I’ve been a professional singer for close to 20 years now and I have used all kinds of systems. From Mackie 450’s when I first started out, to K Array line arrays like the Evolve and the Evox to my top end system which are my QSC KLA 12’s and subwoofer. When you really need to film up a space with volume and quality sound the latter is what I go to. With respect to the stick system line arrays, both the Evolve 50 and the Evox 12 are more powerful than my K Arrays. I had two for even coverage. After 9 years, one of them went and the price of the parts makes it not worth repairing. I bought an Evolve 50 and I’ll tell you why. The whole point of these stick systems was good quality sound in a lightweight portable pack with a small footprint. Test the Evox by RCF might be better, but it’s 50% more expensive and heavier to the point where the purpose of the stick is defeated. You might as well bring a standard system. Whereas the Evolve is still light enough to make it worth taking and if you get two ($ for $1000 more than the price of on Evox 12 you can get two Evolve 50’s ) you would have great sound that could handle a crowd of 200 easily.

Another great video!!! I'm an older DJ lol, 57 years old so always looking at portability! I own 2 pairs of the EV Evolve 50's, a Pair of RCF Evox 12's and a pair of JBL PRX 635 three-way loudspeakers. I also own a pair of JBL PRX818 Subs. Each serve their own purposes for me. I host Karaoke four nights a week and for me the EV's are second to none. They are crisp and clear with plenty of low end. Vocals sound amazing coming out of them and never any issues with feedback. I play loud but not too loud because the bar/restaurants I play in are not that large and the crowds are never more than 70 people. I tried the Evox 12's a few times at Karaoke night shortly after I got them and did not like the sound at all. In fact, I don't like the Evox 12's at lower volumes period!!! In my opinion at lower volumes the EV's sound much better than the Evox 12's. Now at Louder volumes and with the Evox 12's spread far apart from each other they are amazing. I agree with what you said, the louder the Evox 12's the better! So, for me at Karaoke nights or smaller weddings at smaller venues it's the EV's all the way. At corporate events or weddings at larger venues the choice will always be the RCF Evox 12's. I also front a Rock/Metal band and for that it's always my JBL PRX 635's paired with the JBL PRX818's. I would never use the column arrays with my band. Maybe the Evox 12's but never the EV's. Also, I have pushed my EV's pretty far and to me they sound incredible even at higher volumes provided they are spread out pretty far from each other. If they are too close to each other at louder volumes it can get a little muddy. Obviously, you don't always have that luxury when you set up at a venue depending on the room.

You seem like the the guy I needed to hear from. I have 1 Evolve 50M for solo musician gigs, and I absolutely adore it. But, it can’t handle the bass frequencies from my favourite stomp box sound at higher volumes and limiter comes on. (Fine with a Cajon sound) I also own 2 JBL PRX635’s & 2 818 subs. My problem is I don’t have a van anymore and can’t fit the JBL system in my car. But it’s too good to sell it! I’m wondering if 2 of the RCF’s would do for a 3 piece band for weddings etc. Would love your opinion!

@@DannyOLearyMusic I think the Evox 12's could easily handle a 3-piece band but again it goes back to my experience with them at lower volumes. I think they are lacking. But if you have them cranked and spread out far apart, they sound amazing and will do the job!!!

I have a 250 person wedding reception coming up and was contemplating between the RCF EVOX 12s and the ELX200 combo you tested in the video. My upcoming 250 person Wedding Reception is the largest I'd ever consider doing. I'm 59 years old and have paralysis from the knees down. I can easily move the J8s and EVOX 12 on a cart but not really comfortable with mounting the point source tops on poles. I can lift the EVOX 12 tops without any problem. Great comparison DJ. Peck. I am sticking with the Evolve 50’s……They are not the most powerful with Bass and I get your concern regarding a crowd size……This is why i have four of them. Don’t forget you can daisy chain them and tell each unit its distance from the next. I am not a professional full time DJ but the one thing nobody can tell me is what sounds good. I have heard most of the speaker systems and tested the best ones……I have never heard a speaker system sound better than the Evolves! @@skyhightechreview I am sure you know that one Evolve 50 is 8 speakers and a Sub so 4 would be 32 speakers and 4 subs. They are really powerful and if spaced out correctly packs quite a wallop. They are designed so when you daisy chain, you input the distance between speakers. The allows the sound to be properly disbursed. I have listened to a lot of speakers and none sound as good as the evolve 50’s in my humble opinion. One thing that a lot of DJ’s forget….they are full range and you do not need a lot of EQ to make them sound amazing.

@@cperkins172 I notice even in this video, aside from bass, the EV50 sounds 10x better in the high and mid range than the EVOX or the Point Source. I'm so tied to my RCF systems (8004-AS and HD32-A), so when I picked up sets of Evolve 30 and 50 I was skeptical. However, I've been impressed by both (30s are for ceremonies, cocktail, and remote/fills). Still need to get my hands on the Evox, but haven't yet. One tip when doing shootouts - use the same track and timestamps for each speaker. Gives us a clearer comparison. OH! Place them further from the house, too...or aim them away from it. You're potentially introducing comb filtering by having them close to the wall like that. Got my table in - working on building it up right now, but the weight is wild with the Rane One. Looking to reduce. More to come.

thanks for the quick reply. yeah im not to sure where the unity is set to either. ive been messing about with my evox j8s and the mg06 and trying different levels. i read somewhere that the rcfs perform better when volume is near turned full. ive put mine at 3 o clock for the back of speaker and also on master on the mixer then channel 5/6 where my dj controller is connected at around 9 o'clock with the option of increasing if and when needed. just thought id ask you your views on your settings so thanks again for the quick response, your gig logs are amazing too by the way. been a fan of them for a while.

First off nice demo but vocals are always a must. (Copy right! Understood.) What I heard though they all sounded excellent. EV's were excellent and hi fi sounding., RCF were killer and stood out, EV were the fullest with great low mids and soft smooth highs. All in all they are different but excellent products in my book. I have the Yamaha NEXO DXS, DXR series and they're killer. Yes they're expensive but if you get that extra 500 people you can push these very high with no distortion and full frequency response.

Hi brother… question… do you tweak your settings in the back of the EVs 18 subs and 12 tops to play with each other in the right frequency? Or you just leave it like that as factory settings? Or what do you do? … you know in the back menu it has that you can program it to give you the right frequency when you play it along with the subs and tops … (I have the EVs 12 elx200 tops but I have the 12 Elx200 bottoms / subs not the 18” … and I tweak my settings like that to play in the right frequency with each other when using the subs… so I was wondering, in this test you did, did you tweak the settings in the back or not? … let me know… thanks 🙏

I own 6 of the EV 50's and 2 EV 30m's my EV 50's are about 5 years old and they still sound like new but the white pair I use outside has lost that clean white look. No damage just dull looking compared to the ones I only use indoors. Also the way the MAUI goes together I'd be afraid of dust getting in them. Go check them out as your company looks a lot like mines but the look and sound of the 44 G2's is sweet my brother that's why I'm going back for the white pair. I rarely use my box on top speakers and I average between 4 and 5 weddings a week. Like you I love the sound of my 18" subs sound but listen to these 44G2's as they do have that night club BASS.
