Remember being shocked when I saw this scene. Violence really works best like this, off screen. The coffee scene in The Big Heat was shocking as well!

I loved the fact that Burr loved the sight of flames. He looks like he got a perverse pleasure out of watching that fire and the pain it inflicted when he used it on that girl's face.

Wow! that was great! Ray Burr showing side bad side! Too cool!

Ironic that Raymond, one of the nicest guys in the business, plays such a stinker in so many of his early films. He told me it wasn't until early TV came along that he could break the mold at least a little and then, of course, Perry Mason came along.
