Thanks so much for doing this, guys! I really appreciate it and thank you for the kind comments. By the way, the use of "column shifts" as opposed to "dice roll modifiers" was a conscious decision. I absolutely hate doing the math of adjusting dice rolls and prefer doing the simple column shifting and then using the actual, unmodified dice roll on the final column. Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Great game. Map is probably the best I've ever seen in 55 years of wargaming.

It would be interesting to see you both do a playthru while having a discussion on camera about the ongoing game - turn by turn. I think people would watch that - not only for details on whatever game you're playing, but the interesting give and take conversations you both have - which create a good video while informative toward the game you're playing. Thanks for this video. MFS is a jewel of a game.

Thanks again for using this format. Your passion and commitment to the game under discussion and indeed the hobby in general shines through by this method--even more than the other fine ways you employ to talk about games and gaming. Feels like one is eavesdropping, but in a good way.

I've always known it as "d66" but not all rules refer to them that way.

Thanks guys. I absolutely love this game. It solitaires very well. And it doesn't take as long as you think to play the complete campaign. It moves along very well once you know the system. So buy yourselves a sheet of plywood and clamp it to your table and go!

Really enjoyed this look, thank you Alexander and Grant. Luttmann is one of my top favorite designers, he “gets it” and his games are so fun. Having said that, AMFS (Black Swan) didn’t quite gel for me (it’s an enormous challenge to design a Gettysburg game, no doubt), I still prefer the pure Blind Swords ACW games from Revolution. Lucky there’s plenty of room in our hobby for such variety. :)

This is great, gents. Thanks for the salient commentary. I like that command structure embedded in the activations, which saves having leaders on table and measuring command range as well as ‘curing’ UGO-IGO.

This is my favorite game system, by far. My biggest game related hope for 2024 is to hear that this system will be applied to a Napoleonic setting sometime soon.

I also enjoy this “raw” footage, and second the motion to include from time to time some of the footage of your play. I have not met a H. Luttmann game I have not enjoyed, and this is no exception. I never played a CW game prior to AMFS; coupled with the Rick Barber map (RIP), this game is an instant classic. Cheers!

For Mr Luttmann … what is status of the Chickamauga game ?? Love Most Fearful Sacrifice … my favorite all time game is Terrible Swift Sword … this may have eclipsed this for me

Thanks! I am currently working every day on Rock of Chickamauga. It's taken a bit longer than I originally expected. It's a pretty complex battle and I needed to first bring myself up to speed on its history and on all the things that make this battle unique. Designing the scenarios has been quite the chore - though an interesting and eye-opening chore - as the battle is a whirlwind of clashes. The rules and cards are done as are the majority of scenarios. We are entering playtesting and that should go fairly quickly. So yeah - we're working hard on it and I really think you will enjoy it. Thanks again!

Fog of war, friction of war, fortunes of war... is there a fourth one? The other one has four maybe. Find em, fix em, flank em, finish em. Something to think about, Hermann Luttmann designed the original system of blind swords. Its really the same game, just using chits instead of cards. I believe Revolution has games #9 and #10 in that series, set to release 1st quarter 2024. So if you like this game, there is a ton of material for it over at Revolution games. And the series is showing no sign of losing steam either. And to put even more icing on the cake, Mr. Luttmann has started a Shattered Union series at Tiny Battle Publishing. Two more games already, plus there's Devil's to Pay also. I definitely have to raise a toast to Hermann Luttmann (🍻) for an absolutely brilliant game system. I'm already *drooling* for The Rock of Chickmauga.

Great video as always, I love the way you guys talk about games. I checked and this game is listed at 417$ (Canadian $), near mint? Aside from building a new wing to the house to put the table required, this is a lot! :)
