According to Liam, Omnilander took place during Christmas solely because it was around Christmas time when he wrote the fight. I found that rather amusing.

I feel like for Asta, Liam didn’t bother with research, and just read a few wikis and found both current AND outdated videos talking about Black Clover. As a Black Clover nut myself, that episode HURTS me in so many ways, and my preferred character was the winner! Goes to show that it doesn’t matter if you’re preferred character won if the episode is mid at best.

As both My Hero and Black Clover fan, you can't imagine how that episode pissed me off. What should've been All Might vs Might Guy successor, a friendly sparring match between 2 boys got butchered. Not only both series is in final arc (they both still got new power up after the episode) but Asta is completely mischaracterized and Deku got brutal death Deku barely uses any smash moves, does not combine multiple quirks while Asta only uses one named move and does not uses his strongest move in final clash Asta doesn't scream for no reason, he has inferiority complex. He grew up with no power, got discriminated while everybody have power. Hence he scream to remind himself to not give up. 2:51:30 About Ki sensing. Everybody has magic sensing except Asta, but he is one of 2 characters that can use Ki sensing to compensate for lack of magic sensing. It activate 24/7, so that's why most people really hate the death scene when he supposed to know Deku is dead. Heck they show panel where asta dodge light when he's sleeping His fighting style is reacting to the battle with ki sensing, find opening and deal one devastating blow yet they reduced him to dumb brute

To be fair for Deku and his quirks, the ability to use multiple quirks is not something that can be visibly done on such a smaller interaction such as this. When this was released, the most combination we got was OFA, Black whip, and fa gin. And gear shift was only recently revealed and we did not get much of that. And even then, we did not really get quirk combinations until this episode released. And while Deku does have a lot of different smashes, Detroit is his most well known and his final smash is his strongest.

Magneto vs Tetsuo getting that high a score is BASED

In Deku vs Asta, you mentioned how Liebe's exclusion from most of the fight was a shame. While I agree with this, since it would have helped Asta's characterization with friendly banter between the two, I think it is more of a shame when you know that Deku also has something similar. For those unfamiliar with the latter parts of mha, One For All, Deku's quirk which was passed down from All Might to him, went to multiple people before All Might and stores their different powers, which is how Deku has access to all of these powers. However, it also carries the vestiges of those previous users, basically their spirits, who can communicate with Deku in his mind. At first, it was only while he was unconscious, such as asleep or mind controlled, but after some time, they are now able to communicate with him at all times to give advice on their quirks and how to use them. So, basically, we could have had a fight were both combatants would have been guided by their mentors/friends, creating more character dynamics, and better representing both fighters. As you said, the presence of the guides wouldn't have affected the outcome, since neither party can intervene physically, only advice the fighters. I get that this would have required more voice actors and thus more resources, but it was seriously a missed opportunity.

I like too how the James bond shot also conveys that while wick may be a perfect shot it doesn't really matter because bond can put 3 bullets in him before wick can pull the trigger

