Raven Frees Trigon To Fight Darkseid | Justice Leagu Dark: Apokolips War

Following two failed attempts at conquering Earth, Darkseid and his armies continue conquering other worlds. The Justice League devise a plan to defeat Darkseid by infiltrating Apokolips while leaving the Teen Titans on Earth to defend it. Unbeknownst to them, Darkseid spies on the League through Cyborg. The League are overwhelmed and defeated by Paradooms and a majority of the heroes from both the League and the Titans are killed, while those who survive are placed into Darkseid's slavery.
Two years later, Darkseid has placed devices known as "Reapers" which mine the planet's core. The surviving heroes blame Clark Kent / Superman for leading them into failure. Superman has been forcibly depowered after Darkseid tattooed his chest with liquid kryptonite. He and Raven, who has been struggling to maintain her father Trigon's imprisonment seek John Constantine for a location spell to track Damian Wayne. Although reluctant to help at first, considering himself a coward for fleeing during the initial attack on Darkseid and leaving his lover Zatanna to die, Constantine locates Damian at a League of Assassins outpost. Clark explains to Damian they need him to help free his father Batman from Darkseid's mind control. Damian reluctantly agrees to join the group.
The group travel to Stryker's Island in Metropolis and meet with Clark's wife Lois Lane who has recruited the Suicide Squad to their cause, now led by Harley Quinn. Clark and Lois reveal their plan to infiltrate LexCorp and use a boom tube to return to Apokolips and kill Darkseid. Meanwhile, the remaining heroes launch an attack on the Reapers but are slowly killed battling the Paradooms. At the building, they are confronted by Lex Luthor, who reveals he was working with Lois to gain intel on Darkseid. The group splits into two with Clark, Raven, Constantine, and Etrigan the Demon going to Apokolips and Lois, Luthor, and the Squad remaining at the building to defend the boom tube. Batman informs Darkseid of Luthor's betrayal, prompting Batman to send Paradooms and the newly converted mechanical Furies after the heroes.
Upon arrival, Clark's group is attacked by the Furies, consisting of cybernetic versions of Wonder Woman, Mera, Hawkman, Starfire, and Martian Manhunter. Etrigan is killed by Wonder Woman, but Constantine manages to break her free using her Lasso of Truth. She decides to stay behind to fend off the other Furies as the group head on. They next rescue Flash from a treadmill powering Apokolips; Constantine learns that Flash had altered the timeline in the past. Shortly thereafter, they are confronted by Cyborg, who has been integrated into the planet's network. Constantine frees Cyborg from Darkseid's control, which also frees the remaining Furies as they are about to overpower Wonder Woman. Darkseid orders Batman to kill Damian but he hesitates when he is reminded of his parents' death, which breaks him free of Darkseid's mind control. In a fit of rage, Darkseid tries to kill Batman but is intercepted by Damian, who dies in Batman's arms. His death overwhelms Raven, her sudden emotional instability setting Trigon free. Constantine offers his body as a vessel for Trigon, but he refuses and takes Clark's body instead, purging the kryptonite from his body, restoring his powers, and killing Constantine. Trigon attacks Darkseid. Constantine is briefly visited by Zatanna in the afterlife, who reveals she used a spell to manipulate Constantine to flee back to Earth as part of a contingency plan prepared by Batman. Simultaneously, Raven and Zatanna revive Damian and Constantine.
Back at LexCorp, Lois's team is surrounded by Paradooms, prompting them to initiate a self-destruct. Lois transmits a goodbye message to Apokolips with Cyborg's assistance. Her death shocks Clark back to his senses and frees him from Trigon's possession. Constantine and Raven agree to combine their magic to give Trigon a physical body so he can continue fighting Darkseid. Cyborg reveals his plan to teleport the Paradooms back to Apokolips while dragging the planet into a boom tube with no exit. Cyborg teleports the heroes back to Earth and commences his plan. Relishing the battle, Trigon prevents Darkseid's escape as they are dragged into oblivion.
Despite their victory, Batman reveals one-third of Earth's magma has been drained by the Reapers, the planet's rotation was compromised, and that people will continue to die by the millions before the League can potentially find a solution. As a result, Constantine convinces Flash to run back in time and reset the timeline again despite knowing that the world will not be the same as before. Flash eventually agrees. Damian and Raven share a kiss as they and the remaining heroes watch as the timeline resets as a bright light covers the entire world, leaving their ultimate fate unknown.

