CHUCK MCCANN, A CLASS ACT IN HIMSELF.

Dear Chuck McCann, We kids from the 1950,s and 1960's have the same feelings for you and your shows as you have for Lauel and Hardy.

Chuck did a dead-on vocal of both Laurel and Hardy. He did both on his afternoon TV show in the 50's.

Ah, Chuck McCann. How many of us grew up on him and his TV shows. A pity that kids today won't experience such talent! I've met him and he's a truly nice guy. Just a cryin' shame that so little footage of his comic genius remains. Maybe there's still an undiscovered storage vault somewhere out there... one can only hope. Thanks for posting this.

I watched Chuck every day after school, and on "Let's Have Fun" on the weekends. He dressed as various characters and read the comics to us, plus the L&H puppets and all. And he did both voices impeccably.

My kids love Stan and Ollie. I was a fan when I was 6 years old..I'm now 55!

Remember Chuck McCann very well on WPIX in New York. Watched him every day after school and also Officer Joe Bolton with the Stooges and Our Gang. What a treat!!

Chuck (whom I remember well from his 1960s kids' show on WPIX, New York) is right, Laurel & Hardy were hilarious. Anyone who has seen "The Piano Movers" laughs at the mere thought of it. I discovered them around 1970 (I was in college), when their films were shown on local TV late at night. Their humor was fresh, funny and anarchic then, as I'm sure it would be to young people now. Thanks for posting.

Gray skies are gonna clear up. I had many gray days but Chuck made them sunny at days end..Stan Laurel was and still is a real treasure..

I always thought Chuck was so funny. Just his expressions alone are hilarious and priceless. Also seems like such a down to earth good guy.

Thank you so much! Is the rest of this interview available? I’d also love to see the full skit by McCann and Dick van Dyke. Chuck McCann leaves me convinced that he was as kind and sweet a gentleman as Stan. And if anyone’s dubious about how different telephone policy was once, I was 15 in 1976 and phoned Los Angeles information from Georgia to ask for the number of Ray Bradbury. The operator couldn’t give it to me but she took my number, called him and he called me back! We spoke for ten minutes and days later a package of his autographed books arrived. Over the years I often wished I knew who that wonderful lady was so I could thank her. There are such kind people in the world.

Something is wrong here, Chuck Mccann says at the age of 12 he called Stan at his apartment in Santa Monica, The Oceana. Stan moved into the Santa Monica apartment in 1960 and Chuck was 12 yrs old in 1946.

I watched Chuck McCann everyday when I was a kid . He was an 11 on a scale of 10.

Chuck is exactly right. I love watching Laurel and Hardy. At times I would laugh so hard I would cry. And it made my day goes so much smoother. I was only a kid watching reruns in black-and-white and loved every minute of it. This is the Legacy we need to save and continue to play on any social media, and even television. I've heard so many stories about Stan Laurel being so kind and intelligent oh, and he was a family man and loved his family, and children.

Dear Chuck I have listen to your interview several times and love it. I have nephew and nieces in the Philippines. They are still young enought ot see these films as I did when I was a kid. and I want them to see them as I did.

Anyone recall that short time in the 80s I think, there was a series called "Laurel & Hardy Laughtoons" which was a collection of 5 minute snippets of many of their silent films-wonder where they are now?

Now all the sound shorts are available on a TCM 10 disc set in the US.

I got into these guys through Dick Van Dyke and it's the best thing to happen❤❤

Oh yes, Captain Jack... I do remember him now. I think I recall that he would introduce the Popeye episodes and give a little background on each one the way the Officer Joe would with the Stooges and Our Gang.

No, it's "another nice mess". Although one of their shorts is titled ANOTHER FINE MESS for some reason, Hardy never said "fine mess". But, everybody thinks he did.
