@@judithmonixx2245 I don't know why yall say Red Velvet are on equal with Mamamoo? 3 out of 4 Mamamoo members are main vocal material and in Red Velvet only WENDY is an amazing vocalist. Seulgi is technically weaker than Wheein and Hwasa, Joy is also weaker than Wheein and Hwasa and Irene and Yeri are literally weaker than Moonbyul who is a MAIN RAPPER so imo from which angle they are on same level with Mamamoo in vocals? it's true that Mamamoo is the BEST 3rd gen girl group in terms of vocals and in Red Velvet only Wendy is the best 3rd gen vocalist.

I'm just so proud of both Wendy and Wheein, because there was a time when ppl didn't mention them when they talked about good vocalists, and for the longest time i always only saw Yuju and Solar being talked about and they were undermined, but finally ppl with actual vocal pedagody knowledge have been coming out and giving us the facts and now people recognize them as the queens they are. The top 1 and 2 most developed vocalists of the 3rd and 4th gen. And i know many people prefer Wheein's tone which is completely fine, but Wendy's clear tone and her ability to switch it up according to the song she sings just blows me away. She's very versatile so she just takes the cake for me.

What you said is true that now people actually gaining knowledge about good vocals and as solar is my bias, yuju is now been shown some recognition for her vocal. Before people used to talk about wendy and solar mainly, but now wheein and yuju are been recognised as well.

@@deepakbohora4972 oh I'm sorry, when i read my comment again it kinda sounds like I'm saying Solar and Yuju don't deserve the recognition, when that's definitely not the case. I actually didn't see much talk about Wendy, except among Reveluvs, and though she was recognized as one of the best, when i watched the ranking videos, they always placed her behind Yuju and Solar just b/c she wasn't belting 24/7 like they did. ppl were always like "Yuju has the best highnotes" "Solar is just the best b/c of her power belting" and this is also why Wheein was overlooked, cause she wasn't a power belter like Solar. But I'm saying that ppl with knowledge on vocal pedagody know that belting isn't everything, and there are much more other factors to consider in singing, and even then Wendy and Wheein's technique when belting is better. So yes, they are now being recognized as top 1 and 2. And unfortunately Yuju has actually regressed. All those years of constantly hitting G5s and F5s did a number on her vocal chords and now she can't even support C5, and her resonance is not present, so she's not on par with any of them at the moment, she's now around Jihyo's level, but in her prime she was above MMM members and just below Wendy. She's been making more stylistic choices recently, but she is improving her lower register, and hopefully in the future she will heal and improve her mixed and regain her resonance

yess omg, i was just talking about this with some people but its like her voice in a weird but good way harmonize with itself. There is a term for it that we used in choir but i forgot. whenever people have a voice like that you can actually feel 2 emotion passing through when they sing. Wheein is definitely one of them

Altho Wendy is clearly technically the best vocalist of the 3rd gen I have always preferred Wheein vocal tone. That girl has something unique that I can’t describe. I never get emotional when I listen to music but Wheein can move me without me knowing it.

I’ve listened to rose, wendy and wheein’s solo album and I just prefer wheein’s tone and style. I don’t know how to explain it, but wheein has a healing voice which brings out emotions. I support and like all of them since they’re all great.

Singing plainly is easy but the with perfect runs, upper registry and falsetto(this is what vocal techniques are), wheein is definitely better than Wendy.. In addition, Wheein knows how to control her breathing, since her vocals are for breathy she is still doing better job than Wendy.. Wendy tends to get out of breath when she's singing.. That's how you evaluate a vocal technique

I love Wheein's voice. It's one of my favorite kpop voices. Mamamoo Vocal Queens

Wendy's voice is very relaxing and soft while you can mostly feel pain when listening Wheein. Both are very soulful voices. I just love Wheeinnie's vocal tone more. But that could be because I listen her more than Wendy though. No suprise those 2 are the top. I wish we get a duet.

Bestie, i really don’t think she has the best techniques… Best is when you are special and no one could copy your vocal techniques.. Wendy’s techniques are plain to be honest, WheeIn has more colour into her voice and her vocal techniques such as her runs are one of the best in the industry which no ones can copy.. I bet Wendy can’t copy those techniques of her

@@johnyap1508 Techniques are just techniques, the creator of the video wasn’t trying to say that WheeIn is a worser vocalist as compared to Wendy, he’s just stating that Wendy has better technique. Technique isn’t something that is plain or not, it’s just technique. Technique is meant to help in better projections, better support, etc. Technique is learnt, anyone can learn it, and of course, anyone can copy it. It’s like mathematics - with enough practice, anyone can learn to properly apply the rules of math and be able to solve more complicated math problems. Similarly, vocal technique just helps the vocalist better apply, in order to enhance the voice, i.e. better control, better support and better breathing. vocal technique and vocal colour are separate. I personally prefer WheeIn’s vocal colour, but as a trained vocalist myself, I will have to admit that Wendy does have just slightly better vocal technique. As for vocal WheeIn’s vocal runs, anyone with good technique can sing the same way, in fact, anyone with enough practice can imitate the notes produced, what cannot be copied by most is vocal colour. But vocal actors are very good at mimicking vocal colour. A good example of this is Chuther (check her out on youtube, she’s quite impressive), she has mimicked Mamamoo’s voices if you’d like to check that out. But yes, I hope you get what I’m trying to explain:)

@@andrea-kg6pg I mean it's true mamamoo is a group composed of ABSOLUTE vocal queens, but it wouldn't be fair to the others if you add the other members of MMM because this is a 1 on 1 on 1 on 1 vocal analysis, obviously you have to choose one in Mamamoo's three vocalists. But I absolutely agree that all Solar, Hwasa, and Wheein are fit to being main vocalists, heck maybe even Moonbyul can be a main vocal if she was showcased and trained to sing more cause she has a great tone.

