RCA COMPACT PORTABLE WASHING MACHINE REVEIW | Model # RPW160-B

After our big washer broke, we wanted a washer that didn't take up so much room in our tiny mobile home. This was on sale and we liked the compactness of it, so we bought it. It hasn't let us down yet! I forgot to mention that this washer has wheels at the back so, if you were using it at your kitchen sink, you could move it around.

Great review. I have the same washer (2.1). I live in a 5th floor apartment in NYC. This washer is very quiet, even on the heavy spin cycle (think a sewing machine on fast). It spins the items so well that they come out nearly dry already. It's not hooked up to the hot/cold anymore. I just use the grey hose it came with to fill up because the washer is an efficiency and doesn't fill up high enough for me. This thing has saved us so much money. We were spending at least $50 a month at the laundromat (I take rugs, blankets as well). We've never used any powder detergent, we use liquid with no problems so far. I pour it directly in the wash. But, as she said it does not take the same amount of soap as a regular size washer. I think it weighs about 70lbs. If you need to move it often, there are 2 tiny rear wheels. You will have to tilt it way back to roll it. I got it on Walmart's affiliate website called Jet. It came within a week (ordered May 2nd, got it May 9th) to my UPS mailbox location. I paid $297.92 for it ($26.44 shipping). Also, I bought an appliance dolly from Walmart's website for $20. It is well made and adjustable, trust me, you will want it.

oh my, 5th floor. Hopefully with elevator (: I am in a 3rd floor WITHOUT elevator, and I **hated** doing laundry for way more than 10 years. This 1.6cuft washer is like something sent from heaven. I am now always looking forward doing my laundry. Btw, I'm using mostly MEDIUM loads, the spinning can hardly be heard this way, even when you are in the same room. If it's full or maybe overloaded, it might start rumbling. Though, it is large enough to do a whole queen sheet set, with a few towels etc.

Nice review, it is indeed a GREAT washer. Have the same machine in use in my condo for 2 1/2 years now, use it at least once a week, the laundry then air-dries 'naturally' outside on the covered porch. Got it for CAD 299 on sale at local LD. I LOOOOOVE THIS LITTLE HELPER!!!! When I think how much money I spent each week for laundry....it paid for itself off within the first 6 months, and it is so versatile! Found a nice spot for it without having to move it around, just have to connect on demand an extension for the drain hose, which drains then into the sink, and have to connect the water intake hose to the sink, getting the right temp is easy after the first few uses. What I did not find anywhere in the manual is your claim that "it is only designed for POWDERED detergent". Nah, it is recommended to use low- or mid-foam powder, but I only use it with a very small amount of liquid HE detergent (my favorite is PERSIL 'original', no softener needed!) since day one, cleanest laundry I've had for many years. All formerly white, yellow-y towels, dish towels, t-shirts are a thing of the past now, everything is bright, clean smelling and fresh. And this machine is soooo quiet, my downstairs neighbors hear apparently just the water running down the drain, no tumbling or washing noise at all. But, just a bit advice: clean the lint filter in the drum out every single time. Even I have only a tiny bit lint every time in my trap, I clean it out after every wash, especially with towels or bedding.

Holly D, Mine looks exactly like the one in the video, I had gotten the larger one as I have a two year old, two cats, and one dog so laundry is a daily thing. Try looking up the model number on Google and see if any other sale place has them. I hate going to Wal-Mart, lol. However, we discovered a couple days ago we have the option to have an apartment sized laundry center (washer on bottom and dryer on top) or a stackable front-loading washer and dryer. Apparently the shelves above (I am too short to see over them and previous owners left stuff that did not bother us until I wanted to put winter stuff up there and bam) where the washer is has a plug for a dryer and a hook-up for a dryer hose so we purchased an older style center as I believe they clean better than the newer options. No more using two portable dryers that use a lot of energy and no more laundry mats to wash/dry our bedding!

You can use the air dry cycle, which gets the clothes mostly dry.

@@kat4933 you seem to have no idea, bacteria can be eliminated with a temperature up to 62° C if you don't use bleach and with a detergent that got a bleach include you can eliminate some kind of bacteria for best with a temperature up to 40° C and to get proteins and fat out of the laundry.
