And it's in all ranks not just crystal, some don't belong in gold/plats either.

This is where people are getting frustrated who currently can't hit Crystal, I feel like their experience is artificial and inflated as well.

I hate getting actual shitters in gold who still don’t know how the game is played so I’m stuck at gold because i laddered late and I’m stuck with the actual scrapings from the bottom of the barrel

There needs to be a demotion mechanic, even if its a gentle one, or even if the floor is only one rank outside of max rank. As much as it would hurt my feelings to lose crystal rank, I know it would be better for everyone if there is a rank where it really is just the people who consistently play at a high level and have a solid understanding of mechanics and strategies. There's too many people in crystal that try to 1v4 on the crystal at the halfway mark.

I totally agree, I originally thought only Crystal was going to have demote, and currently I think that would be more than fair to do now.

I agree things need to be changed. It is not fun to try hard and grind for top 100. There is major skill gap between 0 rank crystal players/diamond players and the players who are 2k+ Rating aiming to be on the leaderboard. Deranking Crystal players is the best solution for sure. I do agree Gold Rank is not a bad rank. I know in other games if I get gold I'm generally happy and feel like an average or slightly above average player its a nice rank. But, I feel like because they started season 1 like this, I don't believe it would be met with positivity if it was suddenly hard to get crystal. So I don't wish for Diamond or Platinum to derank. Just better matchmaking based on LP tiers and Crystal deranking should be a decent start for S2 or S3

You're probably right, since they started so strongly and really sold Crystal for everyone, going back to before may be too harsh. Definitely just relieving the pressure from Crystal will help the next season.

I know this is 8 months later but I want to share some opinions as well. Degrading ranks I think would honestly more than likely kill any incentive period for people to go into the upper ranks. Instead of getting people to crystal (which takes varying amounts of time for people) and stopping there out of fear of dropping from crystal to diamond, they would instead stop at gold and say "yeah im good" because pvp in this game is already so small and so unwarranted with the plethora of other content that people just wouldnt care aside from the already small established community. I started in S4 and got to platinum and the queues were dead, now in S5 I got to crystal and stopped myself when I was about to drop but would have absolutely kept going if there was no drop. I am fine with deranking from crystal because it is *kinda* where the best players are supposed to be but honestly I would say take deranking away completely. FFXIV is and never will be a pvp focused game, and we all know that if you want a good pvp experience you will have to make your own in discords or some adjacent method. CC is not meant to be LoL ranking and quite frankly I have a feeling many people would quit or just care even less if it did adopt this. Just my thoughts personally. Oh and better rewards but not exclusive to pvp only would also help. Specifically fix platinum-crystal tier. Dont give top 100 anymore stuff its too finite.

Crystal Conflict is just a bad PVP mod, this is an MMO, where you can't talk in a PVP mode... and you can't play in party, and people are surprised no one is doing Crystal.... and the rewards are just horrendous and non-existend, wolf mark is just a waste of time , you can't buy anything with it that will help you in any way, and you can't even make gil doing PVP, because there is nothing to buy to sell. I play this game for 10years, and sometimes the way Square does things is just idiotic, they think people will play PVP when there are no rewards, and there is nothing you can buy with wolf mark that is worth it, they can put things for relic in the shop to buy with wolf mark, or materials that are worth something, dyes and a lot more, but no, series is a good start , but it's nowhere near good enoght to make people play it more than it is worth. PVP is fun because you can play and talk with people, even if they are toxic shits, but making people unable to communicate is just a sure way of transforming 80%of the people bad in pvp... limiting communication is the biggest reason there are a lot of bad PVP-ers in ranked, and most have no idea if they do something wrong.

Yep. Lemme put on my Jordan Peterson hat: If the ranking is not demonstrative of a player's ability to climb the FFXIV Lobster Hierarchy, all their dopamine will be leeched over time and with no obtainable distinctly PVP and competence based rewards, well buddy, that's when you gotta go rescue Emet-Selch from the belly of a wale.
