EV Evolve 50 vs RCF Evox 12 vs EV EKX 12p/15sp - Speaker Comparison

Музыка

Sometimes I test things for my own sake and just happen to film it. So I wanted to do a loudness test, but one of the key selling points of column array speakers vs point source (top + sub) is convenience and transportability. So I wanted to compare quickness of setups, weight & size, and how easy it is to transport, in addition to loudness.

    I did a prom with the Evox 12's with over 500 kids and they bumped. Didn't even have to push them to the max. I'm sure the other is more powerful as you say but I'll take those evox 12's over the others any day.

    Nice comparison! When I was shopping, I took a hard look at both the EV Evolve 50 and RCF Evox 12. Hard pass on the EV Evolve 50. The RCF Evox 12 was much better with sound, quality and versatility. I like the Evox 12 because I can use for a small event with 75 guests and a bigger event for up to 200. Thanks for all that you do and helping future buyers make informed decisions 🙏🏽

    Awesome comparison. I own the EKX system. The 12s just have that warm rich sound when paired with the subs. I have the 18s and it just provides richness and texture from the high, mids and lows especially in those wooden cabinets. I stayed w the EKX because they’re not an over kill and they can give a serious punch with the crossover settings. Portability and convenience is nice as well and it’s always a plus to have that as well.

    I like the ease of setting up my Bose column arrays because I only need one xlr cable and do not have to velcro the cables to a pole. I also like my QSC point source system because it can be broken down in to different configurations…two mains for a public address, add one or two subs depending on the requirements.

  • @DJDarylBennett

    @DJDarylBennett

    Point source is very modular! Doesn't sound like much work to have two sets of xlr and power cables, but once you try column arrays, it becomes a chore!

    Ev 50 are fantastic for those small events. The reason why I love my rcf j8s. I have the ev elx 12 and 18 subs in white for my large events such as weddings and sweet 16. They look good and great for the price point they are in. Even so I would love etx for larger events

    Interesting comparison! Thats really interesting to know that an EKX 12 inch top and 15 inch sub beats the EVOX 12 in terms of loudness - I was surprised by that for sure!! Especially because the EKX Sub is also 15 inch and smaller. I haven't picked up any column array speakers yet, but am thinking hard about it and this was really helpful. Thanks for the great video!!

    I did a downtown wedding in my city and there really was nowhere near the venue to park and ticketing was being enforced. So at these venues I generally bring someone along so that I can pull right up the venue and have them unload and I go park at a lot blocks away. So at times I don't have an assistant it's just me. This is where something like the RCF Evox or EV Evolve shines! I can park 3 blocks away and put this small system on a push cart. It's somewhat far for pushing two big subs, tops, my table, bags, etc. The Evox takes up like half of the space of a point source system in a cart. And boy do I appreciate the small size when I leave at like 10pm at night with 3 blocks to travel by myself! I have DJ'd in Center City Philadelphia and Manhattan NY with the Evox. It's enough for a wedding 90% of the time.

    As much as I love the evox, RCF for life, the evolve 50 is still the best overall choice for Price, good sound, sizing, and weight. Most events are 100 people and less, anything more you’re gonna buy a whole new sound system with 15in tops and 18in subs.

    Like others have said, the evolve 50 is on par with the the 28g3. The Maui 44 g2 is around 15% louder than the evox 12 and is about 15% less portable. Imo, if a column arrays gets too big and heavy, it loses a lot of it's benefit. The ekx is louder, cheaper, and not much smaller than the 44g2. But the 44g2 comws in white and looks great
