Rare Interview - Bobby Fischer On Women

Ойындар

Clip property of the Canadian Broadcasting Corportation
TRANSCRIPT
"The women aren't really very good players, I mean I guess I could give every one of them a knight and still win easily. Even the world champion, this Russian woman, Bykova. Their own knight, easily."
"Why-why is this, do women make bad chess players?"
"Oh, they're terrible chess players. I mean, some are better than others, you know, but, uh..."
"Why do you say that?"
"They never play in men's tournaments. I don't know why, I guess they're just not so smart :)"
"Does this apply to all women, do you think?"
"Well, I guess so, I don't know - they have turned out a good woman chess player. Never one that could ever stand up against a man, in the history of chess."
"Do you enjoy playing against women?"
"Nah, I've never played a women in a tournament game."
"Would you?"
"I'd play 'em, but, uh... I don't think they'd wanna play me."
"Would you call yourself a misogynist?"
"Excuse me, what's the definition of that word..."
"A woman-hater?"
"No..."
"No?"
"No... not really."
"What do you think of women?"
"When it comes to chess, uh... not too much."
"What about outside chess?"
"Well, I don't think they should, uh, mess in the, in the, intellectual affairs, you know what I mean. They should keep strictly to the home."
"'A woman's plays is over the hot stove,' ey?"
"No they can't cook, but uh stay in the house, cleaning things."
"What-what can they do?"
"Well, you know... they should just be at home, waiting for the man to come home and that's all."

Men have never had to deal with discrimination in chess, people questioning why they've attended tournaments, people assuming they're the spouse of a player rather than a genuine chess player. It's honestly disgusting how rampant sexism is given how women were the ones who brought us into this world.

@@ArchitectGG Top female chess players cannot compare themselves to male ones because they aren't even at their level, it would be discrimination if they were both at the same level but one side is receiving more respect. Woman now don't experience discrimination when attending chess tournaments, their are less woman at the tournament but that's just because less sign up to play. There is a woman's only section of chess but not a Mens only section, woman can play in the male dominated tournaments but men cant play in the woman dominated tournaments, so they are in favor. From my experience it seems that people are being taught not to express sexist behavior , so I'm not to sure how it is rampant.

    @timothyjholloway

Uh, back when "the truth" as you put it was just a different set of lies that everyone agreed on. Different from the set of lies we agree on now. And it's changing so much that anyone who has the audacity to insist on the lies and contempt of yesteryear gets "cancelled". People still aren't getting it right because they fail to recognize that, fundamentally, it's about responsibility and basic consideration and without doing what works for us and makes us happy, there are all these gaps that get filled with bullshit to sell to the dumbest people first, the same people that lower our standards so much that even the intelligent are exploited. After all, any "justice" would undermine the way people are being fleeced and slaughtered and the rich and powerfull wouldn't be able to bullshit us in the same way, which makes more work and less money for them. Cancelling irresponsible and inconsiderate people who dare make it anyone else's problem would solve problems. But most people just can't bear to raise standards for themselves and each other. That would make them "uncomfortable" and most of them are too stupid to adapt to anything better than what they're used to unless all the work is done for them, hence very expensive Apple products. Am I speaking the truth here? Should I be cancelled for saying it? Life is just. Look at how the world is changing and things are getting worse and people are still keeping a positive attitude while doing nothing of consequence to fix anything, so it'll keep getting worse for everyone who isn't willing to take advantage of everyone else.

Females for whatever reason, don’t enjoy games as much as males. Unless you can prove that men indeed have a neurological advantage in chess over women, the question as to why there hasn’t been a female world champion can only be answered with speculation. He didn’t speak ‘truth’ you see, he spoke an observation, which misogynistic simpletons like you love to label as ‘truth’ as long as it fits your agenda. You have to understand there are much much more male players who play chess than female players, hence a bigger pool for talent. It’s not a woman-man difference, Judit Polgar proved exactly that. She used to be rank 8 in the world and qualified for the Candidates. Fun fact: Magnus Carlsen gave rook odds to IM Lawrence Trent in blitz games and bet that he could win four games out of 10. After 9 games, he had won four. So, yes, Fischer could have beaten Elizaveta Bykova (women's WC at the time) with knight odds. As a woman, I'm not offended by this at all, although I would disagree with him. He was very young here and socially inexperienced. Also, it was the ?1960s. His ideas here where the norm in the 1950s. He is being open and honest. It's lying con men, users and abusers I don't like. Bobby Fischer seems to always tell the truth as he sees it, no matter the consequence. From what I've seen so far, I like him.
