RARE Audio: Canadian Poet Douglas Lochhead, 1969

The Founding librarian at Massey College, at what was then known just as The Library as it had not yet been named, was also the president of the League of Canadian Poets, an organization still ongoing today, celebrating Canadian poets. In 1969 there was a big gathering where poets got the opportunity to read some of their poems. Among them was its president at the time, Douglas Lochhead. A book followed titled New Poems of the Seventies, which Lochhead edited along with Raymond Souster. In the depths of the Davies archives, we found a cassette with this rare recording. We were able to get help from he UofT media commons to turn this audio digital and save it. We are sharing it here with you today. Lochhead is a pillar in Massey History.
Many thanks to Mark Pellegrino at the Media Commons for helping us with with the audio.
