    This also means Tilly was really the one to help bury Arthur because Hosea and Lenny died and were the only two others who heard Arthur’s request. So Tilly must have told Charles.

    I think it's mostly that The Strange Man digs often in the game's files and that's why he can solve mysteries and note obscure details the way he does. Though he could have a good eye for detail and references too.

    After all this time I'm still finding details in my latest play through that I've never seen before. At Horse Shoe Overlook if you wait until just after a heavy rain, you can see a huge rainbow spanning the valley below. Tilly will stand on the cliff watching. As you approach she strikes up a conversation about the rainbow with Arthur. Arthur will comment on how maybe there's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Just so happens that the left side of it falls perfectly on the sheriff's office in the old burned down town where you can find none other than a gold bar hidden in a chest under the desk. The right side of the rainbow falls on the burned woods where you can find the volatile fire bottle recipe. The rainbow gives you treasure and fortune.

    Arthurs last moments are also foreshadowed by what he says when talking to Hosea. He says "face me to the west so I can watch the setting sun and remember all the fine times we had that way". But when Arthur is succumbing to TB, he's actually facing east while watching the rising sun. This is symbolic of the character development he underwent during the story. In the beginning (when he had that conversation), all he credits himself with being is a killer and an outlaw. He wants to look west to remember all the times he was able to rob and kill remorselessly. He realizes that the age of outlaws is over. But by the end, he's fully dedicated to helping John and his family start a new life, and he finally accepts that the age of outlaws is over. He looks east during the sunrise to see the new life that lay ahead for his brother.

    If Arthur had gone ahead and killed Milton and Ross right then and then he would have ultimately caused the downfall of the Van Der Linde gang. Killing them would have caused the pinkertons to replace them with 2 more agents + send and army of agents after them in the same way Ross sent the army and marshals after John in RDR1 and have them all killed in camp. Milton could have arrested and interrogated Arthur at the river but he didn't. Instead he gave him and later the rest of them a chance to surrender Dutch and everyone could walk away and start anew. Killing them by the river or in camp would have shown that Arthur and the others have no heart and wear willing to ignore good offers in favour of their horrible, outdated ways. And they all knew that Milton and Ross wouldn't have approached them without eyes somewhere in the distance watching them to make sure that if chaos did unfold then they could alert Hq of what happened. It wasn't just because Jack was present, it was because Arthur had common sense and so did everyone else.

    If anything killing the two leading agents on the Van der Linde gang's case would've led to the Pinkertons doubling their enforcement and hunting them down in a more severe fashion now that they know early on that they're willing to cross that line. Plus whoever replaces Milton could be less forbearing with the gang and want to simply bring them down for all their years of barbarity and violence. Also, while I think Arthur is a very sensible person, I do think the decision was definitely out of protecting Jack first and foremost than some forethought on his part because you could see him about to pull out his gun before looking at Jack and stopping himself.

  • @StuartLugsden

    @StuartLugsden

    @@themadtitan7603 This is why I don't really see Milton as the villain or even the antagonist. He's probably the only non corrupt law man in the Rockstar Games universe apart from Hernandez. He gave them chances and he said to Cornwall that he was doing everything he too could hunt and end them within the boundaries of the law. He just a man doing his job and someone who wanted what was best for the world which was civilisation. That comes with it's own problems like he said but those problems are nothing compared to the old ways. I think like Dutch he was put under so much pressure that he was willing to break the rules if it meant result. Killing Hosea could have been an example of that and similar to Dutch when he killed Bronte and further showing that the 2 wear on the direct opposite ends of the spectrum when it came to viewing the world.

    I've often thought that Micah Bell was based off the famous real-life outlaw, John Wesley Hardin. From his big white hat, to his holsters being set Cross ways, to wielding double-action revolvers, to the fact that he's a crazy murdering psychopaths (Hardin admitted to killing over 40 people in his life), I think the similarities are pretty uncanny. Fun Fact: I'm actually related to Hardin.

    I love these little details that are so easily missed! I have a few others little bits to point out actually! In the clip where you highlit/circle the Pinkertons watching over the camp as Micah is telling Grimshaw to pack up things and leave, at 2:45 I originally thought that Micah was glancing over to see Arthur ride back into camp just before he speaks to dutch, but if you look at Micah's head it is tilted WAY to far to the right to be looking at Arthur, I actually think Micah isn't looking at Arthur and is looking at the Pinkertons in the distance since he probably knew they were coming on that day. Don't think so, think he still could be looking at Arthur? Sure, it is hard to tell since Micah is being shot from behind BUT at 3:04 look in the background, Micah turns his head in the direction where the Pinkertons would be standing off screen. Such crazy little details make this game ridiculous sometimes.

    @@themadtitan7603 The Pinkertons doubling down on their hunt for the Van der Linde gang was inevitable. It’s very strongly asserted that Cornwall had the Pinkertons in his pocket, as the Pinkertons would pretty much work for whoever had the money to hire their services. No matter what happened. Also, the Van Der Linde fought off an army of Pinkertons in a less defendable camp with less guns present at the time. The events of RDR2 would’ve continued as semi-normally. Just without Ross and Milton at the helm.

