I would say cars from 1998 to 2008 were the best looking, although I think there were some great looking cars already earlier in the 90s as well.

They looked great but I wouldn't say perfectly proportioned. I remember watching F1 those years wishing the FIA never made them more narrow as of the 98 season. The width of the 95 cars, which I think remained for 96 and 97, was even better. Imagine the 2000-2004 cars (or really the 98-2008 cars) but with the width of 95-97 cars. That would have been incredible. The late 80's - early 90s cars looked incredible too, I think it was 89-92 or something like that.

@@Spinelli__ that's a very valid point but I remember thinking the exact opposite at the time, I thought the pre 98 cars were too bulky and wide, but I definitely see where you're coming from. I think 98-2005 is when they got the proportions absolutely perfect, after that they became too narrow and long. Especially after 2009

@@ukrje it was never proven that the data was actually used. they had only obtained the documents after the Monaco Grand Prix, so technically they could've only use it to make upgrades to the car. and the mp4-23s development was closely monitored by the FIA so because of this.

The Renault and BAR from 2044 deserve a much higher spot in my opinion. The reason they didn't get results was having to deal with the F2004

I honestly think that '04 BAR Honda should be a lot higher up the list. If the F2004 hadn't been so freakishly fast then it could've won a world championship. Button was also on fire that year.

If Rubens had two more (or one REALLY badly timed) DNF that season, he could have had his 2nd place standing yoinked. Button also finished on the podium in 66% of the races he finished. 2 out of 3 finishes, podium. It'd be interesting to see how many of the 70+ seasons Button would have won with a 66% podium rate.

What is even more impressive about this era is how fast they could have been with today's tires. A number of simulations show that they could just as fast as today's cars on the same track.

@@pedrobernardi9409 totally wrong. 2004 cars stil hold somd records and they would be faster as todays cars on the same tyres(slicks). 2004 cars were much lighter, had a lower CoG than todays cars and some other advantages, like much better agility. Also aero was not that bad as some seem to think. So - the 2004 cars are definetely faster than 2020 or 2021 cars on the same tyres, without a doubt. Slicks are 4-6 seconds faster than grooved tyres. If you take a look at the 2004 statistics you can see easily that if you take i Into account the difference of bigger slick tyres - the 2004 cars would beat 2020/2021 cars easily and they still are the fastest F1 cars ever built.

If you put today's tire on the 2004 Ferrari, it would rip the tires to shreds if driven the way it is supposed to be driven in about 5 laps. Remember, back then F1 was what F1 should be, Cars being diven flat out. Today the sport is a tire endurance series since 2011.

This has got to be one of the best f1 channels I love how you go in depth into all the cars it’s so interesting.

One thing, in 2003 the protest on Michelen tires wasn't about the compounds. The tires were illegal in construction. Michelens were squishing, and the sidewalls were rolling over, and being used as tread of the tires. The contact patch was therefore bigger than what was allowed.

The Arrows A23 might not be the fastest car, but my God is beautiful! That orange and black work so good together.

I have stumbled upon a gold mine of f1 videos

I remember going to the Donington GP Museum before it closed in late November 2018 and seeing the Jaguar R1, R2, R3 and R3 Pininfarina concept. Gorgeous cars, I just wish they were faster than they looked.

Cool video. Have to say, I don't agree with a lot on this list though: - The last Arrows actually had a lot of potential and was coming on strong until they had to pull out. That car's got to be way, way higher than 105 - I think the 2003 Jordan was way worse and a dog of a car than the 2005. The 2003 Jordan was almost certainly their worst ever car - I probably would have put the Honda RA107 a touch worse (but in the same general area as you) - I think both 2000 and 2001 Prosts maybe a little worse - The BAR 005 should be better - The 2002 Renault should have been ranked quite a bit higher than the 2001 - The 2000 and 2001 Jordans should be better. - The 2002 Sauber should be worse than the 2001 - The 2004 Sauber should be wayyy better - Renault R27 should be a tiny bit worse After that, I got tired and skipped to the top 10, lol - I think one can argue the 2005 and 2006 Renaults being ranked higher than the Ferrari F2001 and F2003-GA. The F2001 dominated some days but other days was really behind lots of cars (probably due to Michelin superiority that day/weekend). The F2001 and F2003-GA - probably because of tyres - weren't dominant cars like people tend to think. They had dominant days/weekends but other times were not great (probably due to Michelin superiority that day/weekend). It was only 2002 and 2004 that Ferrari truly had overall dominant cars. If we're talking about the car as a whole - which means tyres too - I think the F2001 and possibly the F2003-GA should maybe even be lower than the Brawn car. 2001 and 2003 seasons could have been very different for Ferrari if it wasn't for McLaren and Williams and even their drivers (Montoya VS Ralf) all taking points off each other VS Ferrari. I think one can argue the 2005 and 2006 Renaults being ranked higher than the F2001 and F2003-GA - Maybe the 2000 Mac should have been a little higher? It and the Ferrari in 2000 traded blows on which car was the best. I still think overall the Mac was faster but had worse reliability - it should have been closer to the F2000 in the rankings - I'd have to maybe say the F2008 was better than the F2007. The F2008 was slightly shorter wheelbase (F2007 was a little too long sometimes) and managed the tyre heat-up / temp issues (too cool, or too long/difficult to fully heat up) better than the F2007 but this is a really tough one to decide on. I often wonder, if it wasn't for the tyres, could the 2001, 2003, and 2005 Ferraris have been dominant like the 2002 and 2004? There were one or two years with Trulli and Ralf in the Toyota doing great. I think it was 2005 and 2006. I skipped to the top 10 so didn't see but I hope those cars were ranked fairly high Thanks for the awesome videos, information, and channel!

