This woman is literally my soulmate. Everything she details is so relatable… trying to cope with the misery of work, the munchies, deluding yourself that you’re trying… it’s funny but also sad that this is the society we’ve created to have multibillionaires make more money. Truly inspiring you both are 💖

I’m love this interview with Lashay. I want to relate a very sad story about eating what everyone else eats in order to “fit in” with family and friends. I’m 62 and vegan. Several years ago before the pandemic, I tried to get a friend on mine to go vegan after I went vegan. She barely weighed 100 pounds in her 20s but had ballooned up well over 250 pounds in her 60s. I had heard about going to “Banana Island” which is to eat bananas exclusively for days or weeks. I was making a kind of joke with my friend, saying I would go to banana Island for the weekend if she would go with me. At first she said yes, but when she realized I was talking about eating bananas for 2 days, she said no. I laughed. But I told her to consider just doing a vegan meal once a week to get started. This woman ate the Standard American Diet of meat at every meal. When we would go shopping together, her grocery list centered around bacon and egg for breakfast, deli meat for lunch, and spaghetti with meatball, chicken and noodles, etc for dinner. She said she did not want to eat any other way because if she ever got together with friend or visited relatives, she would not be able to eat what they were eating. I never gave up asking my friend to go vegan. About 7 months befor the pandemic, my friend was rushed to the hospital with chest pains and shortness of breath. I had been calling her and getting no answer so I did not know that this had happened. When she called me from the hospital, she told me what was going on and that she had to have stents. She said she didn’t feel well enough to keep talking right then but would call me after the procedure. That’s the last time I talked to her. I finally got the hospital to tell me she had been “released.” But when I called her apartment manager, I could not be given any info because I was not on my friend’s emergency contact list. I sent the police who also refused any info for the same reason. Even my friend’s sister went to her apartment with the police but got no explanation.for the same reason. Authorities took 3 months to locate the emergency contact, a niece that had moved out of state to a new address. During that time my friend’s body was in the morgue and none of her friends or family knew what happened to her-that she had died and her body was in the morgue. When the hospital told me she had been “released,” her body had been released to the morgue. If she had been alive they would have said “discharged.” She died before/during/right after the stent procedure. I miss my friend so much and wonder now if she would still be alive and going to Banana Island with me. RIP ❤

I love how Lachey says progress, not perfection because that is how I am anytime I try to start something new I die then headfirst 100% and fail 100% of the time and so nothing ever end up getting changed and then I go back to the bad lifestyle or bad habit so I appreciate her pointing that out but I’m gonna keep telling myself because progress is better than staying in the bad habit something is better than nothing

I never felt better, but I let myself slip & that was it. She is so relatable & I'm so glad to hear I'm not alone & happy to see someone who WAS like me but isn't anymore. This is doable.

I really had to plan and force myself, and make myself accountable to friends. then after three or four weeks I had it down, habits and routines in place. It’s not easy.. but it becomes much much easier, and oh,not to be hard on yourself for just occasional steamed veg or cooked vegan foods; this lifestyle is all about being kind to yourself and your body, and becomes more enjoyable the longer you do it 😊

Yes, I agree with the interviewer, its okay to have some cooked plant based and whole foods from time to time because it will create a negative thought loop if you feel like you must restrict yourself to only one way of eating. As long as it is not bad, it is healthy for you, and it makes you feel good then go for it.

Gillian I'm so inspired by her story. Your guest is very nice and looking great. Thanks so much for sharing this. I love where she said she doesn't drink a lot of water while eating fruits. According to Eli, Aris Latham n co, the best water that we need to drink is to be processed by plants and not by artificial means. So if you are eating fruits you are automatically drinking water. If you are drinking coconut water, melons and the juices you are drinking water.

I am on day 7 of a juice cleanse. I relate so much to Lashay’s experience of being hard on herself for not being perfect in the past. That was me. I did a lot of work, exploring intuitive eating, which helped me drop the rules I created for myself. Now I make choices. When my husband eats a burger while I have a juice, the burger smells good, but I want the healing and feeling of the juice much more. No food is restricted though. A burger is always available to me if I do desire. I just do not desire now. My long-term goal for health, is to be 90% plant-based and high raw. Thanks for a great interview, both of you. ❤

However, i'am doing fine due to changes of my diet- fruit and Veg and I've never been so fit and well since the trauma and I continue to be doing well and even looking younger for my age. My consult can not believe how I recovered so quickly but this is due to my lifestyle around health eating and eating Raw...Thanks You Gillian for your support and sharing you raw vegan journey.

I'm never looking back, even something as simple as coffee, is addictive and then leads to wanting more, then wanting junk food, then wanting to drink... the more living foods I eat, the more I see how this is ABSOLUTELY life changing. I resonate with her story. Not so much the extreme health issues but the knowing what to do but not doing it part. I too am a new real estate agent and I don't have the energy for it. I'm vegan but I've become more of a junk food/processed food vegan since the pandemic. I gained 40lbs during 2020 that I haven't lost yet. I've been looking into more of the raw vegan way of eating. I know I feel good when I'm doing wfpb but raw would probably make me feel even better. I'm entering perimenopause and I'm starting to feel the effects of that. I would like to possibly minimize those effects if I can. Lashay is so inspiring. I wish we could be friends.

I don’t think you really can; there are some types of rice you can have raw I think, and you can spiralize raw sweet potato (or juice it) but maybe if you are really attached to those cooked go ‘high raw’ but with some of those cooked starches for a while. perhaps look up The Starch Solution (Dr. Mcdougall) as some people do definitely heal well with it and do that while thinking about transitioning to raw. Good luck on your journey 😊

I saw her video on her personal page and really enjoyed her story. This mo I started my transition. I only have had a week this month where I ate meat and dairy and the rest WFPB. I primarily eat fruit and fresh made juices until the evening meal. I was very ill last year and this mo I was introduced to WFPB and I am loving the journey and where it’s leading me. I enjoy watching these raw videos because I know mentally it’s preparation for me to give it a try. Also I am looking to heal my own respiratory issues and the extra mucus production among other things. Even w/this change I feel much better and lighter! I can tell my body enjoys it. Thank you for this interview ❤

❤ This is one of my fave interviews. Lashey packed so much information and experience into her talk. Keeping it real. It really sunk in this time, the message of not getting hung up on weightloss and choosing to focus on health and feeling good. Thank you for another great interview. 😊
