Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (Michael Cimino, 1974) Opening

Фильм және анимация

Brilliantly realized "meet cute" from Michael Cimino's great debut, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. With Clint Eastwood, Jeff Bridges (in an Oscar nominated performance) and Roy Jenson as "Dunlop".

Jeff Bridges deserved that Oscar nomination for this. Great film, one of the best from the 1970s.

The Trans Am was Clint Eastwood's own personal car. He had the shaker painted Red to make it look "used".

I've kept this movie in memory because of the magnificent shootings of skies, fields, and especially the opening with the church which looks like a Edward Hopper's painting...

This was directed by the late Michael Cimino. He had a way with grand vistas and magnificent scenic backdrops--just like in "Heaven's Gate." They say in this movie, Eastwood kept him on a tight leash. The car salesman is Gregory Walcott, of the legendary "Plan Nine from Outer Space"; and also one of the cops in "Every Which Way but Loose."

Michael Cimino in interview: 'People used to say him [CEastwood], "Well, what're you doing?" He'd say, "I don't know. I'm making a movie with some twelve-year-old kid... I would ask Clint every single night, I'd say "Clint, are you happy with the footage?" And he said, "Michael, you just keep putting", quote,,, "you just keep putting your vision on the screen."'

She said yes she signed it 😎 of course most people knew her as a Daisy Duke character.

One of George Kennedy's best movies ever in my opinion. Any one knows what the hell he said here - 3:45 -- seeing Clint Eastwood run always makes me laugh. He could never really run with any true style or grace. He always ran like he stole something - because in most of his films his character always did steal something. And those chasing after him always wanted what stole back. But his runs were always sort of clumsy looking like a person who's not really made to be a runner. Clint always ran like his body was in major pain but for real not acting.

It's a Mauser Broomhandle. Could be a 9 or a 7.63. Red Chinese used them in Korea so it was probably meant to depict a weapon that the George Kennedy character picked up in the war, along with the M2 carbine he uses later.

I had one once for a short while over 35 years ago. It was pale blue with a huge gold eagle decal on the bonnet. LHD, four on the floor, and in very used condition lol I bought it for about £400 and drove it over 100 miles home. I know time and memories play tricks with us and we get all starry eyed for the past classics we've driven or longed for... I can honestly say it was a piece of shit, fabricated exhaust, tatty seats, drove slowly, noisy and thirsty as fuck. Bad Driving position, most of the electrics unreliable and went round corners like bag of sand on a skateboard. Crap acceleration, wayward steering. They say you should never meet your heroes lol. I sold the fuckin thing soon after for a loss and I was glad to see it go. So there....... Lol
