"The song of the piano like speech. The song of the cello, an elegy. And the song of the guitar was a song." Beautiful way of putting it! :)

The piece is "Hommage: pour le Tombeau de Claude Debussy" by Manuel de Falla. This elegy for the great French composer, who had encouraged the young De Falla, was composed in 1920, two years after Debussy's death. It was first performed by Miguel Llobet. Llobet was a pupil of FrancescoTárrega, and the most important guitarist of his generation. It was he who transmitted Tárrega's teachings to the young Segovia.

The thing about Segovia is that his personality is so very captivating. If he tells you his guitar is the very best in world, you better fcking believe it! Such an incredible personality and a wonderful musician. I only wish I knew about him before he died, but unfortunately I was only 17 and was too young to appreciate hits talents.

Segovia & Debussy are legendary. I am a guitar player of 34 years now, but around 15 years ago I started playing the organ. I'm not a classical player on either instrument, although classically trained on guitar. People knock the keyboard instruments, but in truth a great musician can make a full range of subtle tones come from any chromatic instrument. Listen to the great Jesse Crawford play a relatively cheap( $789) Hammond Chord Organ, it sings! Listen to my video response -Clair De Lune orgn

Segovia was the greatest of all times. All this colouring is a lesson for all the empty no colufoul guitar school of today . The best romantic guitar player of all times by far,Julian BREAM is second,Alexandre Lagoya was the Third and then all the others He has the character and the sound of the fokl spanish guitar mixed with serious classicism
