a. Buying a vehicle new in El Salvador is pretty similar in cost to the US
b. El Salvador also imports used totalled cars from The US and repairs them making them a very economical option (this is what we did)
c. Gas is about $2.90-$3.15 gallon
d. Public Transportation is mostly privately owned unlike The US Government Public Transportation system
i. Buses Economical and often very crowded
ii. Taxis and Ubers also available

I really enjoyed El. Salvador but I did find it expensive. $1 dollar usd for a small bottle water. $4 on the street for 3 tiny apples and a tomato and onion and a tiny banana. $7 usd for a salad at Wendy's. $6 for a burger. $2 for gas station coffee. Many things are more expensive than the USA. If you buy some street food you will save money but you have to be aware of health issues. All the prices Ì listed are USD

It's funny when you mention about the families living all together even if they're older it's so true. When my son turned 18th he looked at me all scared and said "Ahh mom since I'm 18 does that mean I have to find a place to live?? I laugh! I told him even though I was raised in the United States that our Salvadorean tradition is to let you live with us until you're ready to move out. He's still here at 23 finishing his college degree. No sign of moving out anytime LOL!!

I’m Salvadoran; been living in the states since 1977 (7 yrs of age); naturalized citizen since 1993I. I also live with a ‘gringa’ hee hee. I never thought videos like yours were possible, needless to say I hadn’t felt much life security or interest in moving there. However, after watching your videos-I must say that I am beginning to like the lower cost of living. Your video has persuaded me. Thanks for your posts. They are informational, fun and helpful. Hope you you continue what you’re doing. ;)

I've been living away from El Salvador for the last 40 years but, in the last 5 I've been in and out plenty of times. I'm planning to live there for the rest of my days. Lots of changes are happening especially on Infrastructure, new buildings, fast train crossing the country from one end to the other, new airport, renew of ports in Sonsonate, La Union, La Libertad, Surf City is getting an overhaul, ... In 3-4 years it'll turn into a very interesting place to live. Being a small country you can live in the city or out and move around with ease, even when traffic is getting heavy. If you like warm weather, you'll be alright, lately it's getting cooler than before, though.

First of all, thank you for this great video, it is super informative and really well done. I am a born El Salvadorian but left the country since 1991 and had been living in Canada since then. I do visit from time to time but it is a different expense when you just go for a week or two for vacation rather than to be living in the country. I am planning to go back to El Salvador during the Canadian winter and then move back to Canada for our Canadian summers so I needed all the information that you had provided in the video. By the way, I got a great solution for you went it comes to Netflix and TV (USA English version) and you would only need an Amazon Fire Stick 4K ($70 one time fee), an ExpressVPN account ($100 per year) and unlimited internet (speeds of 40Mbps at least Tigo has it for about $43 a month) and a Stb Emulator provider ($15 per month) all that gives you all the channels you ever need. Again, thank you and have a great time in El Salvador.

In California, 100k is minimum wage: rent is 3500, car is 500, utilities, wifi, cell phone are 1000, car insurance, gas, food, etc you get the point. Average home in Los Angeles is 700k, mortgage interest rates nowadays is about 3.125%. Right now is a seller's market meaning low inventory, home prices are through the roof & people buying. I'm selling my home and buying one currently. Home I'm buying is over 1M, hard to believe. 1M will get you 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2500square feet, 8500 lot, pool in a decent neighborhood. Yes, please give tour of your home and describe it. I'm dying to go back to ES and thank you for this video. Very useful info.

Most people in California don't make $100K lol but I agree with you: to live a comfortable middle class lifestyle along coastal cities like SF, , LA, SD, SJ, SB you need a household income of at least 100,000 dollars a year or more. If you live in Sacramento, Fresno then the dollar goes further and most people in these cities don't make that much.

A engineer Income is between $600-1000 of course there are few people than earn a little bit more that this range. So the work-class can’t afford to pay for a good school for his children and it’s so frustrating. Right now I’m living in Australia and everything is completely different.

The minimum it's $300 so most of the people earn this much, mostly if you didn't go to the university. But if you graduated can be from $450 to $600 and if you have a good job even $1000 to $2000 Where I used to live the rent was like $50, school free but if you wanted a private school was from $35 to $50. Water service $2 and electricity $35

Buena idea.

Me and my husband are natives from here but we decided to leave the States and we currently been living here 5 years, we love life here. We live in the Country so is less expensive in utilities etc and no rent since we built our house so that lowers the budget a lot more. I love your channel

Thanks for reminding us how El Salvador, or Cusc Atlan as it was called in ancient times, is still a beautiful land to live in. I left El Salvador in 1980 at the age of 12. All my family members have returned to visit except for me. I remember having a happy childhood until the dead bodies started piling up. I do remember its beauty: El Cuco, the river, the Summer home with extended family members, walking the fields and finding small animals, the fireworks, the food, pupusas con repollo, tamales, atol negrito, El Carnaval, and nature all around. I miss seeing the old people, the ones who have passed away. I am afraid that I left when El Salvador was still independent. Now, it has no currency of its own, and I heard it sold its bank to Colombia. I hope El Salvador regains its independence again.
