This is a new build Tamiya hotshot that was on a shelf and all the plastic arms cracked. It was never run Its a RERE not a original from 1986 #crash #radiocontrol #fail

That's a major bummer, Joe. Sorry to see that happened to ya man. I've heard of guys over-tightening the long hinge-pin screws that hold the upper and lower a-arms and cracking them, but I've never seen anything like this. This is just beyond crazy. I drive my Hotshot like I stole it, with a 10T brushless motor in it, and it holds up fine, so it's very unusual to see one breaking up like this. Snap a few pics and send them to Tamiya, see what they say?

I replaced all the arms for cheap. Tamiya will laugh at me asking about why my 17-year-old arms that broke. Plus, i don't think i can find the receipt lol. Hope all is well

Oh no! Those plastics crack easily. At least you can get the parts. The screw pins cause issues, that's why I heat them up before I put them in. The front arms always seem to break either at the screw pins or that counter sunk screw for the steering knuckle. I just had the same issue with my BigWig, but that is from 1986.

Well that's a bummer mate! It's very common for Tamiya ABS plastics to go brittle over time, and in reality it's still quite an old car even though it hasn't been run. Ive had many of my vintage cars from the eighties crack just by sitting on the shelf (all raised off the ground with no weight on the tyres or suspension)..... especially in areas where screws or pins are mounted. I feel ya pain man, it's bloody annoying. I've had hubs and arms shatter on my 959 and Celica GRB shelf queen's that have never been run, also Clod buster hubs, Midnight pumpkin chassis and gearbox housing, and multiple components on my OG monster beetle, but once again, these are all originals from the eighties. Interestingly, you never see this on Kyoshos, even the old ones.... the quality/elasticities of their plastics is vastly superior. Hope you get her up and running anyway mate, the Hot Shots a great car! 👍 👍 👍

Back in 2010, I saw a guy in the pits working on a TT01, the Alum Pinion SNAPPED into 2 pieces. Like it went into a log splitter. Cracked in half, from tightening onto the motor from the force of the grub screw. If I didn't see it in person, I wouldn't have believed it. So think of a 20T pinion, split into 2 half moon 10T halves.

It happens that plastic parts break, especially when they are old. But so many on a new vehicle. I hope, even if it is annoying, that it is a temporary production shortage and that you will have a lot of fun with the vehicle again with the spare parts.

The only issue I've had was with rubber components. I bought two brand new Buggy Champ kits and the rubber switch cover disintegrated into dust on both kits before I'd even finished building the kits! Tried contacting Tamiya to get replacements but they weren't interested.

@@JoevsRc At the time it was hard to get spare parts and the only ones I could find were on ebay for crazy prices so I didn't replace them. As a long-time Tamiya fan and a believer that their quality was always good, I was a little surprised and disappointed though. I thought they would just send me replacements but they just never responded to my requests.

Humpty Dumpty Brother Joe 🎉RCF4L 😯👉It's Been My Experience that Tamiya Plastics have always been more of a Toy Grade material 👎 and for the cost of the kit's I kinda shy away from them...same issues in the past and no customer support on my end...They blamed me for their inferior plastic's... I now only have one TT02 left in my collection and rarely even look at it, gave it to my Grandson and when it breaks I'll pull it apart and put the useable pieces in the storage bin LOL😆so now I've Chosen to go with RTR's and Update/Upgrade as Needed 🦾🦿🦿🦾 ✌🤠👍HFLPRCing =Having Fun Laughing Playing and RCing 👍😎👍AOAH =Association of Addicted Hobbiest 🙏SSPH =Stay Safe and Play Healthy My Friend and Have a Great Weekend 🎉🏆🎉

I only have experience with a TT02 kit from 2022. The plastic motor mount however, did crack when I was putting the motor in and ended up super gluing together. My fault for over-tightening it, but it shattered later on when I crashed into a cone so that was kinda my fault too. 😁Shown in one of the bench talk videos.

Common issue in all those spots with cracking unfortunately. Sorry to see my dude😢. It’s one of the reasons why I used suspension shafts on my hotshot 2 over screw pins. Here are some options: You can boil the plastics, coat the arms with E6000 epoxy, just warm up the tube in some hot water before applying, or there’s always the aluminum arms route. Hope you get it sorted out mate

@@JoevsRc I go over them in my HotShot 2 Blockhead motors custom build part 1 video at around 13:00 minutes. You have to piece them together with some spacers as nobody makes a direct kit for the hotshot 2. RcAidong kit, a couple kyosho shafts and some spacers is what you’ll need 👍

I have two Rerelease HotShots and havent have any problems but its widely known that the Tamiya plastic is a bit brittle on the older rereleases. Personally i have fallen out of love with Tamiya at the moment ,they are a little bit to toyish compared with Kyosho and other more premium brand rc. Just my personal opinion though. Hope you get your HotShot sorted because they are a blast to run.

They don't look faded so I guess not. I had an issue with the driveshafts in my Boomerang being a fraction too long which caused all the bearings to start overheating but solved it by upgrading everything.