-I love LOVE all the Magneto vs Tetsuo love in this ranking! -I think Wiz was just referring to Boomstick being really drunk during the Sun analysis, but it came off as weird structuring since the wife part was last. -Yes I am still peeved that that's my highest viewed video despite being zero effort, thanks for asking! -It took me until now to realize the time stop effects you do is an actual power you have. -I'm not sure who this racconbrova person is are why I should subscribe to them, but raccoonbrova is pretty based if you ask me, lol -The whole breakdown of the death of the author with Ian Flynn was super refreshing to see. -Sauron vs Lich King love, we love to see it! It probably could've been my favorite episode too if I was more into high fantasy. -Even though I put Deku vs Asta at the lowest rank in my review, sometimes I still wonder if I was too easy on it. -Glad to see 3 of my favorites make it into the supreme tier! -Oh ho ho ho ho, we are not ready for next time! -Here's my interpretation of the portal scene. Aquaman just got done being molly-wopped by some random sea sponge with the IQ of a door mat, and all of his attacks were rendered useless. Not to mention the source of his power was completely drained, so he's not only physically weak, he's going through a lot mentally, and likely suffering from a lack of hydration. And then a portal opens up, and while it would've been nice seeing them do stuff (probably a budget thing), all it took was him seeing other Aqua men for a second to tell that they were way cooler than him, likely not even needing water to live unlike him. While this is likely something that's never been explored in his original series, Saitama had a similar moment of unique character development that managed to still feel in line with his themes. In this story, Aquaman tried to be an awesome hero but failed at every turn, and this had his will tested like never before in a very unique situation. Have I ever been a real hero? That's what makes Spongebob's speech so impactful to me, because it's likely the first time Aquaman has ever been able to relate to anyone in this way before of not feeling adequate to everyone's standards. I also don't interpret the trident stab as a dick move, that was just him setting the stage for the final phase of the fight and needed to be quick for time constraints. And his change in attitude from trying to be cool taking down a villain to having a friendly sparring match with a kindred spirit is complimented by the fact that he actually does get to do some cool stuff here and manages to hang in there for a bit, even getting off some big brained strategies. Also goes without saying, but major major disagree on the "I'm ready" line delivery, I still stand by what I said in my video of it being my favorite line read in all of Death Battle, and I'll die on that hill, lol.

Trunks vs Silver is easily my favorite. Hedge of Tomorrow is such a banger! Great video.

We fucking LOVE Magneto vs Tetsuo in this house. Best episode of the season with almost no contest.

Does anyone else think that his use and timing of God Shattering Star was absolutely perfect? Because that was GODLIKE! I loved that as an intro to Sauron Vs Lich King!!

As a big My Hero fan, i think Deku's portrayal is, while not as poor as Asta, it's still a really bad portrayal, he wouldn't spam detroit smash, and blackwhip doesnt look like that. I think he should have hit him with a smash, then jumped into the air and slammed him onto the ground and hit him around before Asta cuts blackwhip (which i dont even think has happened before lol)

Forgive the wall of text The Heracles vs Sun Wukong fight is deeply special to me I have been an avid fanatic of mythology ever since i was 6. I have since learned of the classics like Greek, Egyptian & Norse but have of course long expanded from there to Indigenous, Japanese & even fictional mythology as redundant as that sounds. When i first saw those names on the Next Time, my brain froze. I honestly couldnt comprehend what i saw for a few seconds. I cheer. God, i cheered ♡♡ was a strange dream come true for me. I knew my preferred had little chance but to see mythology actually be done got me so beyond words excited But more than that, this was the first episode my husband and i watched together. I had shown him clips and such in the past but we never fully sat down to watch one of these since DB is more my thing which i dont mind ♡ He thought i was upset that Heracles lost but i was just so overjoyed that it was even a thing. Yes, it has its flaws. Several honesty. But it still is a deeply cherished episode for me Whats even better is that this was a catalyst for him & versus match ups. We now have a dream match up we share together: Power Armor (Fallout) vs Elemental Armor (BattleTech) since he and i have a love for them (me the former & him the latter) and getting the other interested in our beloved series Its a fight that will never happen sadly. Especially BattleTech. But it was a cherished moment for me, that fight ♡ and while id have it at like 75/100, its an episode none others can ever touch ♡ That alone i will never forget

I think, regarding not wanting to spoil Demon Slayer stuff that wasn't vs related, I think the reason they avoided any story spoilers was because of people complaining about Attack on Titan spoilers in Mikasa's rundown. Even though they had put up a spoiler warning at the start of Mikasa's rundown but people decided to just ignore that and complain.

