You need to try the traditional pupusas of cheese and loroco and revueltas. And maybe a better pupuseria 😁. Our tortillas are thick, not really meant to be eaten like a taco, more like bread. Glad you're enjoying the food. I love bread pudin! (Budín). So cheap! It's one of my favourite desserts. You describe food so well, making me hungry 😋

The tamales are smooth from the liberal use of lard. They're also different from Mexican tamales because they are steamed in banana leaves rather than corn husks :)

They are made with pork fat. To make it smooth

Cochinito pupusas are not pork 😅…cochinito is a weird plant that grows in the fields, like a weed. The chicken was crazy, I’ve lived 35 years in SS and I’ve never had that type of meals in El Centro, that’s lower working class food. I’ll definitely have to try it. Then, do not worry about the raw egg, I’d be more worried about all the pickled vegetables (curtido) you had with the pupusas and chicken…a bacterial feast!

Small correction, I don't think that is pudding what you ate was a Budin. A Salvadorean bread made with bananas or plantains

In all fairness, budin would translate to bread pudding 😊 which is what it is. So good!

You need someone to show you how to eat our food , you make a taco like with the tortilla but in our country we don’t eat it like that you cut a piece of the tortilla and grab the meat or whatever you are going to eat with it
