Haha. Yeah I got frustrated with the difficulty in tuning these old bits of window frame (long story). Eventually they got better as I trimmed them and sanded them. I placed a rubber bung under each bar which gave it a much better ring but it was never good enough even as a toy for a child. I still have it in the shed somewhere! I hope your ears accept my sincerest apologies...

@@mr.d.rektorstudios It was interesting if frustrating. I assumed all I would need to do is to measure each length to give me the correct pitch. But no. The wood I was using (Sepele??) was an old window frame and the density would vary meaning you would have to tune each bar individually. Which is fine but then obviously the entire set needs to scale in tune across the range. For logistical reasons, I needed to get it done in a day and I missed the deadline...

Thanks Julian, I did spend a fair bit of time on it! Biggest problem was making the model 3d printer friendly, especially that great big parabola. Next issue was extrapolating the dimensions from all those photos. I really ought to finish it off with a deployable Ariane5 nosecone. I just love the simplicity of the mechanism on perhaps the most complex instrument man has ever made.

It was some time ago (!) but I think the "booster" is just that, a mechanism which increases the force acting on the clutch which will probably be sufficient with just the springs. I didn't have to do anything to mine and I think I was taking a look - just in case...

@@gaelpgg3141 This bike was absolutely phenomenal for engine acceleration. Throttle response was instantaneous after a quite tricky re-map. The FI system was very fussy but the response after set up was incredible. If I had the money I'd have another one in a heartbeat but it would have to be the original titanium valve "R" like this one was. Very difficult bike to live with, it was a right hooligan machine so you'd need a spare bike for regular A to B...

Here's an interesting test I did on my 2012 Honda NC700X with 38K miles... push the clutch lever just enough to take slack out of cable and put slight pressure on the clutch and the noise goes away even before the clutch is disengaged. I read about this test somewhere and I believe it indicates the rattle that goes away may be the clutch or needle bearings inside the outer clutch basket. Also, I get a bang or clunk going into first gear and even some grinding if I don't move the shifter fast enough and that might be from warped plates that don't fully disengage when the clutch lever is pressed even all the way to the handlebar with a delay before shifting into gear.

But this is just a test video (new microphone). don't like the chuffing and huffing from the lavalier mic so I just bought a tiny dead cat thing. Anyhow. Thanks for watching! I am amazed anyone is seeing this before I really even get this show on the road...
