This was an amazing interview, Gillian and Lissa. You two make raw vegan eating doable. For me eating a lot of dark greens controls the cravings. Chef AJ says there have been studies which appear to indicate that dark greens control cravings. I think Doug Lyle talks about this as well. But being able to eat as much as I want is also key to my success for my mostly raw vegan diet. Thanks so much for your channel. Brenda Davis, RD, I think also says that raw vegan is healthiest.

So glad this popped up! My hearts desire is to go raw after watching this. I've always included lots of veggies with meat. As I looked into healthy meat - grass fed - I learned that rarely does an animal get to live in nature - no - they live in horrific environments. When we eat meat those animals are becoming part of us. Just recently learned that a person can thrive on raw food diet. So excited on this new life which will be fully alive (raw food) At 60 years old I want to continue to be active and fully enjoy life for all the days ahead. Raw is the answer.

I was raw a number of years ago. It didn't last too long. Maybe 4 months... I felt good, but i was living in a household with 4 other members who ate SAD. I have been vegetarian for a number of years, so i cooked my own food. I am mostly vegan now, but don't go insane if cheese or milk is in something. Recently though, like the last few months, I am back to leaning towards raw vegan again. I got Melissa's wrap book and that has been a game changer for me. My husband is a SAD eater. Doesn't eat an incredible amount of meat, but still does. I know i will not change him.... he is 73 years old. Luckily, i live with someone who cooks his own meals and i make mine. We have been together 39 years, so we make it work. He is supportive of my way of eating and I deal with his way of eating. U love this man, and i think each person has to take responsibility for themselves. He also has celuac disease. When we travel or eat out, we each make sure ee eat at a restaurant that meets each of our needs.

There isn’t much I CAN eat ... and then still sleep at night. If I could solve the digestion & insomnia issue (I think they are related), I would be thrilled and forever grateful! I love this interview, all of this content resinates with me. The topic of supplements I’ve always believed it’s just a money making industry. Unless the supplements are liquid the body can not absorb most of the ingested vitamins. The only time I feel a benefit from supplements could be had is if they are in liquid form as I already stated and if ones diet is not diverse like Lisa says. So there is a fraction of the population that has a work schedule that is challenging to eat like Lisa does. Her s Geduld is not mine or others so everyone just needs to find the way to be consistent in their food choices with the schedule they have. Thank you for this video Jillian. Aloha 🌺

Supplements do have an effect, even the non-liquid ones. Many of us have been using them to survive before learning about the proper diet. The main problem with supplements is that they're like a bandaid. If you take a supplement for digestion instead of fixing the root cause, eventually the supplement won't work anymore, similarly to pharma pills.

This is what I've been waiting for. I am trying to eat mostly live foods & I have been struggling. I consider myself a vegan for the last few years & the other day at work (RN) one of my coworkers came around with ice cream sandwiches & I actually ate one. Then one of my coworkers said "I thought you were vegan" & I had to stop & think "what is she talking about". I did not even realize I had eaten dairy because I missed my lunch because I couldn't take my lunch when I planned. I thought, how did I do this without even realizing I just ate dairy. Can't wait for the book to come out in April. I need to understand this at a deeper level.

I used to be vegan and I was about 90% raw. Not even on purpose, it just happened. Then at some point stress had left me with low appetite so I got very sick from basically not eating to the point where I was put on special medical treatment and an all inclusive diet that included so many foods I had not eaten in ages bc they were making me feel terrible (animal foods, tubers, grains, etc) I gained 50 lbs in 1.5 years and now, eventhough I was so overweight, I had lost ALL appetite and desire in food. I had regained all my acne, all my sleep issues, I had no drive to exercise. I was miserable. Then I got strep throat and needed antibiotics. Mind you, I was vegan for over 6 years and never needed any medication. However, during that course of antibiotics and the fact that my throat hurt so much, I didnt eat anything else apart from soft fruits like figs and popsicles made from orange juice. And after I recovered, I was now all of a sudden able to tolerate all the fruit I ever wanted (bc before that I could not). I'm slowly going over to a raw food lifestyle and I've never felt better. And the best thing: my appetite is slowly coming back. When I get hungry now, I actually go and eat food. I dont care what the scale says at this point, I just feel amazing and I hope this feeling wont go away

Lissa, as you mention you had Candida, and the adult acne, I bet your acne was mid-diagnosed and was more likely to be Malassezia Folliculitis (sometimes referred to as ‘Fungal acne’ even though technically it is not actually ‘acne’ and treating it as acne, actually makes it worse. Cutting out sugar as an ingredient (not natural sugar from fruits & veggies however), stops feeding the fungal/yeast/mold/bad bacteria which the Malassezia is actually nothing more than a symptom of.

I enjoyed the interview.. but im a huge fan of Robert morse and I dont feel his way is too harsh as it saved my life.. and I dont agree with fruit and vegetables should be mixed together as they are different structures and used to do different things to support detox and rejuvenation.. she looks so vibrant and healthy too.. we all do whats needed for ourselves.. great interview.. thanks for sharing..

Gillian and Lissa, you two are my favorite Raw Food people! I order 2 of your books , Lissa and tomorrow my friend and I are going to go Raw for a month. Do either of you have any suggestions for my friend. She has Ulcerative Colitis and has always been told to steer clear of fiber, which really makes no sense because fiber would help regulate her. She had a section of her large intestine removed and digests food really quickly. Any thoughts??

Hey !! Lissas books are so awesome !! One of my friends borrowed them off of me on his 30 day raw currently but they're so awesome !!!! Wow I wish you such a good month on this raw experience !! Keep me posted how it goes !!! Your friend has to do what works for her ...I don't know of anyone who has had to have a large intestine removed so I am not sure how things then affect her vs someone who has that in tact. Anyway I hope it goes great for you ! 👍 Have a good week 😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️

I think you have to find what resonates for you with each 'guru' and take a bit from each one but ultimately do your own testing on your own body and find what aligns and is best for you. For me I believe in the gut microbiome and eating a variety. I also believe in eating a lot of calories as a raw vegan. But I do also believe time to time in the power of mono fruit cleanses or juice fasts. I also do think intermittent fasting can have a lot of benefits. I don't stick to it exactly but I know from usually not eating past 5 or 6 I feel drastically better the next morning and day. So essentially it's about listening to your body and not what someone else says in my opinion.

💚I always love 'ethical' vegans. Really there is no other kind...otherwise they're not vegan. I just emptied out a lot of stuff out of my cupboards. I think I'll hang onto my raw, soaked, dehydrated nuts in case I have a hunger attack (which I already do almost everyday). Other than that I think I'm ready! Thank you both! Rashes and yeast infections are common during the detoxification process. If you are at the very beginning and doing "everything right" but still have symptoms, it means they are getting out from your body. Good luck!

This might be TMI but I've always liked brocc, brussel sprouts, cabbage etc all my life. Every brassica. But last few years if I eat more than like 4 large brussel sprouts my pee turns cloudy and it burns as it passes. I think it's getting rid of the excess calcium my body doesn't want. I haven't ruled out if low vit D is the issue because it might be more frequent in winter. I still eat them regularly though just in lower amounts lol
