When I was a kid, my father took us to work in his apartments from the time we could tell a hammer from a nail. Your kids show that you have worked with them and given them tasks that give them confidence and patience with adults and the animals. You two have gotta be doing a lot of things right. Rascal will soon be a great hunter.

Wow! Great job Rascal! It's like he was thinking "That muskrat is MINE!" He kept at it and kept following the muskrat - especially downstream so that the "scent" would be flowing toward him in the water so he could track his prey. So proud of him! and of Olive - her first mink!

That’s awesome that this technology now exists in small enough instruments that your minks can wear it. It might have prevented your losses in the past (I remember your stories). It’s great work you and your animals do and it’s so much better for the local wildlife to do precise pest control this way, rather than trapping or using poisons that can affect unintended species.

I've wondered how hunting with Joe (and others) changes the minks hunting habits? I get Joe and others help guide the mink using the stones and calls and that sort of thing. But when it comes to the mink taking the prey down, is this just as it would happen "in the wild"? Or does hunting with Joe bolster the minks confidence to take prey down, or is there basically no difference when it comes to that part of the hunt?

Up in Alaska mink live in -50 F and down in Louisiana they live in over 100 F. They just need enough shelter to get out of the wind and the wet in the winter, and cool water to swim in and shade in the summer.

@@JosephCartertheMinkMan of course I asked because I had a question about how the American mink escapees from fur farms managed to live here in Greece and triumph in such a different environment from their homeland... Now I know why 😅 of course, here in Greece I don't think they give us permission to keep minks as pets... Only ferrets... so unfortunately I won't be able to keep one... however, if it was allowed I would do it and of course I would give it a lot nice cage under my big backyard shed with very good coverage!!! Thanks again for the informations 🙏🏻👍🏻 keep up your great videos we love them so much👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Mink Man is mentally alive in world where far too many people are mentally lazy. You can see that from several examples such as when he mentions farmers setting traps and putting down poison for rats for ten years before finally arriving at the conclusion that these might not be working. And perhaps even that rats deserve respect for their intelligence. But if I’ve understood correctly this episode is muskrat hunting whereas the ratting is pest control.