Also thank you for putting into words about my dislike about Asta's portrayal as a big Fan of Black Clover and Asta. There are actually a lot of biblical connections to be made with Apocalypse, yes he was born in Egypt, but he also has Four Horsemen, just like the four horsemen from the Bible, and his adoptive father shares his name with the god Ba'al Zebul, which eventually became known as the demon Beelzebub (which then became another name for Satan, somehow). Heck, Apocalypse's wife is named Genesis, ironically enough. Also, and I don't know if you know this, but the Bible ends with the apocalypse, in the Book of Revelation. In fact, the word apocalypse is just ancient Greek for revelation, we only associate it with the end of the world because of the Bible.

I think my only major issue with cosmology scaling is it's kinda unfun when actually debating feats and stuff? Like, it's really fun to try and scale shit like popeye because it's fun to me to try and scale shit like "spinach destryoed a star" or "gave the sun a black eye", but then somebody brings up how he defeated a 7th dimensional being so anybody he fights who isnt 7 or more dimensional is a stomp. It just kinda loses the spirit of it all to me ig?

Small correction on Jinx: Until just recently, Arcane was a separate timeline from main continuity, and even now Riot is still trying to fix things so Arcane can make sense in the core universe. So at the time of airing, Jinx was a composite, but now wouldn't be. Kinda. Giving her video game items and Arcane feats definitely doesn't line up, but I get why they did it.

Like you, I loved that DB tried taking risks for season 9, making more bittersweet endings and bringing in a boatload of new franchises. While it didn't' always work for me, there were still a lot of episodes that I've grown to love such as Omni-Man vs Homelander, Magneto vs Tetsuo, Trunks vs Silver, and Sauron vs Lich King, and even episodes that I have a lot of respect for such as Hercules vs Sun Wukong. If the last quarter had the same consistency as it did for most of the rest of the season, I would have considered this better than season 6, but as it stands, season 9 is still a season that I really love and understand the hype around. I am very excited for your video on season 10, as it has dethroned season 8 as my favorite season of the show, and I can't wait to hear your opinion on certain episodes that came out of it

2:55:26 Okay so- about that line with Death Battle disrespecting other franchise characters not through them losing, but through their pitch in the analysis, I really do agree with you there. There have been many examples I’ve seen and even more from other reviewers who know characters I don’t, of times where death battle shits against a character for the hell of it without understanding why that character matters to people. But in defense of critiquing the Ben 10 episode: My issue isn’t the fact that Ben lost, in characterization and something of a theme, it’s that they treated him like he was his regressive 10 yr old self with future series feats stapled to him and treated Hal as if he’s just a wacky space adventure comics character in DC. Pulling unpopular bits and even lesser known powers to try and be clever and just not coming across as well as I wish it did. And in terms of wacky space adventure comics, they didn’t even bring up Green Lantern Willworld, I just read up on that and they could have wed it to current stuff by Grant Morrison or Geoff Johns, that would have been perfect. There were so MANY things they could have talked about, even just in similarities, from Ben 10 Ultimate Alien’s finale or the Multiversal Time Bomb to Green Lantern’s family issues from Geoff Johns secret origins or Vlthoom the First Lantern and really show how Hal is THE GOAT of all Green Lanterns put together. But instead….well we know what happened, mixed bag reaction. I think Liam is an incredible writer when he has time and motivation to tackle characters and subjects he has passion in, showcasing the best of both characters and trying to come out fair. But much like other writers on Death Battle, it really just cuts down to him just not taking a second draft (metaphorically speaking) and going over the specifics of whether or not this characterization fits or what a fandom would expect from it, or even their favorite moments fed back to them in the analysis to hype their character up and/or watch them fall. It goes from “oh let’s ironically playfully jab a character in perspective viewing the medium he’s in” straight to- “I think this character is annoying, or not of interest to me, or beneath me. Hopefully others agree.” (not that Liam is saying that, it’s just writer’s tunnel vision. Happens to the best of us). And in the case of Deku Vs Asta, that clearly was characterized worse for Asta than B10VGL or most any other Death Battle. And that hurts, I know the feeling from other matchups like Hulk, Captain Marvel, Batgirl, etc. (Also Strongest Alive SLAPS! Best song of the season for me)

Yeah, for sure. I just mainly used Ben vs Hal as my visual for that part because it's usually the first episode people think of when people say "Death Battle is biased" or whatever. I did forget about Ben's characterization issues, admittedly, but I don't always see those nearly as often.