Don't think Trigon is capable of love, but he was very proud of Raven here. She'd beat him more than once. She'd used him to fight Darkseid. She'd betrayed him. To a Demon like Trigon those actions are things to be proud of.

Trigon dropping some respect on his daughter real quick before he gets back to beating a god to death. I know Trigon doesn't have any feelings of love or affection for his daughter. But she definitely earned his respect for being able to stop him.

Respect tends to be a very healthy foundation for other emotions. I would say that in that moment he was a good father for a moment and gave his daughter a few words she earned for closure. Trigon is many things, but he is a being with standards.

He absolutely loves his daughter, but what he wants is for her to be like him and part of his legacy. He is the embodiment of evil in the DCU and wants her to herald for him in the mortal realm. Basically a daughter working at her fathers business. It just isn't love the same way you consider it because of his general cruelty and evilness.

Yes he very much loves her. His affection is just…twisted by his nature. He’s angry with her for imprisoning him, but that’s only because he wanted to bond with her as she grew up. Just…while destroying worlds in the process. Trigon takes pride in her actions, he does care for her in his own ways. He just wants her to take up the family business so to speak.

Actually, Darksied would eventually win. Trigon is powerful as hell, but without Superman as a vessel, Darksied would have eventually gotten the upper hand. Very few things in DC are as powerful as the big D.

i would like to point out trigon would not care at all if he was forever trapped somewhere as long as there is something to fight or destroy, so even if he knows their plan, they just gave him a near infinite brawl with someone that even if he was defeated will try to fight again and again forever, that is a perfect place to his liking

Well yeah. Trigon didn’t care, he knew he’d eventually be freed via some sort of magic. But he had infinite time to beat the shit out of darkseid in the meantime. And his daughter freed him, found a boyfriend and was happy, even giving him this world to conquer and this new god to fight as a parting gift. He was having literally the best day.

Trigon did love Raven. In his own twisted way. He was obssesed with her taking on his legacy and being his companion. He was never set on killing her and was always trying to convince her to go back to his side. And he always called her daughter and felt pride for her acomplishements, even of they were heroic. He was just happy she was strong.

I love how Darkseid very obviously can't survive a blackhole and tries to run while Trigon casually grabs him and pulls him into it knowing he can survive

It’s not a black hole he was being pulled into a boomtube which is a teleporter but since the boomtube didn’t have a destination he’d be trapped in it with no way to escape. Also Darksied could easily survive a black hole

The only one he seems to fear is his father Yuga Khan. And Trigon seems to close to him or even stronger than his father as he once challenge the Presence too, Khan was trapped in the Source Wall for trying to take over it/Source/Presence. The Presence and the Source are One and the Same just in Two Aspects but represents the Writer respectively. Sure he does fear it right now.

Also with himself alone, no need of army, he can Solo stomp the Entire Justice League with ease and Unleashing the Real Apocalypse End Time upon his appearance. He's obviously More Stronger Powerful than Darkseid himself. He just went from the Doomsday's Level of Power and Strength to the Galactus' Level of Power and Strength Menace. Darkseid can't even beat defeat Doomsday, and it's him who lose terribly. Literal Hellfire Energy Beam Cosmic Demonic Four Eyes Over Puny New God Negative Evil Cosmic Omega Energy Effect Eye Beams. Trigon/Skath > Darkseid/Uxas, Actual Demons > Parademons. LOL

