I’m not tryna be that guy but … no. Blacklist is a literal super action movie version of Sam Fisher. The genuine fans of Tom Clancy and this series would rather not mention that it one even though it is an honorable mention of a game… if you’re into magical quick kills and horrible level design, none of the real aspects that were what made Chaos Theory there at all. Ya know, some of us enjoyed the sense of being a regular human being that Sam Fisher was , that JUST so happened to be REALLY good at tactical espionage and combat. The older games let you feel that . Not dissin ya for what you like because don’t get me wrong it is a good game. But that is not a Splinter Cell Game. Blacklist is damn near Metal Gear Solid 6

In my opinion Blacklist is a perfect example of a video game "sequel" where it improve both gameplay and graphics while keeping its core identity as video game stealth genre in a literal sense.

That was my first Splinter Cell. Loved the cinematography like seeing text and button prompts overlay the levels. Also loved the interrogating sections.

Agreed. The gameplay innovations at the time feel major even today SC1 and PT are great games but Chaos Theory gives you so much more freedom to approach things. SC1 and PT provided very good focused stealth and rewarded careful maneuvers but Chaos Theory had all of that plus a much heavier emphasis on personalizing your approach.

This. Chaos theory is arguably the peak of the franchise. If we had gotten more Chaos theory esque experiences expanding on the lighting and sound systems and staying slow paced with that nitty gritty style... those games would have been incredible. CT is the definitive SplinterCell experience. I actually really enjoyed conviction and blacklist but those were complete spinoffs, in my opinion.

I replayed CT recently and it still holds up today which is insane tbh. The bank mission is my favorite. Super ahead of its time considering the nonlinear nature of the mission

@Nikita_name Xbox version is the reason why this game is nothing nowadays. After Chaos Theory they couldn't get away with a bad quality stealth game, so many poor decisions made this game fall into oblivion. PS2 version tho is the direct path from CT, you can dislike the story, sure, but if you dislike the game, then you dislike CT (Which is way too questionable, dislike the peak of the franchise?), cause both CT and DA PS2 are virtually the same in game mechanics

Depends on which version you play. I think the mechanics of being a double agent were cool, but overall I felt it was a little poorly executed. It had a lot of potential that I feel it just didn't live up to. Unless you played the original Xbox version that played a lot more like Chaos Theory.

The ps2/og xbox verdin is a better version than the ps3 and 360 games. Ps3 cut o bunch of shit out compared to the better 360 counterpart for the next gen consoles. There's no rooftop in the jba for the ps3 lol and a few other things too. So just play the ps2/og xbox and the xbox 360 versions.

The Xbox version of Double Agent deserves its own mention. It’s a phenomenal game and the successor in style to Chaos Theory, made by the same studio. Many people don’t seem to realize it’s a from-the-ground-up different game than the Xbox 360 version, with different levels and voice acting and everything!

Feel like V1* (360) has better levels imo. PS2 vers feels like a watered down chaos theory, but the fact that they took a lot of inspiration from that game also wasn’t a bad idea either. First two levels were amazing though.

I replayed it the other day as a seasoned vet. Got two-tapped by the very first pistol toting goon in the first level because I forgot he comes to search the safehouse. And I don't want it any other way. Realism established.

Maybe it wasn't this bad on release, but nearly all of (if not literally all of) its difficulty factors stem from bad game design (i.e. aim so terrible that melee range headshots are unreliable and melee combat is useless). Bad map optimization (getting hopelessly stuck on certain areas, not due to confusion, but due to literally being stuck), or other unforseeable gamebteaking bugs (i.e. zipline automatically drops fisher too soon, causing him to die every time he uses the mandatory zipline to progress the stage).

For me, it’s Chaos Theory, Conviction and Blacklist. Chaos Theory is loved by me because of the mechanics and overall gameplay, Conviction had the best story of em all and was stylish af not gonna lie, and Blacklist is something between Chaos Theory and Conviction.

Conviction, while not a traditional splinter cell game is one of my favourites in the franchise. It perfectly showed the audience exactly what Michael Ironside saw in Sam back in the original splinter cell, when he talks about him being like a weapon that has been used to many times, so much that it's basically worn down to a hair trigger and can near enough operate on its own. The gameplay was fit to the story and It was absolutely meant to be a final farewell to Sam and give way for newer stories, but ubisoft dug him back up for blacklist.

The Double Agent (original version) is literally "low budget" Chaos Theory, so it's pretty good and i really enjoyed this game

I liked Double Agent, the old gen version at least. The newer one felt off to me after playing the older gen so much. There is however, a cool animation when you try to grab Emile in the new gen version where he fights back at the end of the game

Maaan conviction was so cool, I loved the coop story and deniable ops. And even the main story was worth it, people will complain because you don’t get a fancy suit in main story but the story it self was cool and the gameplay and controls are nice. Also like how the coop and main campaign fall in to place. And of course the addition of parkour.

​@@ZandercodeI don't think Blacklist is very good even putting aside the lack of Ironside. Chaos Theory let you use the environment to your advantage in creative ways to avoid detection. Blacklist has little to no environmental interactivity. It's just line of sight stealth with action elements. It's laughably shallow as a stealth game.

Chaos Theory is so most Nostalgic to me. it came at a really good time in life and it displayed the game series’s abilities and depths the best.

With the exception of Essentials, I personally like all the main Splinter Cell games. I hope we get another installment with Michael Ironside back as Sam, one more round to end the series on a high note.

Not Conviction, because it left the original fan bases almost alienated and that was already after Double Agent left a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths. Conviction was more an Action Game than Stealth. Blacklist was heading back in the right direction though

@@kevinredd3354 I'm replaying the whole series from the start and after I get done with Chaos Theory (though I'm having a hard time with the weapon select and weapon equip button being swapped for absolutely no reason and there being only 3 save slots period), I'm playing Essentials, then Double Agent. I heard certain versions of DA weren't that bad. Personally, the only one that sucked so far was Pandora Tomorrow. I couldn't wait to be done with that game.

Blacklist is amazing

DA was actually UNDERrated. X360 DA was actually pretty fun tbh, but the real hidden gem is not the DA on the ps2, but the DA on the ORIGINAL Xbox. The graphics on the OG Xbox for SC DA were MUCH better than the PS2. If you have an Xbox Series X you can play it in 4K with the built in emulator + the resolution boost and it looks amazing actually.

Glad to see one of my favorite franchises of all time getting the love it deserves. It's been over 10 years since the last time we had a Splinter Cell game. While that's not a bad thing considering how Ubisoft went downhill during the 2010s I think now is the time to try to recapture those old feelings with modern day engines and graphics. People say stealth games are too slow to hit with the modern audience that likes things as fast as possible, but I say slow is a part of the charm. Stealth games are a puzzle you need to solve, how to take your time getting from point A to B wen you're outnumbered and easy to kill. Best example: Hitman. Even today, we are able to make enjoyable Hitman games that do not feel dated yet still capture the essence of the old ones.

Black list was my very first shooter when I started playing games so it holds that spot for me

I love them all but Chaos Theory and Conviction were my favorites. The brutal interrogations of Conviction were top notch

Recently bought chaos theory in the series X along with blacklist…CT will always be my fav from ps2 but i cant wait to play blacklist n Conviction for the first time 😭😭🙌🏾

The only bad thing about Blacklist is Micheal Ironside is not in it. Also, while I agree with people in the last gen Double Agent, the issue is it is non-canon