  • @HEKVT

    @@CaptHC Milton and Ross were quite ruthless - potentially, they wouldn't have come to the camp at Chap 3, therefore the gang wouldn't have fled so quickly. If Milton and Ross were dead, it would buy the gang time whilst they got two other agents to get to the same level Milton and Ross were. The biggest one being, that if Milton is dead, then the Pinkertons may have not captured Hosea and Abigail - with Hosea alive, Dutch wouldn't cave into Micah as fast, as well as being able to escape Saint Denis as planned, which would prevent them from going to Guarma - this would stop, or at least slow down Micah being turned into a rat by the Pinkertons. Overall, it'd change quite a few events I believe, especially if Hosea was still alive. Ross' death may have also stopped the events of RDR1 since Micah may have not died in such a way, or the other agents may not have found John.

    @@soundwavesuperior28 Disagree, sure they did eventually double down their efforts in the story but that was later on when the gang had crossed path with them several times and were prepared for the attack, unlike chapter 2/3 where they had just fled the law in a heist gone wrong, barely managed out of a blizzard and finally came down from the mountains still haven't encountered the Pinkertons directly much. But still managing to cause such commotion that Milton and Ross found Arthur dangerously close to camp. If the Pinkertons were informed that their two leading men on the case were killed near that spot, they would've probably launched an attack on Horseshoe, now knowing that the gang is willing to cross that line and kill detectives. Even if the gang barely managed it out of there, they'd surely be killed when the Pinkertons come for them in Clemens Point as it wouldn't be a negotiation this time around.

    Theres something else about Bessie which you missed. In the picture in Pearson shop in the epilogue Jack can be seen as a baby in arms. Jack was born in 1895 and this was when the Van Der Linde gang was still somewhat small. Hosea met Bessie in 1883 and she is nowhere to be seen in the photo. This shows that she must have died around the late 1880's. +That photo shows that a great chunk of the gang didn't meet Dutch until after the golden years of the Wild West.

    Didn't the ''gang'' started with Dutch and Hosea trying to rob eachother in 1873 with them finding and taking a 13yo Arthur under their wing in like 1876 or 1878? In RDR1 , John mentions he, Bill and Javier grew up together.. with all 3 of them being in their early 20's I would imagine them being with the gang from 1888-1892 , somewhere in that range. I'm not entirely sure about Abigail and Miss Grimshaw, perhaps you can give an estimate about that but I would say at least as long as John, Bill and Javier. Tilly, Charles, Lenny and Micah we know for fact they haven't been with the gang long at all. 6-18 months Hardest for me to say are: Sean, Uncle and the (unseen)Jenny, Davey and Mac Callandar.

  • @livewire2759

    @livewire2759

    @@lunasilvermoon2283 They do mention that Jenny was picked up at about the same time as Micah in the summer of 1898 while they were in the grizzlies north of Tall Trees (outside of the map). Sean can be found in a cabin in tall trees during 1898 (online "stranger" mission) and he will mention that he runs with a gang but he got separated from them a few weeks prior. So we know he was likely with the gang before they picked up Jenny and Micah, but we don't know if it was a few months or a few years before that. Abigail was introduced to the gang by Uncle, so even though he isn't in the picture on Pearson's wall, we can assume that he was the one who took the picture, but again, we don't know exactly when he joined the gang. The Callander boys are the big mystery. There is very little ever said about them... similar to the way there is very little said about Arthur in the epilogue... (hint?). I think one of them will be the protagonist for the next game, most likely Mac.

    More so than Jack being there, I feel Arthur stopped himself because killing Milton would’ve only caused more trouble Milton approached Arthur and offered him a peaceful solution: Give up Dutch, and you won’t hang. If Arthur had proceeded to kill them both there, the Pinkertons would’ve sent replacements. Replacements that know that trying to reason with them is futile. Replacements that have every reason to hunt them hard and fast. Milton seemed to be more of a by-the-books man, leading him to be slower and more methodical, which gave the gang time to be a step ahead of them. Any replacements coming on the heels of “Arthur Morgan shot Agent Milton” would have a lot more incentive to get the gang than just “They’re outlaws”. For better or worse, keeping Milton alive kept the gang safer. Also, as an aside, if Arthur somehow missed, then Jack might’ve been caught in the crossfire

    @@dragonforce8815 maybe he did both, sorry I don’t remember as much it’s been a while, he was by water so I’m assuming he did some fishing before hunting ducks

    @@dragonforce8815 maybe just Ross being by the water while hunting ducks in the first game made me think he was fishing Also it reminded me of how when jack was little he was with Arthur fishing

    Arthur got exactly what he wanted in the end, in more ways than just where he was buried. that is if you chose the honourable way. he crawls over to the west side of that cliff and watches the sun set as he dies.

    Rockstar put so much detail into this game that we still find new things even though this game was made in 2018, now THAT is good game designing.

    1:55 the detail is actually Ross says:"Enjoy your fishing kid, while you still can" because Jack kills Ross in RDR 1 when Ross is fishing

    I still almost cry every time I see Arthur's grave. Having completed the main story after a year of doing side missions first, I grew quite attached to Arthur and my horse, and watching them both die just made me feel like I lost a real person even tho I really shouldn't feel that way about a fictional character.

    Arthur and micah have opposite colors of clothes, this can be a symbolism of how their personalities are different. As well as their ideals and actions It is a very detailed open world, although it fails in the development of some characters (sadie adler for example) I would have liked more missions to be included with characters whose development is not seen so much on camera, apart from 3-4 missions
