The bro who doesn't lift Allow me to explain. It’s because of his good guy image. Everyone knows Jon is a scumbag, cheating is in his nature. People rightfully get pissed when someone who presents themself as a saint cheats, and doesn’t include that context when coming clean about his possible cheating (the towel). It’s seen as a way a liar would provide a half truth to placate skeptics. That is why people are “petty.” However, using the word petty implies that it’s not justified, but it absolutely is. We have to be objective in evaluating one’s character, and saying things to the effect of “well that’s bad but x fighter is worse” is a silly standard in which followed to its logical end all of morality can be thrown in the trash by comparison to someone more scummy. All this being said, I think DC is for the most part a great person, and without a doubt a fantastic fighter. Nobody can take this away from him, but not including eye pokes in this discussion is intellectually dishonest.

@@Torgomasta The eye poke was petty. It had no bearing on the fight itself. We will never know if it was done on purpose. We can assume all day. But at the end of the day, looking at DC's body of work, and character, he earned the benefit of doubt. It happens in all walks of life. Building enough good fortune and favor, will get people to overlook something as petty as this ridiculous argument. As it should. DC did nothing wrong. We should stop talking about it. But we wont, because DC is the type of guy most of the world secretly wishes they were. Thats why people focus on it. They have to believe that one outlier has to be a character flaw. Its simply, not. Its easier to be Jon Jones. Its almost impossible to be DC.

@@gilletabdi8268 2 things. 1 - You are wrong. Stipe eye poked DC in the first fight. Wasnt intentional. Or had any bearing on the outcome on the fight. 2 - The very fact Stipe went on to KO DC in the second fight, means the eye pokes he suffered were not significant. Stipe has said it had no bearing on the outcome of his fights. Why cant the fans accept it? And if they were intentional, the referee would have disqualified DC for being reckless and egregious. Face it, people just dont like DC and will blow out of proportion anything he does. Including eye pokes in a fight he lost, lol. Ridiculous and absurd. It goes back to my first comment.

He makes some very good points, but he’s wrong. St-Pierre is definitely the greatest of all time.

Uncle Junior is dead on. Gsp could’ve been the greatest but he didn’t want to take risks. Gsp Silva would’ve been the greatest super fight event. No two guys dominated their division the way they did (and at the same time). And gsp was a huge ww so he could’ve easily fought at mw. But he was scared to fight Silva. Dana White recently said that gsp had no interest in that fight. Then he comes back to fight the weakest champ in history at any weight in bisping. Then drops belt after refusing to fight Whitaker. But of course he’s willing to fight smaller guy in khabib. Gsp antics are not fooling anybody who follows the sport closely. He was a great fighter but when you scared to take on these challenges you can’t be the greatest.

As a podcaster I know exactly why... He does this so he can hear himself... He must be receiving only audio from Ariel, so he keeps one headphone over his hear, and one headphone off of his ear. Maybe. A big maybe. I would guess he was always doing it. Post USADA his career implodes and he fails tests, yet other guys from his era like bisping (his injury is arguable even worse than silva´s) become a champion in their 40s, never fail a test. Explains a lot.

Then comes back and fight bisping a veteran on his way out with a red panty night fight.. such a grinder who got all the stars aligned to become a champ , which didnt last long he got flatened after for the new comers.GSP looked slow and out of shape he knew as a chess player he is with firas zahabi that bisping would be his best chance to get that tittle. Hunter jones is not a monster without the drugs. He’s gone to decision quite a lot and has tired out in some fights, also he’s dodging heavyweight even though he’s a tall lhw. If he fights clean you’ll see his not as good as people say. Nobody says Lance Armstrong is the best cyclist now do they, so why does jones get a pass

Never failed a test absolutely demolished WW for a long time beating guys that were greats in their own right for the time period in which he beat them he beat every guy he ever fought dealt with adversity and came back better then Retired came back won a belt a weight class up against Bisping and say what you want about Bisping but look at Bispings record and achievements. The only gripe you can say is he didn’t finish a lot of people at the end of the day it’s about winning fights and he did if it was strictly about finishes than Cerrone is the Goat.

The reason DC will never be considered the GOAT by fans is because when you look at the people in the running for it, Jon Jones is up there, and Jones beat DC twice. Even if him taking PED’s is there, he still beat him twice. You can’t be considered the GOAT if you’ve lost to someone twice that is also in the mix for GOAT

I heard recently Anderson was considering retirement before the first Weidman fight. If he would have done so, there would have been this air of mystery about him and a lot of people would consider him the GOAT. No end to his losing streak, no PED issue, and retiring with a belt. He’s fought so many times since then though, that it’s really hard to imagine he’d ever have hung it up then

When Khabib’s own TEAMMATE (and one of the smartest MMA minds in the world, imo) is rating McGregor as one of the best ever (not THE 🐐, but in that rarefied air), that’s as good a cue as any that McGregor is as legit as they come. Something I like to tell people is, if you’re wondering who the best people are in a field, a good indicator is who the best in that field respect. It’s not the end-all be-all, but it’s a good starting point. That said, you gotta think for yourself at the end of the day, with a RATIONAL and emotionless mind. Look at accomplishments, toughness of competition, stoppages, impact on the sport, and it’s pretty clear McGregor deserves high praise.

Jesse Handel He definitely has an argument, at least in my eyes. - strength of competition (beat multiple champs: Holloway, Poirier, Aldo, Alvarez) - beat lineal champs in TWO divisions. - beat one of the best of all time in Jose Aldo, the only champ of the division. - consistently finished opponents in his most significant wins, as opposed to close decisions - impact on the sport - as an athlete - is second to only Royce Gracie, at least in my opinion. I think you have to rate McGregor ahead of Cejudo (and Khabib), for the reasons mentioned. Being an Olympic champion is a HUGE accomplishment... but has absolutely nothing to do with MMA. Of course, this is all subjective, so there’s no definitive list. It’s fun to discuss it, though (as long as it’s a civil discussion)!

Chris ... you have a few seconds of fanboy moment when DC took Conor’s name based on two titles... just holding them titles would have got DC and Henry in there too but people don’t count goat status based on title or weight class wins... if thats the case then consider GSP the greatest period... won most title defences in WW and then moved 15 pounds higher after 4 years to win the second belt! None have been better than him. Plus a clean fighter!

Ronda was considered one of the best and look what happened..the truth of the matter is that women's mma is still evolving,it's way better than what it was during ronda's time but I still believe men are superior skill wise and that's no knock on the ladies,they just started late.
