The clown hair has grown on me tbh, it's goofy for sure but at least he's visually different from everyone else. I mean there's only so much you can do to differentiate yourself from other fighters when you're only wearing gloves and trunks in the ring. He's super fun to watch fight so there's that even if you don't like how he looks. But I agree his personality is relative to stale white bread. He's not cut out for the Conor persona, he should just stick to doing what he does best, getting those highlight finishes.

Islam Makhachev is disliked by many because he beats fan favourite fighters, but there is also those who sadly hate him due to his background.

I genuinely don't understand why Jon Jones still has a significant fanbase. I get that he's a great fighter, but, surprisingly, so many people are willing to overlook the fact that Jones is a terrible person. As far as O'Malley goes, he's a divisive figure. In terms of his fighting ability and performances in the Octagon, O'Malley is great, but he's terrible on the mic and he's already calling out Topuria when he only has one title defense.

I think it's because a lot of fighters are not good shit talkers but they're kinda forced to. I think after their first press conference, strickland and dricus dialed it back because they knew they got too personal and actually do respect each other.

Illia is kinda loved by a lot of people. Granted is Spain and Georgia, so english speaking audience might not dig his vibe that much, but he has a good personality and even after talking mad shit he told that he would fight Max or the Winner between Ortega and Rodriguez

While i do admit that his grappling isnt quite there and if he were to fight say tom aspinall or curtis blaydes they would finish him pretty easily on the ground, i think him vs gane or pavlovich would be absolute wars and something i would definitely look forward to if he does move up.

He has basically no wrestling and no ground game and his takedown defence is the same as Jan (70% and who got taken down twice starting from R3 and controlled for half the fight) It's stylistically a horror matchup but his fans still want to talk as if he's running through both of them

I think the narrative of people not liking Islam because of his background has changed, he is a pretty funny guy who knows how good he is.

Alex's thing is he gives no ammo to hate. He comes from a humble background. He's an extremely skilled striker. He has knockout power. He doesn't talk much and just leans into the moyai emoji meme. He's literally the perfect dude for casual fans who want to feel entertained and for hardcore fans who like to see technical fights. Although, his fans kinda ride his meat a lil too much

I would say, in terms of the overall fan base, the most hated champion is Sean O’Malley. To the point where he was getting consistently booed while Marlon Vera was getting cheered… in the United States.

My personal rankings: Jones - No explanation needed. Topuria - Calls out tons of people outside his division but shuts down everyone in FW after beating a deterred Volk. Edwards - Talks a big game about who he *shouldn't* be fighting. Covington fight sucked. Pantoja - Very skilled fighter but don't have much to say on his persona. Makhachev - Honestly tired of fighters talking about Palestine in the ring, so it kinda ruins it for me, but he seems like a very decent person. DDP - Love how much pride he has in his country and seeing South Africans reacting to him. Very controversial win, but I had him barely winning. Still want to see more from him. O'Malley - Used to have a hate b*ner for him but have come to like him. Very entertaining fighter and can be funny sometimes. Pereira - Has an intriguing aura and prominence to him that I cannot put into words. Always fun to watch. Has an amazing story of overcoming addiction and an epic arc with Adesanya.

Dude how is Pantoja not ranked right next to Jon Jones.. I get that people feel how you do about O'malley (if you're talking about the UFC press conferences and media BS) but if u look at this dudes Vlogs & videos of him outside the UFC media he's actually a pretty interesting dude. His fighting is some of my favorite of all time. I know the press conferences aren't exciting but WHO CARES! The UFC needs to improve how they do their media, stop the brain dead questions, stop not letting the fighters interact with each other.. It's so stale, I don't give a F*ck about "how is the press conference?" What matters is exciting performances and the drive to keep evolving. The whole McGregor thing was a flash in the pan. Notice even the guys who are quote "good at press conferences" barely make an impact anymore because things are just different. In all honesty if you watch O'malley's content that follows him in his life you'll see that he's never been a individual who tries and fight others. He's more of a dork who just will happen to be able to whoop most people's ass but he mostly just trolls the haters because he knows how mad they get over stupid stuff and it's crazy people can't tell he's being sarcastic in a dry dark humor kinda way. This is not true, while it may have started like this many people actually became Alex fans. His entrance song has like half a million views. If people just hated Izzy they would've just moved on, but watch his entrance vs Jiri and you'll see half the people in there scream with him when he does the arrow thing. Alex memes are also great.

Not gonna lie, islam is a cool dude. The reason i couldn't be a big fan of his, as you mentioned is the face he beat charles and volk. But the bigger reason is the dagestani fanbase. Lot of figuters have annoying fanbases, (i think pereriras and strickland fans are getting annoying these days), but dagestani fans are no different either.

Jon is getting a lot of hate right now because he's holding up the heavyweight division and doesn't seem to want to fight Aspinall, who is #1 contender right now. However if he comes back and dominates Stipe and/or Aspinall loses to Gane, I think he will be celebrated again. Everyone bandwagons/switches their opinions so easily nowadays 🐑 If Aspinall beats Blaydes and Gane and Jon retires without fighting him he'll prob still be remembered as one of, if not, the best to ever do it but will be known for ducking Tom hard

No, his greatness is just part of the jealousy. The real reason people hate Jon Jones is because he is a GENUINE evil person. Repeated criminal history, absolute douchbag behaviour on the DUI's, preaches religion and proceeds to live like a gta maniac. There are like 10 Psychopathic traits and he's showing 9 of them, ofc any reasonable human would deslike that. But that combined with his greatness, and people will hate him more. Personally I think Jon Jones is the greatest fighter ever just a bit above GSP and DJ. But he is also easily my most disliked fighter of all time.

@@stachpema452 that was a spoken line, but the point is Jon Jones is showing a bunch of psychopathic traits. He tries to show the public a innocent and humble image by preaching religion, saying how he loves jesus and all. But behind the scenes, well not even behind the scenes, whenever the camera ain't rolling he is a complete different person. He almost lives the complete opposite from what he says. His interactions with DC and Evans. Also a big highlight are his DUI's with the police, the way he loses his emotion and control is very typical of sociopaths/psychopaths. Whenever He talks, he always talks very self-centered and whenever he talks "good and humble" it often just feels very off, like he isn't usually like that. He is not necessarily good at lying, but he does it very naturally with no remorse or showing red flags. Take his PEDS use as a example. This isn't the biggest giveaway since it's coming from Jones himself. But he once said that he thinks he "is a bad person that's trying to be good". As I just said I can't take anything 100% that comes from Jones, but if that is the case, this line makes a lot of sense. A normal neuro typical human isn't naturally "bad" and wants to do good things, as a matter of fact I would almost argue that it's the opposite. If you've ever met a psychopath up close IRL you will know exactly everything about this topic... I suspect Jones is either a Sociopath, or a very low functioning psychopath. He is not like Strickland, or even Ferguson where trauma kind of made them a bit crazy/overemotional, Jones puts up a mask.