@@JonathanFrostathan I imagine that’s a thing that can kill Death Battle for a lot of people, not misrepresenting characters in general, but when they are misrepresenting personal characters. You said it yourself, if you were a Black Clover fan you would be far more pissed (which I’m not sure how that’s possible given the rant, but fair point) I thought Hulk was mischaracterized in his fight against Doomsday (later fixing that with Broly), but that didn’t make me go against the show for that picking and choosing of what they do want to represent fairly. Maybe a Twitter post or two to get ignored but nothing substantial. I was still watching and supporting the show. Jesus I just realized since Ben Singer wrote about it before the 3rd rematch, Goku Vs Superman 1 & 2 might be viewed as mischaracterization by some for using the parody voice cast. Ben said himself he hates the second one. For painting Goku as insane and Superman as “too goodie goodie to be not relatable”. I don’t really agree with that (at all) but it really makes me think about the perception an audience will take based on whether the intent or the execution is taken into consideration. Or even just people caring about the outcome (which is important) vs caring about the narrative framing, fight choreography and portrayal of the characters (arguably more important). Or even just if things contradict against other episodes. But still, yeah I can understand the effort it takes writing and producing an episode I just wonder if it takes a form of growth on the writer’s side of learning and working through the process on a project to win over an audience within the perspective of how a fan base expects their character to be represented and how new comers get introduced to grow both franchises and DB itself. It’s a balancing act. (Side bar: Hal’s characterization was actually almost perfect, and I love the parallels drawn between the two of them. It’s why I want a rematch so bad)

Not great. Tried to kill me on many occasions, but I at least put him down a peg and he hasn't bothered me since.

Having never seen anything Warcraft related, and having minimal knowledge of LotR, Lich v Sauron has my favorite analysis... period. Had me invested the whole way through, and the fight being peak makes it the easiest number 1 of a season ever

Season 9 and season 8 can go back forth on which I prefer on any given day, and today I think Season 9 has beat it out. Great video as always!

Yep, this season is honestly better than I gave credit for... for the most part. While yes, S8 has some merit for being both a season of legacy MUs only and to celebrate DB's 10th anniversary, and yes, maybe this season has fallen off by the final stretch on 3 out of 4 episodes, but at the same time, S9 is not afraid of being bold. With the bittersweet ends for certain fights being the one aspect that makes it stand out the most from previous seasons. But yeah, S9 could be well said as being the best modern DB season so far... if it wasn't for the fact we got one more season to go, and rightfully so, has become THE best modern DB season. But we'll get there when we get there. Also that use of God Shattering Star for the Sauron vs Lich King intro transition *chef's kiss*

To be fair, that's Injustice 2, and Death Battle (and me, by extension) was referring to the comics. You are right, though.

Trunks VS Silver is my favourite episode of the season, helped by one thing. The Yu-Gi-Oh! references.

I know this vid is gonna be 3 hours long and I need to sleep soon, so whilst I can’t watch this live I look forward to seeing it later.

Oh yeah--somerhing else about the fight for Deku vs Asta that I hate, why is Izuku so pale!? He looks like a drained body for no reason.

If I’m remembering correctly, Gogeta VS Vegito had an extended waiting period to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the original Goku VS Superman. With December 21 being the date GVS was planned to be released before it was delayed.

It's a hard knock life for us.

