Cool bro ! I remember when these were relatively cheap & plentiful to buy, years ago from surplus stores. They were designed to be cut in half, where the middle flat portion is.. each half was to be put in the side cargo pocket of your BDU pants. Each side is nearly "evenly weighed" so one cargo pocket doesn't have more weight than the other. One of the more complete & unique survival kits.

That's the best fishing kit I have seen in these survival kits.

I got one of those knives when I was ten from my grandpa. And I still have it!

I have a couple of them. The flat tip blade is screwdriver/bottleopener. Can opener is the more curved one, and it works but is slow. Fourth tool is the "awl punch", for making holes.

Really kewl! I like the survival kits as much as the rstions.

When you're looking at older survival kits, I recommend keeping packets of alcohol wipes, or a bottle of rubbing alcohol, just off camera. Nowadays I use that stuff all the times.

Okay I would think this would mostly be issue items for a long range patrol. Like the packaging but the people that are using it are not needing “emergency”equipment. I have had the military pocket knives.. they are good but you need time to put an edge on them. The bottle opener with the screw driver has been useless for a decade. I would not want to just be handed a cosmoline pocket knife that required sharpening…

you can use a coin to open pocket knife blades, and deploying all that is contained in a pocket knife at once puts extra strain on spring rending it much more dangerous (bad example for the novices, like giving them a loaded gun

Always the same stuff in us military kits. Try and get a ww2 barter kit that's the holy grail. They are on eBay sometimes

The knife had a blade, bottle opener with flat blade screwdriver, then the can opener and finally an awl.
