after two years, i'm finally finished with this piece. I had my last concert w the orch last month and it was truly such a wonderful and beautiful piece. also love the clap at the beginning

Absolutely stunning. Props to the accompanist as well! Doesn’t look easy playing a whole orchestra with just 2 hands!!

Bravo!! One of my favorite concertos of all time and I never thought I could be moved so much without the orchestra. The tempo was perrrfect! The passion was real... 15 minute mark was 😭😭😭 So beautiful! Thank you for sharing and being amazing Vivian!

This makes me to tell my piano teacher that I want to duet Ravel's concerto in G! That accompaniment looks very tricky though

Was the pianist playing the orchestral part really sight read the entire thing on the spot? God, I really am a bad sight reader.

Of course not! They have rehearsed this performance together many times and she is only using sheet music because usually accompanists do (I am not too sure myself why they do, but I know that the soloists do not use sheet music because Liszt started that habit of performing without one)

If the accompanist sight read on spot then they will not be that coordinated with each other (I think, I certainly am not that coordinated with an accompanist the very first time in rehearsal, especially if the accompanist is sight reading)

Yes Celine is correct, in fact this accompaniment is known for being difficult so usually the second pianist will have to learn it well like they would a solo piece ☺️ Don't worry about your sight reading, everyone can improve ❤️ I am not a great sight reader either!

For sure 😍 Ravel got some extra jazz inspiration touring the US a few years before he completed this concerto 🤗 Check out his violin sonata too if you like this jazzy Ravel style 😊
