Ray Conniff - Here today and gone tomorrow

Here today and gone tomorrow
Ray Conniff
Lyrics:
I came to you in dark despair
I needed someone who would care.
You held me close against your heart
I felt a warmth right from the start.
Then one day He took you away
Why did it happen, who can say?
Now all that there is left for me
Is just a precious memory.
That's life, that's life
You take the joy, you take the sorrow.
That's life, that's life
You're here today and gone tomorrow.
My life has crumbled since you've gone
But somehow I must carry on.
The pain I feel I can't describe.
I can't forget you, though I've tried.
Each night I say a little prayer
That when He takes me you'll be there.
Together once again we'll be
I'll live again my memory.
That's life, that's life
You take the joy, you take the sorrow.
That's life, that's life
You're here today and gone tomorrow.
That's life, that's life
You take the joy, you take the sorrow.
That's life, that's life
You're here today and gone tomorrow.

Through failures and disappointments, we still find our way back to being appreciative of what God has given us. Let me thank my wife of 29 years, "I came to you in dark despair.." But I will not go on alone, we will both look to the same direction. I hope we will go away from this world together. No regrets, no haunting of the sins of omission. It is me because of you. I don't live for me but also for you.

Life is too short let's make it very meaningful in the eyes of god and humanity.

This song goes through my mind every time someone close to me passes on, but I hadn't heard it in years..... just found it here. So true - "that's life, that's life....you take the joy, you take the sorrow.... that's life, that's life - you're here today and gone tomorrow." Doesn't matter who you are or how old you are, when it's your time...... RIP Boyd......

nalulunod ako sa lungkot. wala akong ibang naisalbang mga litrato nya nung umalis kami ng probinsya. hindi ko na rin ma-imagine kung ano ang hitsura nya nung maliit pa sya at nung magdalaga na sya at yung hitsura nya nung maliit pa kami. kung may kapangyarihan lang ako, gusto kong balikan ang mga pinagdaanan ng nanay ko. i still also have a vague memory of my father's face since he died when i was just 5yrs old. I don't want to ask why people die. i'm drowning in tears of sadness thru this song.

Ray Conniiff was a great musician of his age. Joint Burt Bacharach, Franck Pourcel, Paul Muriat and Henri Mancini exported the Latin and Latin American music for the world in a genre called "Easy Listening". Many Conniff´s song arranges are used for Martial Bands in Venezuela as repertory, for example his arrangement of "Caballo Viejo". Four years after his dead his music legacy will go on.

i heard this song since i was small...when my mother died in 2007, i t hought of this song and search for it and didn't find it, because i am searching for That's Life, and there was KZread...all the old old songs I want is here. I love old songs, if i choose to live my life it would be in the 50s or 60s not in the 80s. I made this song as a sound track for all the pictures during my mother's suffering until her time ends. truly amazing, music is indeed the soundtrack of our life. Thanks a lot!

Hearing this song again after all these years reminds me of my days in the Uni. A Uni mate's father passed away suddenly and tragically.... she played this song by Ray Conniff over and over again in her room....that was the first time I heard it and over the years I never forgot the lyrics..... On a happier note...we are happy souls today... Wonderful Ray Conniff ...

That was'73 or '74, Mr Rogsun. I was 2nd year pre-law but switched to Mathematics. Nine years after I was ready for my Civil Eng'g Board. Look back where your life brought you. Despite of everything we have been through, I found my call in UNIX world, happily married with 3 children and passionate about computerized health care delivery system (thank you DOH/WHO for sending me to AIT and CSIS, Milan). Here in Ontario, I find songs in the past that remind me of my younger days.

I will always remember this song from the beautiful album called "Harmony". I was maybe 7 or 8 living in Singapore shortly before my eldest brother died and my parents divorced. It was one of the earliest records I recalled my father had bought for me. Listening to it again brought back so many memories and emotions I had thought I forgotten.