@@Neo-od9uw Byul said once that her vocal coach thought that she was going the be the Main Vocalist when they were still trainees, if it wasn’t for RBW changing her position she would be capable to show more, but at least Byul is now confident with her singing. Mamamoo is really a group formed only by Main Vocalist

All are good on their own tone or style but......... Wheein and Wendy hands down. But I listen to Wheein more. Her voice is like the gates of heaven. I love how she uses her voice like an instrument. High low silky/honey smooth. I have earganisms listening to her. I can listen to her all day. I literally had Butterfly on replay on the way home from work this morning. Just beautiful.

That clip of Wheein with her runs in Queendom is absolutely magical

In my opinion, Wheein has the healthiest lower register in kpop her control is amazing .Checkout butterfly her vocally charge bside her low notes is just chefs kiss. She also has the best falsetto in the world the girl is insane for effortlessly transitioning from her real voice to head voice followed by her gorgeous falsetto and literally ended it with that agile C6 high note. they're allowed to share their opinions, the people who commented about the agility, gave their explanation and most of them are content creators who also have knowledge on vocal pedagody and know more about Wendy than mr. no other fan. Also, on the Mamamoo video he made, Wheein topped every category except head voice, in which he placed Hwasa on top, but ppl in the comments were sharing their opinions that they think Wheein should top that category as well, so what's wrong with that?

Agreeee Butterfly is such a beautiful song and especially listening to the live version she did without G.Soul I cried on how well she did his part not even exaggerating I was literally tearing up listening that "Now I'll forget you " line OMG her voice holds so much feels. Also the Falsetto part I would've given it too Wheein too it's more smoother and softer also when she does it while harmonising with members it just blends so perfectly. Her voice is what plays at heaven's gates ❤😔

Wendy and Wheein are both absolutely amazing vocalists but there is just something about Wheein in particular. Her voice is just so mature but at the same time so angelic and smooth. Wheein's tone, her versatility and her overall stability make her one of the best vocalists in Korea not only kpop. Wendy's voice brought me to kpop. After I heard her singing Jessie j's "Who you are", I was instantly sold. Before I realized it, my tears were falling. The way she sings bring comfort for me.

We know Wendy's the best girl group vocalist in 3rd generation of kpop. She all rounded, she definitely knows her instrument and how to utilize it. The way she projects a note, belt, head voice, is all very technical.

My ranking: Wheein, Wheein, WHEEIN, WHEEIN 1.WHEEIN ALWAYS WHEEIN! QUEEN WHEEIN!!!!!!

I already knew who would win. But it was good to hear more from Jihyo, as I'm not a Twice enthuasist and I don't know much from them

@@santialmeida3148 Jihyo is average compared to Wendy. Especially when you are used to the agility of Wendy's voice, Jihyo's messy runs don't cut it e.g the 'oh yeah' at 11:31. I'm saying this as a Little Mix fan, who dabbles in kpop.

Yeah... I still go crazy about Wheeins voice. That girl has soul. Its just amazing how her voice sets the tone in the room. Its just so pleasant.

I knew Wendy was going to win because this discussion has been had a billion times already. I just ultimately prefer Wheein because she's a better performer and her voice is better utilized in the songs she's given in group activities. Wendy is just okay in K-Pop and I think she would do better in several other genres. There are a lot of idols who would really shine in other genres or even just doing a different concept. Like, I enjoyed IZONE's Nako in the group but she would do really well in Babymetal, as Suzuka's voice has changed a bit since reaching adulthood and the group could use a new infusion of vocal sweetness.

I agree for the most parts but I definitely disagree the agility aspect, Wendy should be the first if u heard more of their bsides in RV you’ll know. And I’m abit sad you didn’t add clips from her solo live performances, esp the one she performed why can’t you just love me with live band. But overall good content, keep it up!

@@laramiaizz like all people in the world she has bad days, but it doesnt mean that she is like that all the time, and she was in the beggining of her career and was very nervous as she said sometime ago. I can see that u dont know her music and song, cause if you knew you wouldn't say that, you can check another great analysys of her in the site kpopvocalanalysis.net, they are teachers and guarantee her runs and riffs skills, like they said, she is not perfect and have some pitch issues time to time, but she is one of the most agile idols in industry

Wheein is known for being versatile Whenever vocal tone and technique is talked about, she can never be missed Her range is insane really!!

