Tesla FSD 12.4.1 drives from Sausalito to San Francisco with two interventions
One for failing to respond to construction workers hand signals. One after getting caught in a standoff with another car while trying to make a left turn.

Very smart to put the foot under the brake pedal
6:06 - Why the hell would you let it do that, let it try to drive around despite the flagger, then just sit there for 15 seconds creating a dangerous situation? Your access to FSD should be revoked.
6:00 the construction zone situation.

That will be a tough one to solve. How will the AI know the difference between a real worker or an idiot dressed up in high vis trying to screw with robotaxis.

Definilty need a ChatGPT Omni (vision) on top of FSD to manage those situations
06:06 construction zone; 15:33 left turn standoff
How can the driver NOT understand the road construction guy is telling him to get back in the proper lane? I’m watching this screaming at him to get over.

Its not the driver controlling the car, its the car that's controlling itself

He’s obviously trying to portray the capabilities and deficiencies of FSD to in order to provide Tesla with information on situations they need to address
I didn’t get any sound with this video??
This is when the human is supposed to intervene, and you just let the car try to go around the construction worker.
The ridiculousness of the driver sitting there like a tool and not taking control and doing something is annoying. The worker doesn't know what you are doing. Grab the damn wheel.
I can't believe the "Driver" waited so long to move the Vehicle out of the way as the flagman was clearly angry. Then the "Driver" has his foot over the accelerator, not brake, while waiting, with the flagman directly in front at close proximity. Then the "Driver" pushes a button I assume reactivating Autonomous mode to get around the flagman and continue. What an idiot. That flagman had his life on the line while the chunk of code keeps the vehicle stationary, this guy could have been injured. Impressive none the less but we are not there, yet!
1:13 It stops far back from the car in front of it. Most drivers don't seem to understand that 1/2 the world is behind them. If every car left that much room, the cars waitng for this light might back up to clog up intersections behind.
Not very good.
This is more like the driving experience here in the uk . It’s like someone who needs spectacles who can’t quite see what’s going on so is ultra cautious but it’s still impressive
6:07 is when the first incident happens. I want to know why it took so long for the driver to respond to road worker and move the car? Was he not paying attention?

Thank you Omar for the upload!
How does the driver alertness evaluation work these days? I thought the hands should slightly touch the steering wheel, however during this 20 min drive there's no touch except for the intervention. Elon Musk talked about that they are shifting the detection to cabin camera based (in case you don't wear sunglasses, etc - so they can evaluate your gaze), but is that already in effect? Because I don't see any of those Amazon steering wheel weights on the wheel either.

Update 12.4 made the cabin camera based detection a lot more strict (about 1-3 seconds of looking away will trigger the "nag") but instead of pulling on the wheel all you have to do is look up at the road again and the "nag" goes away. So no more steering wheel pulling but a lot more strict driver attentiveness (for the better imo)
What’s the timestamp for the standoff for the left turn? Didn’t notice that one.

At 3:41, it comes to the top of a hill and stops. Was it due to the car in the oncoming lane? Was it the fact it was a cross-street? Or did it read the stop sign that was angled slightly toward it?
@zachjones2285

Most likely the stop sign because it acted exactly how it would at a stop sign. Sowing down to 0 for just under a second and moving on if there are no other cars around, and good visibility. If there was not good visibility the fsd visualization would display a dark blue "wall" that we call the "creep" line. It goes to the line until it can see again, then uses it's new visibility to assess if it should be moving on or not
This would have been a good video to have commentary on
15:34 seems to be the 2nd intervention. Pressing the gas pedal after car stopped in the middle of the oncoming lane.
I'm driving my own car. Never know when it's going to make a left turn in front of traffic. At least on aircraft there is usually thousands of feet and no other aircraft around when autopilot goes bad.
how on earth Tesla stops at STOP sign on public roads but... tries to drive past the worker holding the very same STOP sign
@karenkingman1245

I wondered the same thing. My thought it is that it initially treated him as an obstacle and was going to go around him. And perhaps it never saw the sign once it made that determination.
No audio?
Hope the problem with the two interventions will be fixed in the next update.
What mode do you have the FSD on?
just make this illegal! You gotta be in the car anyway, drive it urself! Unless you can't find a parking place, just let the car wander around till ur done shopping . . .
Oh, come on.... it was so good seeing the inclined map, so we can see where the car needs to turn... And now, you already switched to thetop down view which tells us nothing.. :(...UGH....If only it was zoomed in... but no... whole map, zoomed out, we can't see any turn...
This is one fugly interior.
Either the tech is extremely difficult or Tesla is full of idiots. It’s been almost a decade of development. It’s probably more efficient to just have a kid and make the kid drive me around at this point
Garbage software. Camera only will never work.

Lmao you think other sensors will help with the contractions zone area?😂🤣. LiDAR nor radar will help with that
I have seen enough videos now to see that this version overall is outstanding! Getting much better with every release. Elon will nail it!

@@Fatman305 That's just a straight up lie! Elon: "12.4 goes to internal release this weekend and limited external beta next week. Roughly 5X to 10X improvement in miles per intervention vs 12.3. " You're just making up your own words to make it sound like Elon knew what he was talking about.. I would bet my house that 12.4.9 won't have 10X less interventions than 12.3 - Elon lies and so do his fanbois.. Good to know.
I haven’t had a chance to watch all of these uploads yet; what’s the consensus so far? Is 12.4 “better?”
