My favorite heavyweight fighter ever. I love Ali of course too- but Joe gets nowhere near enough respect. He was a bit undersized, he worked his ASS off in a slaughterhouse and still trained, and he was all class. And that left hook was maybe the best left hook in all of boxing history. Joe's the MAN- a real inspiration. RIP

Yep well that's absolutely the truth there would be no Longwood Ali wouldn't even be in the running for the greatest if it wasn't for the 1st and 3rd fight with Joe Frazier. Ali dirtied up the second fight with all the holding the illegal holding behind the head he did so that still turned out to be a decent fight but not anything like the fight of the century and not anything like the Thrilla in Manila. 8oz gloves 111 degrees plus the humidity 30,000 people in the Philippines most most of which chain smokes cigarettes just imagine fighting in an environment like that going 15 rounds so many back and forth so many switches and momentum I don't know how Muhammad Ali was not bleeding internally with this body shots chose Landing not that he didn't land his share to the jaw as well but I mean Joe Frazier completely dominated the first fight for the most part even though you know Muhammad Ali did have his brief moments and he had a. Of three rounds where he dominated the fight but he couldn't hurt Frazier he certainly swelled as face up but anyway that's just the fight of the century The Thrilla in Manila was it a whole different ball game I don't know how either one lasted as long as they did. Ali had asked to quit and have his gloves cut off at the end of the 14th he felt like he was going to die but Eddie futch having a blind Fighter for all for the most part had already decided to call to fight. So when Muhammad Ali's Corner completely ignore his request that they cut off his gloves he was informed that Frazier would not be fighting 15s rounds and if they're standing up and barely raising one arm because he was so exhausted he completely collapsed. Similar to the fight of the century where I didn't agree with any of the scores I mean I think it's obvious 9rounds the six for Frazier. I mean that's not to take away from Muhammad Ali I didn't think he had it in him to absorb a beating like that. That's what gained him my respect and he lost a lot of it by his dirty tactics in the rematch but he certainly gained it back in the third fight. There will never be fights like that again

@@joshuatree5620 Exactly. Hence the saying "styles make fights". You had 3 styles with these guys that were basically the "rock-paper-scissors" of boxing: -The pure boxer (Ali) -The pressure inside fighter (Frazier) -The powerful slugger (Foreman) The outside boxer is favored vs the powerful slugger but weaker vs the inside fighter. The inside boxer is favored vs the pure boxer but weaker vs the slugger. And of course the powerful slugger is favored vs the inside fighter but weaker vs the pure boxer. There's not a better proof of this than Ali-Frazier-Foreman... another good example is Cotto-Margarito-Mosley. Repeat (everyone say it out loud): styles make fights. "A beat B and B beat C, therefore A also beats C" is very often naive and completely wrong- I can think of too many examples to even list. And I'm sick of having the argument with people who poorly comprehend this point.

Ali was not around before rapping........ the slaves brought African "call and response" music to this country. The elements and improvisational nature of this music which they used to sing on the fields eventually found its way into the freestyling and improvisational nature of blues, jazz, and rock...... hip hop as a culture which contained rap and break dancing was an extension of that musical culture. What was blues? It was black singers "freestyling" improvised words about their life struggle over some sort of musical accompaniment. Rap is an extension of that merely. Period

Inspired the first Street talk but the only man to back it up with the street walk. He is secretly the first element of hip-hop.....in my opinion anyways.

I once met him in a bank lobby in Chicago...way past his main prime...He had such a larger then life quality in every way...I was pretty much speechless...I saw him walk in from across the street and ran over to say hi. Yeah Tyson in his prime miight, have given Ali some pause...but in my mind...Ali .....IS the Greatest boxer in all history and when you add in his attainments as a man ....his political smarts...his Hugeness as a Human Being.....To me....it goes past race stuff...and I'm not denying those insane awful realities.......into an example of power combined with grace that the whole world paid attention to....Even gone now...still...to me...the Greatest......It would be insulting to deny the racial issues that are part of everyone in these last crazy centuries...but somehow he absorbed the full knowledge of that....never denied it...put it OUT-FRONT...adopted the Muslim wisdom at a cost to his career.....but in such a courageous way..... that...I'd bet even some KKK creatures in their "hearts" , if that muscle can be called a heart in such demented cases....had to secretly respect the obvious.....a MAN so obviously wonderful and truthful and courageous that only a soul-sick animal could deny it....I'm preaching to the choir I know....But wow....When you see the highest examples of what a person can do......I feel good just thinking about him.....The MEMORY of such a person has more value then the living life of many lesser people....

Joe Frazier was hospitalized for just over A month in intensive care too!! Same as, after their 2nd fight!!! + Ali absolutely FLOGGED George foreman!!!, Whereas, foreman absolutely anhialated joe!!! Sure this is good but the fact you even talked about McGregor's trash talk and the fact millions of others talk about it factually make McGregor better in terms of promotion to a fight. McGregor is by far one of the best promotional fighters so far. Dram = attention. Even though Ali won that fight, both fighters expended all that they had in the ring that night and both of them came about as close to death as any boxer could without crossing over to the other side. Ali had gift of gab, Frazier did not; however, Ali gave him "lay-ups" so he could have a decent comeback. Ali might be the overall most talented entertainer in history. He could have been a legendary stand-up comedian, actor, or a top pro-wrestler very easily.

Ali wanted that title back bad yiu think he went in thier and said i like joe ill let him go the distance.meanwhile joe is the one who carried muhammad.giving him $$$$ while suspended and lobbying for alis right to fight.stupid and very unkind comment.