I will say, yea, this is a really good season, though to be fair, all the seasons moving forward are just amazing. I will rapid fire the first few but because oh boy, I might have a lot to say about some of the later episodes. So Jinx vs Harley, really fun opener, Scarlet Witch vs Zatanna, also a really fun episode, Tanjiro vs you, I think the ending part was a bit awkward but I really like the somber ending and how it respects the characters, Thor vs Vegeta, I think the episode is really hype, especially thanks to the music track. Now we move on to Omni-Man vs Homelander. I will admit, when I first heard about the episode, I can't help but feel a but disappointed but once the episode came out, it really shut me up, I really like this episode. Yea, looking back, that one gag was kind of awkward but other then that, I absolutely love this episode. Magneto vs Tetsuo is one match up I never really thought about until the episode was announced so I was more curious about it more then anything and oh boy, what an episode. Considering that Magneto is one of my favorite Marvel characters and my favorite X-Men characters, I am so glad he was done so much justice here and Tetsuo was also really well handled. I think it was because of this episode that made me and my brother watched the anime movie and check out the manga so that I say is a huge success. Now I will admit that the episode's fight for the first half was not the most memorable but that ending was just drop dead amazing and I also love how it does tell a story from beginning to end of Magneto seeing Tetsuo as a punk kid, only to feel remorse and sympathy for Tetsuo in the end and ends his suffering. Absolutely brilliant. Don't have much to say about Hercules vs Sun Wukong really but I find it a very entertaining episode, but with Boba Fett vs John Yautja, ehhh, my thoughts on it is kind of weird. I like the idea but I feel like it was kind of pulled off in a very underwhelming way. I thought this was my least favorite episode of the season at first looking back but we'll get to that later. I just think that how they executed the Predator was kind of weird since it isn't a specific Yautja but a some what composite or just general is of "The Predator" which I probably be fine but I feel like in responds, wouldn't make more sense to also do the same for the Mandalorians? I get that they probably want to use an character that people know like Boba Fett but I wished they actually picked an actual character when it comes to "The Predator" I don't know, I just think this episode was just meh. Now, even though I do prefer John Wick vs Jason Bourne, I was not opposed to seeing James Bond vs John Wick, especially if it is a fun episode and I will say, it does succeed on that. There is some jank here and there but I really like how the episode turned out. Now Black Adam vs Apocalypse is also another weird one for me where I don't really remember much of the episode besides the ending, which was brutal, don't get me wrong, but I also wondered about that whole camera lends gag. I guess it is ment to sell the brutality of the stomp that Apocalypse did but I am not sure why they kept it, even in the conclusion. Aw well, I think it was ok. Silver vs Trunks... oh boy, I have a lot to say. so, I will admit, I am also not a big fan of the majority of Sonic vs Dragon Ball match ups so I wasn't really looking forward to this episode (even if they are using Archie or Heroes versions of characters), especially since I wasn't looking forward to the toxic responds that both fandoms will have towards the episodes, no matter who wins, but then again, I guess you can say that with a lot of match ups. So the episode came out and I will say, this episode blew my mind. What a fantastic episode. I don't know what to really say that hasn't been said, this episode is just that good, though yes, I still had to deal with a lot of salty Dragon Ball fans, claiming that "Death Battle hates Dragon Ball! (BTW, not exaggerating, someone literally said that, which I am disappointed that I didn't respond with "He's not a rat, he's a hedgehog" to reference Sonic and the Secret Rings) but that would of happened regardless, especially if it was a Dragon Ball episode. Now, yes, I also heard about Ian Flynn's responds to the whole thing which I feel like people blew way too much out of proportion and even act really rude to him because he "doesn't understand the characters" which is more of a conversion of it's own. But yea, this episode is awesome. Spongebob vs Super Friends Aquaman I really did enjoyed when I first saw it though I can admit that it does have some flews but it doesn't really affect my enjoyment of the episode for the most part. I think it really is a fun though yea, I think Super Friends as a whole was a bit disrespected. Jason vs Michael I think is overhated. I don't think it is an underrated classic necessary but I think they did a good job with the idea of these two horror slashers duking it out. I do like the idea of having some bystanders in the mix as well since in these kinds of movies, there is usually a group of characters that you get attached to before most of them get brutally murdered but I do think the execution was kind of off though it doesn't ruin the episode for me. Maybe I am being nice to it because I always wanted a horror themed Death Battle episode with movie horror characters but I think they did a decent job. Sauron vs Lich King. No sugarcoating it, this is the best episode of the season. I love this episode. I analysis really sells the pure malic and evil that Sauron is and shows why he is a big deal and the Lich King's analysis is also really damn good, and keep in mind, I know nothing about Warcraft so this was actually cool to see. Now the fight, oh boy the fight. The music, the animation, the characters, dialogue, the ending, absolute CHILLS! Just love this episode. Deku vs Asta... no sugarcoating it, this is the worst episode of the season... As someone that watched both the anime adaptations of MHA and black Clover, yea, this ain't it chef. There are some cool moments but the disrespect Asta received in this episode and the death that makes him look like an utter asshole, yea, this really has a lot going against it. I wished they went with the original ending because I can at least say that in spite of the rest of the episode, it would of ended in a respectable and interesting note but no, it can't have that either. Well, I won't say it is the worst Death Battle, it does leave a bad taste in my mouth... Oh yea, Gogeta vs Vegito.... meh.... ok, I won't just leave it like that (though originally I was) but yea, I kind of have no hype for this episode. I guess it is well animated but it kind of falls flat to me. Not a bad episode but not really a good one either.

