In this video I restore a 1956 Nylint Electronic Cannon Truck. It was manufactured for only a few years and good ones are hard to find. Nylint Company competed with Tonka in pressed steel toy sales.
This truck is completely dissembled and rebuilt from the ground up. All of the parts are cleaned and/or repaired. The trucks electronics do not currently work. I will attempt to repair the electronics and make this truck 100% functional again. The body parts are sand blasted and then powder coated. The steel parts are cleaned in rust remover. A broken plastic gear is repaired using a mold from a working gear. Then if it works I will test it out and show the results.
In 1956 it cost $12.95, if you calculate the price adjusted for inflation it would cost $124.54 in 2021 dollars.

This is the most complicated/complex toy I've seen on your site. This was back when toys were made to be fun... not so much safe lol. What kid wouldn't want sparks, smoke and shooting cannons. I want one now.. Great restoration - you never cease to amaze. Thanks

This toy does not have the function of smoking. I have it! The resaturator created a scenographic effect with a firecracker. However, it really is a wonderful and complicated restoration job. Congratulations! Good job.

Im 74 and I got one of these for Christmas back in the 1950’s along with a “spotlight vehicle”. It was one of my favorite toys ever! I would set up all of my toy army men and blast them from across the room. When I was away at collage, my grandmother gave my trunk full of memories away to my little cousin. Thanks a hell of a lot granny! I wish I had that box full of treasures now to pass along to my grandson. Thanks for the memories.

I still have mine from late 1950’s!
Holy crap they made awesome toys back in the day. I can't imagine toys today would last half as much as these.

You got that right! Even the wheels were solid rubber. This thing weighs a ton too.

Tonka toys still do.
In 1956 these sold for $12.95. In 2021 dollars, adjusted for inflation, it would cost $124.54 today.

This is quite a complex toy; it must have been expensive when it was new. Great resto! Love the target you picked.

I was thinking the same thing. They are great that they are made of pressed steel but I bet it priced it out of a lot parents budgets. I broke Dales cigarette in one of the shots. =(

I never saw that before not even in my youngest years if I had I would have begged for it’s really awesome.
Great job on the truck I loved it! My girls love the king of the hill shots thanks for the smiles on my kids face.
Sounds like someone was out flying there P-51 over your shop that day
I had the early 60's model of that. Back when toys could put your eyes out!
VERY cool restoration. Can't believe you were able to find some important replacement parts for it.
I saw an electric magnet crane done before, but this is about the most Swiss-watch thing I've ever seen! Looks great. The ultimate Cold War toy.
BoyItellyawhutmanthatdangolcannongoesboomman. Ingenious fix on the gear!
My dad is 72 years old, and is a retired artillery LtC., with a career spanning 22 1/2 yrs. Would love to get him one of these for his desk.
This is awesome! I like toy restoration videos generally, but this is significantly more complex than most. Thank-you.
EXCELLENT. It always amazes me how people can find something wrong with this and give a thumbs down.
Great restoration, not gonna lie, when you were pulling all the wiring and gears out, I was like OH NO, that's where things would have went bad for me. Looks great, thanks for doing it. 👍🏻

same I had a rc car when I was little and it stopped working so I took it apart to fix it and I did successfully but I lost one important part and it never worked again
What an impressive job on an awesome toy! I never had a toy that cool. If they made a modern plastic one it would be fun to put a camera on it and make it remote control.
I can't believe this thing is as old as my grandpa
Wow! this old toy is very intricate for its time. kudos on all the patients for restoring such a relic.
it is not a toy it is a piece of advanced engineering!!!
That was amazing. I thought it was incrediable that the instructions on the bottom was still in great shape.
I can sympathize with those rusty gears, faded paint and all. For I too was made in 1956.
This is one of the best blaster i´ve seen so far
This reminds me of my Marx Big Shot. I still have it. I'm going to have to check and see why it doesn't work. Great Job restoring that old cannon!
Excellent restoration. If you are doing something this comes again can you show a bit more detail in the motor/gears assembly thanks. I like the pains you take to line up all the parts once disassembled. Nice work!

Well good job. Love seeing stuff brought back to original condition in this throw away society. Brilliant.
I got this the same Christmas I received “Forbidden Planet” kit with spacecraft, Robbie the Robot and all the men and guns. I ended up using my atomic cannon to shoot at the spacemen, along with my sisters.
Wow! One of the most complex and beautiful restorations. Got to wonder at the value now!!
Great job! Thank you for sharing this.
Very cool project, well done
That cog repair using epoxy resin was downright inspired.

This one actually looks kind of complicated. A lot of parts, missing parts, broken parts. Definitely a more challenging restoration than most. And with the age of the toy, you run the risk of not being able to get replacement parts for it.
Awesome!!!
Great 👍 job!
King of the hill!!!! 🤟🏻
Great job. Hello from Brazil
Excellent job. Congratulation 👍👍👍
Good restoration. Only the gear was not very carefully restored. As an option, it was possible to cast a new one. Or this one can be modified, sanded and painted. P. s. Attention to detail , striving for the ideal.
I want it as a gift 😎🤟👏
Wow totally cool
FANTASTIC
Loved the added aircraft flypast sfx. I'm certain it's a merlin engine.. guessing it's a late war Spitfire, or P51 Mustang?
Ok let's get this straight !! You did a AWESOME Job in the motorized Canon ! You take down Hank Hill and Friends ! ( Bout time lol. ) And You get to hear a P-51 with a Merlin V-12 Fly overhead too ?????? WOW Life is AWESOME !!!! Keep up the Awesome Work !!