That 2005 Jordan was WOEFUL. Such a shame how the team fell off. I agree with the video classifying the 2003 car as better simply by virtue of the win 🤷🏻‍♂️

Finally someone made a ranking of which F1 car was the best not who is the best or which current team is the best because I never seen someone making rankings for the F1 cars as a video.

Great video, I think the vjm02 was the worst car in 09, the car maybe could score points, not to take away from the team or the drivers but the car made little downforce but was a slippery package so around monza and spa it was one of the fastest cars. But everywhere else it was just as bad as the Toro rosso.

I love this channel ♡ However the Prost AP04 should have statistically been ranked much lower

While I understand why the 2004 Ferrari was ahead of the 2002 car, in my view, based on the results, in my view, I would put them the other way round. It's one thing to finish every race in a season, another thing entirely to score points in every race, but to finish on the podium every race, that's insane. The only one to come close to that was Max Verstappen in 2023, where he only finished off the podium once all year (in Singapore with a fifth place finish).

If really think you've ranked the Arrows A23 wrong. I would have put that car in 91st place to be honest, it was better and quicker than Spyker, Super Aguri, Minardi etc. Also, the chassi lived on until the end of 2006 and was still, even if it ran at the back in the hands of Minardi and Super Aguri, somewhat competivite

I was surprised by that ranking. The car was fairly competitive in 2002 and I have no doubt Frentzen (and maybe even Bernoldi) would have got more points out of it at other races had they done a whole season. Heck, I’d go as far as to say it was a lot better than their 2001 entry.

So many beauties such as Arrows A22, Prost AP04, Minardi M02, Minardi PS01, and Ferrari F1-2000!

Do I have more important things to do with my life? Yes Am I procrastinating? Yes Am I going to watch someone go in-depht and rank all 2000's F1 cars tho? *Fuck yeah* :)

Good video. The 2000s were a great decade for F1 and the 2000 Mclaren MP4-15 is my favourite car from that era. I have to disagree on the placement of a few cars though

I always found the 2000 Ferrari to be a gorgeous car, and was happy to see Michael and co. manage to elevate the team to championship status. The dominant '04 one too, beautiful. Such a shame that the '07 McLaren has a tainted legacy, what a year that was!

I know this video is a little old already for youtube standards but i HAVE to ask. Am I being gaslit by the F1 game, media in general and past historic data? I remember that when the F1-2000 was launched, it was always referred to as the F2000 (which goes in line with the F2001 and so on). Later on, when the F1 game reintroduced the car as F1-2000, I started looking everywhere and it always said F1-2000. Am I a little mad or did Ferrari retcon the name of the car over time? Also, as always, amazing video! Love the extra shots with the lovely sounds of the V10s!

In my opinion, the sexiest cars in F1 were built through 2008. In 09, the cars got ugly, and in 14 they started getting far too big. This year's cars are more easy on the eyes, but are land yachts compared to everything before.

Funny How Steve Bracks then Premier poses in front of a F1 Minardi car like he likes top speed cars and proud to have the grand prix to generate revenue and then he was the one to introduce Victoria to become the Nanny state with his over the top road rules and drop of speed limits for revenue raising speed cameras.

Imagine the BAR 007 was as good a Chassis as the 006 with its insane 965hp engine. Button would have been a title contender. And no the MP4/20 didn't have the most powerful engine on the Grid. Honda and Toyota had more power.

Prost might've been a dud of a car but the colour makes it an all time favorite of mine. Close second is the special burgundy Ferrari they raced for an anniversary.

It is of my opinion that the Renault R27 was every bit as good as the R26 and could've won races and fought for the championship but it was let down by the drivers. Fisichella and Kovaleinen were two drivers who were pretty quick and solid but nowhere near good enough to consistently challenge for wins. Had Alonso stayed at renault for 2007, he probably would've still been in a close title battle

You know f1 man. Like seriously you know your shit, most people would blindly rank the 2008 McLaren over the 2007 one because it won the title but that 2007 was so so good. My favorite f1 car ever, shame Alonso lost the title. Anyways mate, awesome video as per usual, keep it up mate!

Those tiny, narrow cars were the best F1 cars in my opinion. Fastest ever racecars in F1.

Nice video, although there are some inaccuracies whuch is umderstandable with 100+ cars to comment at, with the highlight in Renault' 2008 where you mixed Fuji and Singapore atories. In Fuji it was a fair result by chance and Singapore was the race they cheated.

Am I the only one to find it an irony of fate, that a guy named Speed didn't have the speed to be successful in F1?

Disagree with the placement of the sauber c20 honestly, seems far too low for what was the best car to come out of Hinwil without any major manufacturer backing. I'd swap it with the c23 in the order of the list.

The Arrows from 2002 is far too low on this list in my opinion.
