RARE 1988 THROWBACK: "TYSON VS. SPINKS" PRESS CONFERENCE!

Ойын-сауық

Mike Tyson vs. Michael Spinks was a boxing match which took place on Monday June 27, 1988. Both men were undefeated and each had a claim to being the legitimate heavyweight champion. At the time, Tyson held the belts of all three of the major sanctioning organizations (World Boxing Council, World Boxing Association, and International Boxing Federation) while Spinks was the Ring champion and was considered the lineal champion.
Held at the Atlantic City Convention Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey and promoted as "once and for all", it was the richest fight in boxing history to that point, grossing some $70 million, of which Tyson earned a record purse of around $20 million and Spinks $13.5 million. Tyson won the fight, knocking out Spinks in 91 seconds

That snake in the grass Don King was a huge part of it. Kevin Rooney had no idea that it was coming. He found out in December 1988 reading it in the newspaper. Really sad. What could have been.

You know you’re absolutely right and at one point you see Mikes head face first on the table and I’m sure the powers that be had someone whisper in his ear “ Mike get your head off the table we can’t have your head face first on the table while millions of people are watching the press conference “. That’s how things work in that world.

Why do billionaires want a round of applause when they tell you how much money they just made? I once work for a huge PCB builder on a shit temp contact real low pay. One day they called us into a prefab with chairs set out in front of a large TV set. It was a presentation by this old creep entitled “20 billion and beyond” He was chuffed with his profit and thanked everyone. No bonus, nothing, just thanks. Then within a year all jobs where re contracted to people in Malaysia so that they could pay even less for the labour. The place was then shut down. He should have called his presentation video “20 billion now fuck off”
