Actually we have several companies, who produce MREs, if you want anything close to the state MRE, you need to get to Voentorg(a chain of stores associated with MoD). Love from Russia!

What is popular is to heat the side meats up and eat with and or mix in the mains soup or those savory freeze dried ones. Personally I'd rather have more coffee than chocolate because it is basically a 24hr cold wether meal. But over all it's a good one like most of the russian meals are. That sausage looks like the pate that was more common in the older ones..

i've thought long and hard about crafting an MRE myself (*former U.S. Infantryman). and the Russians and I are like 70+% in agreement on what should be in an MRE. there are some arguments to be had about how many carbs should be in one. carbs are easy to eat, cheap ingredient that provides energy, but lower in nutrition, and can be more difficult on digestion, (filler) etc. versus having more meat & fat etc. my favorite thing about Russian MREs are that they provide real nutrition for the soldier.. you could pretty much live on Russian MREs.. you could not live on U.S. MREs.. in fact you'd feel sick, and have bathroom issues. and the ingredients in the Russian MRE have less preservatives, and less sugar etc