Both of Them are Actually Personifications of Evil in their aspects to be honest, There are a lot of Characters that represents it. Still the Ones who truly Surpass them are those of Perpetua the True Evil Creator and Mastermind of the Whole DC Multiverse herself. At her True Outerversal/Omniversal Cosmic Scale Size at the Beginning of Creation She hold the ENTIRE Multiverse itself On Her Hands simply. I don't care what DC fans say and claim, like how people keep saying "Trigon fought The Presence/The Source once" bruh that is just Off-screen we don't know what happened there and even if he fought he still Lose to the Presence anyway just like others, he just have an Iron Ball Courage to face the Presence BUT Don't Mean he actually won against Him, he just survived from it But don't Mean he's that Top Scale in the Cosmic Hierarchy, there are still Many Other Characters Entities that Stand above him like Dr Manhattan Perpetua's race The Hands Perpetua who was The Source's/The Presence's Servant and The Empty Hand Great Darkness's Servant etc., I hate Powerscaling so much, I say from what I research myself from many sources and details. Both Trigon and Darkseid are just Multiversal One. The One who truly Outerversal Omniversal Scale is those of Perpetua Lucifer of Vertigo version etc. Also tbh I mean Im not even DC nor any Superheroes Comics Fan Expert But I do research all the details and lore of almost all of them including the Multiverse or Dimensions beyond and around it and anything. They're Full Of Contradictions a lot and was falsely used by people to suits their own preferences. The Writers also do their jobs so bad. They write Perpetua (Their Own Meta Representation who responsible for All Crisis Events milking the DC Comics Industry) to be the One Who Truly Behind Everything All Crisis In the First Place that Caused ALL These Evils to come, THEN Seconds in Events Later Bring Back Great Darkness with ALL THE SAME SIMILAR PATTERN like her and Earlier Event that just recently ended and start it over again. Bruh. I mean People Fans should read their comics series they following much more clearer clearly, that THERE ARE MANY VERSIONS OF IT. Multiverse of DC have 52 Realities with the Sphere of the Gods which Apokolips WAS THERE Too, and Monitor Sphere etc. Now the infinite universes return after Perpetua's death and so on, they should already give this Franchise a Happy Ending NO more Crisis Ever Agian after she the True Mastermind gone BUT NO, Reuse the old events again milking it ignore the Lessons in Death Metal give to them the Writers... GREAT. Hope they dont ruin it and her character in Animated Adapations Movies Series unlike in Comics, their Concluded Stories of the Whole History of DC 80 Years of Real Life are so Great Interesting for me.... It's funny to me to see Trigon laughing while dragging Darkseid into the black hole portal. Since he very much knows he'll survive but finds it humorous that Darkseid is afraid of it and panicking.
I hope for a sequel where Trigon returns with Darkseid serving him.

It's kinda funny when you think about it. That body is simply an avatar, and Darkseid can dispel it whenever he wants. So considering he didn't, he likely derives some entertainment from this eternal scuffle. He probably just sits around watching them fight whenever he has nothing better to do 🤣

But if he did, well, it wouldn't exactly end well for him. After all, Darkseid kinda killed the entire Quintessence, including Spectre, with a wave of his hand.

1:20 Superman is like "He is all yours, bye."
This is the best part of the entire movie. Trigon telling Supes to hit the bricks, his final words to Raven, and then the beat down on Darkseid gets me every time.

Think the whole avatar thing was debunked/is a misconception. Darkseod changes dimensional form when he travels via boomtube to the 3rd dimension, just like the heroes change when they travel to Apocalypse. Because it's all relative, we don't see a difference. They've beat him in his "true form" many times, pretty sure this was one of them.

So Trigon saying to superman "Go, unless you'd fight me for the Right to destroy him" then to Darksied " And NOW! Let's see who shall rule and who shall serve" is platinum dialog writing. Trigon is a ancient so his logic is as archiac as it is cosmic by nature. The Right to Destroy is what we would interpret as the Right to Own, because what is a Master to a Slave fundamentally, it's Someone controlling the Fate of another holding the Right to their Destruction. Trigon basically just claimed Darksied as chattel or in modern terms a Prison Bitch.
This movie checked all the boxes for me
Whoever thought about getting Trigon out in this movie needs to get an applause

They initially made Trigon posses Superman (who was weakened by having kryptonite in his blood or something) because they needed someone strong enough to defeat Darkseid. Then Superman managed to get Trigon out of his body after seeing Lois's death on a big screen, and by some magical reason Superman got his suit and haircut back and also removed the kryptonite from his body. At this point Trigon's aura/soul was loose so they trapped it in the sphere you see at the beginning of the video.

