MK'S main wish is to try and manipulate elections outcomes with a view of influencing other antiANC parties to vote with them to oust Ramaphosa so that Zuma can eventually be pardoned. If that can be the case SA voters will punish such parties. Nobody doesn't know what Zuma did in looting the resources of SA. ANC should be careful to not entertain ANC-DA coalition. ANC should make coalition with IFP & other small parties including libetation movements like AZAPO& PAC.

Really irritates me how anti DA people talk about the markets as if they don't affect them or the poor. Markets collapsing means petrol goes to 35 in 2 months. It potentially means millions of job losses. It means no foreign investment in South Africa. The markets matter to everyone. They matter a lot.

@Sgeorlestro That's not how trade works for almost anything, no one in the Sub-Saharan region is willing to lose out by simply "accepting and trusting" a currency. The US dollar is the most stable currency in the global market, no one likes that but it is a fact, also, the most stable currencies in our continent is the Botswana Pula and the Mauritian Rupee even though they buy less of our Rand, it depends a lot on their monetary policy as well. South Africa, like most African industrialized countries, needs infrastructure but in order to develop good infrastructure we need good policies and to have good policies we need good politician, and we know the quality of our politicians.

From the outside looking in as a black person I don’t see the sense in today taking away land and assets from white South Africans. Why hasn’t the ANC focused on programs and policies to truly life more black people out of poverty and support them in entrepreneurial efforts along with giving up government owned land to citizens through various schemes instead of snatching private property from other citizens. SA won’t move forward if policies are still being implemented based on race. You’ve seen how that fails before and repeating it is crazy.

This is so ignorant. Those lands were STOLEN by Boers and many Africans in SA are now landless so if you don’t see the benefit you are simply a self hating Individual. You hate your own people to the point where you are ok with them being landless while European invaders own most of the land.

The ANC has handlers unfortunately. No deviating from the script. They turned black South Africans into welfare receivers. No black person must mess with their businesses and farms etc...You are undermining the land issue. Most black people are living like rats. Unfortunately this government is not for the people, it's a buffer between the rich and the masses. Before 1994, Every black person was hard working and had a homestead doing peasant farming. Now you have to come to the cities for a better life. Indoctrinated!.... There's a lot that has gone wrong because of money and selfish behaviour

How do we move forward by not having a non racial society. I’m a Coloured voter. And the only party that is sending more than one coloured to parliament between the big four is the DA. I was turned away from a job not because of qualifications or experience but by requirements of BEE. The only party to have multi cultural people in there cabinet is DA out of the Big 4. Your speech is good but middle class pays for everything and I understand why we need to be focused on the poor but the current tax payer is the one who suffers. We can’t be bailing out anything. If we run this country like a business then we will be able to make the economic progress.

Fun fact about preferential employment policies such as BEE, it causes any type of business owner to employ less people especially for higher positions. If a qualified person does not have the right skin colour and the right complexion of a person is not as qualified ( qualification is a factor in relation to the pool of qualified persons) then the business will simply not hire at all. This happened to companies during apartheid as well when they employed non-whites in senior positions, the government said no and they hired less people as a result. Interesting times.

In the event of an ANC-DA coalition, I’d be interested to see how COSATU and SACP react what comes of the former tripartite alliance. The ANC has arguably sidelined that faction of the party. Do they split from the ANC? If so where do they go? Probably EFF? Maybe MK? Interesting times.

I do not even think the ANC will be able to convince its members to go into a coalition with the DA. I mean look at KZN, ANC members were campaigning for MKP using ANC resources. I think casting doubts on election results by MK is just a political stunt. They don’t mean to pursue that into anything significant. Deep inside they know they have done substantially well as a rookie; at least rookie only in the modern politics if you consider the heritage of the name tag. And I think for them to play conventional and reserved instead of pageantry celebrations is good to avoid unnecessary premature pressure if they seek to infiltrate municipal fabrics of South African politics and unthread the ills and rethread. So Big-Up to them and welcome back to the Old-Man! I hope his return benefits and positively impacts the entire political scene of the Nation!

It is a huge change, albeit voted for by the voters, still, the risks and the opportunities are important enough for a referendum once the parties come up with a solution in which the citizens have a say in that solution ... I think we as a people should take responsibility, we can't have rights but no obligation. This is too big a decision without a referendum giving all the parties a mandate to form a government by their electorate. So indeed, a manifesto subject to a referendum

You do hit the nail on the head that the only salvation for the ANC would be to bury their internal differences and to ensure that they govern well going forward and deliver services to people. The ANCs own governance record is however dismal for a variety of reasons that are common knowledge. From municipalities to provincial to national departments to SOE's they have failed to manage (govern) these institutions well, so the question remains how are they going to turn this around going into a coalition with two parties who have no experience to date in governing anything? On the other hand the DA's governance record is well known. The majority of the municipalities they run and all the provincial departments in the Western Cape annually receive clean audits. They are also by all metrics able to provide a better level of service to communities. If you were the ANC and you had to turn your own governance and delivery around to save your party, who would want to work with - the EFF/MK or the DA? I know who I will choose despite the risks associated with it which you have correctly highlighted.

People want the land, but what good is the land if people don't have the skill to work the land. I support the Industrialisation but bring the technical programmes in schools. EFF was talking about increasing grants during their election campaigns but no plan on how to empower and arm people with skills. People need skills so they are able to work for themselves not to depend on government grants.

I hear u Sizwe. Well articulated options. My two- pence input here. We have seen how these coalitions failed at local level. Now National is faced with this. We know that Coalitions are not just about horse- trading (" if u give me this , then I will give u that") Beyond forming coalition 's National is faced with governing a multi -party democracy/ govt of national unity with minimum experience. This is where the rubber hits the road. The secret coalition e.g. of ANC/ DNA or any other formation with no transparency for citizens who voted is futile. There should be conditions for establishing a Government of national unity. Ideally, for good governance it would require a transparent coordinated effort through a national dialogue with representation of at least the following constituencies: 1. At least top 6/7 parties (but would recommend representation of leads of smaller parties too) 2. Civil society representation who gave the mandate. 3. Business 4. Academic 5. Faith based Organisations (e.g.SACC) 5.Traditional leaders 6.NGO's To determine, how much of what by whom and by when.
