Great running, looks like not enough smoke from cold, maybe needs oil snail drive set up.

Gosh... The good old days...music to my ears ...miss hearing these two stroke engines.

Had a brand new 250 in 1981. Do remember mine smoking more, a big concern for me on restarting after a rebuild was if the autolube was working correctly.

God l miss my LC, nearly killed myself on it but will never forget it Stan Stevens tuned 2 stroke - quick!!😜

sounds great. nice job. i've owned alot of bikes but non makes you smile like an LC.

I've had a fair few. This one didn't make me smile when I discovered it had a bent crankshaft!

I hope it didn't seize up...I'd be super worried when smoke is a no show!.... had one back in the day,

Doesn't matter if your low on coolant & gas.. Just don't forget the two cycle oil!!!

I'm not a fan of drilled discs but they had enough meat on them. You're right though, it would benefit from having some calipers fitted...

I love RD old and New

Knows his onions.kill switch,ignition,circulation, balance.. best bikes ever as far as i know.

Nice motorcycle, congratulations. After the first start you should have checked that the automatic lubrication system works correctly. Why is there no smoke after having revved the engine several times?

I sold my 250 with 375 top end to my mate in 2010 as I had enough of it. I then bought a slabby and have an RG 250 mk1 now also. The RG engine is so dam good albeit not as powerful but it's a good engine and the bike feels like a little 125 compared to the LC.

Yes the V twin 250 engine is a little jewel. I have a couple of RS250's with the exact same engine and they really sing once they get on the pipe.

vonSnook In Canada it was the RD 350 LC. 1981 models were white and 1982 models were black. I had the 1982 model it was a blast to ride, never lost a race even against 1000 cc 4 strokes.

Should be smoking more than that is the 2 stroke pump working

I'm not sure about the parts falling off while he's just letting the bike warm up, but I suppose it's his problem to worry about.

Like I said earlier, I loosely fitted the gear lever to pop it into neutral. I hadn't fitted the gear linkage assembly because I am pretty sure there wasn't a left hand footrest at the time.

Engine mounts were 2 plates on the throttle side, later ones had tie bar rubber mounts under the engine, had 4 back in the 80's an would love another but I'm not paying £7000 for one, they were £1050 brand new

there is another exhaust for it ,might sound better

Bike was in the middle of a full restoration so the calipers were probably stripped down for refurb. If I recall correctly, I got this bike (cheap) with a bent/twisted crankshaft and I had just rebuilt the engine, from the crank up.

you have installed radiator for what???? rd doesn't come with radiatiator?? is this intercooler or oil cooler....????

It is a water cooled engine. No oil cooler because this uses "total loss" lubrication. Being a 2-stroke, the crankcase is used to force petrol / air mixture into the cylinder. Look up "loop scavenge 2-stroke"

I just shoved the gear lever on to put the bike in neutral. It fell off but with no brakes I don't need gears anyway...

Hahaha ich würde erst einmal den linken Auspuff richtig anschrauben und die Motorhalterung ist auch abgefallen ha ha das ist ein Schrauber ha ha Kühlwasserablasschrauben an den Zylindern auch vergessen fest zu machen

I wouldn't take advice from someone doesn't know the difference between a gear lever and an engine bracket. I just used it go stick the bike in neutral, it wasn't fitted (clearly).

So are you claiming to be the new owner? This is news to me. I bought this off eBay (still have the record for that). I have no idea how you would identify this particular machine so many years later so either send me some evidence or retract your statement. Note: I will have comprehensive documentation and photographs of this engine so my next step will be to contact a solicitor if you persist with this allegation.