@0zone_X That's 10000% incorrect. You really oughta look some stuff up about Darkseid. Trigon is a demon. A really badass demon, sure, but just a demon. There are other versions of Trigon across the multiverse. There is only 1 Darkseid. There will only ever be 1 Darkseid. Any time you've ever seen Darkseid, it's just an Avatar. A "shard". Darkseid himself, his true being, is an existence that is so incomprehensible, so physically massive, that he would destroy all of creation simply by bringing his true self into reality. The only reason he doesn't do that is because he doesn't want to destroy everything, he wants to rule. Darkseid has survived RETCONS MADE BY THE WRITERS TO REBOOT THE UNIVERSE. DARKSEID REMEMBERS WHAT GOLDEN AGE SUPERMAN WAS LIKE. He's an OBSCENELY overpowered character who's power can't even be quantified in any meaningful sense. He's literally meant to be the evil mirror of Superman. Superman, the character who, by his writer's own admission, is "As strong as he needs to be in order to win." Unless he's fighting Darkseid, in which case, yeah, there's a genuine, honest to gods chance that Superman is about to get fucking murdered by Darkseid, because that's a thing that Darkseid can do, and HAS, done. And I don't mean with Kryptonite or magic either. I'm talking straight "Nope, I have beaten you hard enough and long enough with my fists that you are now dead, Superman." I'm talking "Nope, I have blasted a fucking hole through your chest with Omega Beams, you are fucking dead Superman." The question isn't if Trigon was holding back against Darkseid. It's if Darkseid was holding back against Trigon. And he was. Because Darkseid holds back against LITERALLY everyone. Even. Superman.

@@achmahnsch I have. There's nothing about Trigon that poses even a small threat to Darkseid. The fact that Trigon could be contained or locked away by Raven is proof enough of that. Darkseid erases entire universes *on accident* as a consequence of him just existing. Trigon has to *try* to destroy a universe. It's something he has to think about, and put effort into. It's the difference between an ant being killed by a much bigger, stronger ant (Trigon), and an ant being killed by human(Darkseid) on accident as the human walks through their garden. Look up Darkseid by Imaginary Axis here on youtube, you'll see what I mean.

@Igz If I recall correctly everytime some one says "Oh its an Avatar of Darkseid" its actually just Darkseid as 1) Darkseid hates using Avatars and 2) The Way boom tubes work is they scale who ever goes through it to that world (Hence why Batman in a Boom Tube can withstand fighting Darkseid, and why Darkseid tends to lose when boomed to earth), Now Trigon being Trigon is unaffected by this because (Like The Presence) he is Omniversal (Meaning there is only 1 Trigon, and he is in EVERY verse of DC, Like Lucifer Morningstar and Michael)

Since we're talking about multiple retcons and conflating them, I'll get straight to it..true form Darkseid in the formless all powerful sense isnt canon anymore bc he was destroyed in final crisis new 52. Secondly, this is apokolips. This is THE Darkseid. Apokolips exists inside the sphere of the gods. Dc reality exists of 52 universes, the sphere of the gods, the monitor realm. You're saying this cant be Darkseid.. then where would he be?? He cant be inside the monitor. Outside of that means Outside of dc existence...even true form Darkseid isn't outerversal. Darkseid and all new gods reside inside the sphere of the gods and use avatars when interacting with the 52 universes aka the multiverse. Dc hierarchy is convoluted and suffers from too many retcons. In any case though, Trigon outclasses Darkseid every day of the week.

Trigon was definitely the Godzilla Threshold. They couldn't be sure Trigon wouldn't obliterate the Earth as well. But, Trigon was livid at one thing. Nobody, NOBODY gets to hurt Raven without HIS say so! He may have taken over Superman, but he did it to burn the Kryptonite ink out of him, and wasn't too mad when Kent forced him out, he just took on Darkseid himself, even offering to let Superman fight him if he felt like destroying Darkseid, instead of just swatting Supes aside like he could easily do so.

Two of my favorite moments. I like seeing villains perform uncharacteristically good deeds.
I’m glad so many people are commenting on trigon loving raven. Trigon in the comics desperately wants raven to join him and rule at his side, he loves her wholeheartedly but won’t let her get in his way necessarily. What’s better, he has all the power in the world to end her, but let’s her win because he’d rather her be corrupted and join him later than kill her. Compared to Darkseid, he is quite possibly the only being in the universe capable of dominating him. Superman can win sure, trigon however *toys* with darkseid. Very different
