Love this, Chris!! So much detail that I'm not able to see in - as you said - some of your other general run videos. Appreciate you sharing your methodology/approach to things as well. Full-on awesomeness!!
Hi Chris. Amazing job on the layout. My son just moved out and I’m rearranging that floor of the house to include a train work room as well as storage and then another room for a display such as yours. I totally love your track plan. My area could easily support something like yours. If you could post the track plan I’d love to work from it. Again awesome job. Keep em coming. Take care!

Thanks Michael and congrats on getting started on your layout as well! Such a fun hobby!
Excellent use of the area - love the thinking behind areas of separation, providing depth and interest, multi-level etc. Good to see the trains running at realistic speeds. I hate seeing race tracks. Well done on the layout and the video commentary.
Definitely love the layout. Especially the two separate tracks above the main layout
Good looking layout. Appears well planned, and good running layout with a purpose.

Love how this channel is growing! Keep it up!
Ah hah! I found your track plan. Makes your layout even better . It’s such a big help seeing how to fit these big trains in your space. I’m trying to shove three O scale trains and an On30 Trolly with a dozen Christmas village buildings in a seven x twelve area. Oh, and the Christmas tree right in the middle of it. LoL
More model train youtubers need to do this. Great video!

I love the detail you put into your layout and having your father’s train station adds that passing down feel. I have the Davenport and Emporium from Woodland Scenic that I plan to use for a tower square shopping center that’s built around my train station, its based on my towns tower square even though we no longer have the train station. I am really excited to see more from your channel and oh by the way, I have a farm house with Christmas lights that I let shine lol.

Very nicely done. Thank you for posting. I also use the Lionel Fastrack system on my layout. I fell in love with those lighted switches when I first saw them. They look far more realistic than the old Lionel switches. Their only drawback as far as I can see is the fussy and often futile method by which they attach to their lighting fixtures. Please keep up your great work.

@@RBPTrains Yes. Perhaps we should get onto Lionel's Design Department about this. Those colored lanterns on top of the switches sometimes just seem to pop off all by themselves...and I don't get a very positive feeling whenever I have to try to snap them back on either. Very annoying not to feel like they're going to remain in place, no matter how carefully I try to snap them back onto the light fixture. Still, they do look great.

Thanks Chris! Been following your progress as well. You have an amazing setup.
In over sixty years I've seen a ton of layouts. You did a nice job, not cluttering, transitioning in short space. don't feel you need to make excuses or explain why you did what you did, everyone is a critic to one degree or another and in these politically divided times Americans just need to get over it and not feel they need to explain everything. We all differ, so what. M more of a tinplate guy but I like it.
Really a nice looking layout.

new subscriber! I love this kind of stuff.
Hey Chris, Love your videos, and thank you. I am new to O Scale / O Gauge (first purchase was January 2021 - Polar Express for wife). I have however been in and out of model railroading since 1978 in HO until switching to N scale in 1999, and then back to HO in 2009 and now HO and O. Since moving to Georgia from California in 2020, 2021 was the year I started building again, but small. I built a 4x8 O Gauge Christmas village layout with 2 ovals (very simple) that is displayed for Christmas and put away in storage afterwards (this Christmas being it's 1st year on display). Now I am building a 4x8 O Gauge layout for my son (and Dad too). I am planning on a small wood platform to create a tunnel and a place ontop for some scenery items. The platform I am planning on building with plywood. But I was wondering if you could do a short video on how you built your wooden raised platform section and specifically your retaining wall. I have the tunnel portals and most of the platform figured out how I will build it....but I will admit I am coming up empty on the retaining wall (or least I am not excited about methods I know of such as plaster casting, styrene sheets, etc). I really like the look of what you did and would love some inspiration / guidance on what you did. I really enjoy your layout and videos....I appreciate it and thank you. OK enough rambling from me for now lol.
First time I see a CLEAN and finished O layout ! (Not from an old guy with a 40years old T-shirt ,,😉) Congrats ! My dad does N scale and I used to do HO but sold it for LEGO trains...

Chris, hey David Bonner from the National Capitol Trackers in DC. I would love to see a video where you explain how you built your collection? Are you the type of individual who buys a model because you like it? Or are you the type of person who was influenced by different areas of where you lived. For example my Dad grew up in Montana and I went to college in Helena and fell in love with the railroad history. Stories in my family of riding the Northern Pacific or Milwaukee Road captivated me and I became drawn to that aspect of history. So I snag Milwaukee and NP models when they are cataloged. I also got to railfan the last year of the Burlington Northern. People in my dorm complained about the noise of the trains. (The mainline of the former Northern Pacific ran right behind my dorm in Montana and was not far away) When I heard a train coming there were many times went outside to watch. Even in the middle of snow storms I did that. There was something that melted me. To stand in a heavy snow and see 5 or 6 SD40-2 hooked together breaking through the bad weather and fighting the elements with the lights, and hear the engines while feeling the ground shake. There was nothing like it in the world. Its one of the reasons why I like BN and Montana Rail Link. You have some really nice models and it would be neat to hear the history behind what you collect and why? Keep up the good work! Your other videos I am looking forward to watching.

I admire these layouts-the designs that allow for scenery is something I want, but never really build for. I’ve built numerous HO fiasco’s, but the jump from “design on paper” to laying track always ends with the realization that if had another turnout here, then I could do this…and that would open up this …and the next thing you know, I’m back at the drawing board. I’m on my 2nd O layout.. The first was just slapped together so I could run my trains. Then I designed my around the wall MISC..about a year in the thought was we were moving…so I kept building, with the intent of dismantling the railroad Now, we’re not moving. And I realized in that time frame, I made a major mistake…and it was too big to correct.. So I added my reverse loop to side step it. Now I’m toying with the idea of starting over. Anyway… Does your Railroad have a name? And what are the dimensions? Thanks
Considering an indoor layout in this scale you did a great job. I am surprised you can run the big steamers around these tight curves.
I wish I had that kind of layout
great commentary.

thanks for the great overview.!!! most folks just show closeups of their layout as if they are afraid to show a overlook view. so, i appreciate it. Also, could you tell what that beautiful engine that looks like a general you are running is? thanks tim
EXCELLANT
Hi! I have a question. if I have 4 locomotives and more than 25 wagons, adding 21 curved rails of 84, plus 9 straight rails of 1 3/8 plus 21 straight rails of 30 and another 11 straight rails of 10. all of that powered by fastrack power block lock and the GW-180 180 watt transformer, is that energy enough to activate my locomotives and rails?
good stuff young man. you have done very well at your age. if i was your neighbor maybe we could run a track from mine to yours. non realistic today but fun to think about. peace

Hi Chris! Great looking layout! What radius are you using for your curves? Thanks!
Hey Chris, can your LionChief engines run using the z-4000 transformer or do you only run LionChief on the track powered by the Lionel ZW transformer?
Love this..

Good day. I enjoy seeing your layout. I have started back working on mine. I have a question. I saw a short clip of the layout design. What did you use to make that? I want to build a control panel with controls over laying schematics. Just a note of my layout. 072 smallest curve,099 largest. All Ross switches and gargrave track. Atlas Turntable. Modified over and under figure 8. And a few more tricks😉.
can you do a new overview video of your updated layout with the bridge?