I opened this video already knowing that wendy and wheein would be at the top, they are amazing in the vocal aspect, nobody can beat them

Like Solar mentioned before Wheein has a healing voice and Solar said even though her own voice is appreciated and called powerful she has always adored Wheein's voice saying it makes the listener feel emotions more.

Wheein can do whatever she wants with her voice and it sounds amazing. She's so unique.

Jihyo's run at 2:32 during the 'oh yeah' was messy af. For 10 years training, and 5 years after debut, I wouldn't expect such a sloppy run. It seems like JYP's vocal training is lacking, and idols should continue with vocal lessons even after debut. Her tone is unique which is why lots of us see potential in her, but after all this time idk

@@justaboy343 no, it's a lack of continued vocal lessons after debut. The 'pre debut' training period isn't enough, especially for JYP singers. Perhaps Twice being overworked, JYP put post- debut vocal lessons on the back-burner

personally, jihyo and wheein are two of my favorite kpop vocalists. although i definitely can admit that wendy is more technically skilled than jihyo, as well as (arguably) wheein, and wendy's vocals are absolutely immaculate like that girl is seriously on another level. but there's just something about wheein and jihyo's vocals that just draws me in, their tones are so pleasing to me lmao

Wendy's lower notes are better and warmer than Jihyo's despite Jihyo having the 'richer' tone. Also, Jihyo's rich tone goes away when she does high notes and it sounds a bit shrill. Wheein's rich tone is consistent.

Because usually the standout point about Jihyo's vocie is her tone, but it's not that consistent or strong, especially in early cute Twice songs. However, Wheein who has a darker/richer tone also, is consistent with her tone. And Wendy who known for having a brighter or even boring tone can still get a richer and nicer tone than Jihyo with her low notes. She can change her tone from bright to dark much better than Jihyo can adapt her darker tone to bright songs - she ends up sounding shrill and losing her uniqueness, because her tone is not that strong to begin with

Wendy's voice is the definition of perfection to me. I love her.

I believe Wheein is an angel in her past life.

It's a crime that blackpink is that popular whilst having the less talent.

Wheein just have the most beautiful voice I've ever heard among international and korean singers

So basically: 1 wendy-no surprise she's an almost perfect vocalist minus the runs/agility but still above avarge, most powerful and versatile 2-powerful but stylistically softer then wendy, great control with runs/agility (the only thing Wendy doesn't excel at) 3-not as powerful but still a very full voice can fall under the slightly above average tier 4-rosè very unique and stylistic, she's a tonal singer, technic falls under the average tier for a main vocalist but she's still very good

Wendy’s agility is still pretty decent, I’d honestly say that they are slightly better than Wheein’s but thats up to discussion. Wendy only has some issues when she’s in her mix, Wheein has some issues with the jaw but i’d say even w/ that she’s still amazing

Great video! Wendy and Jihyo have my whole heart. Wendy can project emotions with her voice really well and I love Jihyo's voice color. It would be cool if you could make one with 2nd gen vocalists (like Eunji from Apink, Hyolyn from sistar, Luna from f(x) and Taeyeon from SNSD) someday

OMG Jihyo's solo singing clips are rare and from few years ago I hope we can see her shine through her vocals more..I really want Jihyo to sing Jazz I thing this the best for her in my opinion...

Check out her Melody project from a year ago, her voice brought tears to my eyes. (Don't get it confused with her performance project from a few weeks ago though)

This comment might seem insensitive to others but I think Wheehin and Wendy are in different Vocal levels/abilities (I don't know the correct term) compared to Jihyo and Rose. All of the artists mentioned can definitely sing but in a way I feel it was a bit unfair to compare Jihyo and Rose to the others when they are clearly not as developed in singing. Some may say I'm being rude but it's the obvious truth and most viewers knew Wheehin or Wendy were most likely to come out on top anyway before watching the video. Despite that I loved the way it wasn't based on your opinion but on what you came to after analysing different aspects of their voice and abilities and I would love if you done this for others artists (not just Kpop) in the future.

I know that it will be always Wendy and Wheein in the First and Second ranking. I really like Wendy’s technicality but I cannot discredit that Wheein is a close second- damn her vocal color. The friendship between these two groups are superb. 🥰

I believe the video maker was basing on live performances, not studio polished recordings. It's pretty easy to tell that vocal agility is not her forte (well, none of these singers are).

(from what I heard) Wheein is the one with best technique in Mamamoo, even if Solar always get the spotlight, she gives her 200% and tends to push a lot of times... So Wheein has the healthiest technique

Most of the comments keep saying that Wendy is technically better because of her technique but y’all don’t know how emotional and soulful her voice is. She shows great emotion and damn I’ve cried listening to her sing . It’s not just her technique ability that makes her so great it’s the power in her sound and expression combined that make her THE best.

exactly! man, wendy's voice is like that soulful singer who punch you with their voices right in your face! it's excites the audiences! at least that's what im getting from Huff n Puff by rv! 😅 'Knock Knock Baby!!' not to mention her ballad songs from Like Water album! one of the examples, The Road, it's just SO GOOD. the fact that she's able to deliver with storytelling-like, although, she's not the one who wrote the lyrics, says alot about her soulful singing!