Diabolical me is My all time favorite track in death battle

Season 9 honestly holds a special place in my heart. While Season 8 got me back to watch Death Battle Again, Season 9 is where I started to make my own ranking of each episode and give a strong opinion about it, rather than rely on community opinion. And it also gave me one of my Favorite Episodes in the Show. Surprisingly, Spongebob VS Aquaman is not only my favorite episode of the Season, but is tied for my Second favorite alongside with Scooby Doo VS Courage and Goku VS Superman 3. It was at a time where I made a whole Essay about Spongebob's character *(Because he is one of my favorite characters ever)* and had me thinking how they would handle him in Death Battle. And Spongebob VS Aquaman really did deliver everything I could of asked for to be my favorite of the Season. I am glad that they do give some credit to Aquaman as well. I know his characterization is divisive to the Death Battle Community, but I honestly enjoyed him. I don't really mind his mental breakdown being off putting. In fact, his mental breakdown is where he is at his most vulnerable. He's weak without water, he stands no chance against someone who he once underminded, and notices how the other Aquamen out match him in everyway. I actually don't mind Aquaman's character assassination. Mainly because he is developing out of this insecurity and naive view point. From what I've seen, Character Development requires some Assassination. Not always, but enough to show development. This development with Aquaman, Alongside with Spongebob giving him sympathy and encouragement really speak to me. And its why the ending hits so hard. *(At least to me again. Man I really am self centering am I ._.)* After Aquaman giving his all against someone who encouraged him, he goes out with a new respect to his new Super Friend with Spongebob being with him. And if the fight isn't about Aquaman developing, The rest of the fight still makes me happy :). From the jokes, to the glorious spectical, to the funny analysis and conclusion, Spognebob VS Aquaman did alot for me to call my favorite of the Season. Sorry I just really wanted to express how much I love the episode. But back to Season 9, it was an incredible Season. It was very experimental with the matchups and made some very strong character coverage. Some of my favorites are Heracles VS Sun Wukong, Black Adam VS Apocolypse, Omni Man VS Homelander, and Magneto VS Tetsuo. While I prefer Season 8 sightly, Season 9 really delievered some of the best we have ever gotten.

Cmon man it was a 99/100, only one other episode (so far) has gotten that ranking in the past, and both were because of one minor nitpick

So one neat thing I noticed in Dekasta I don't know if it was intentional this way, or if I am just trying to find something positive with how they did Asta, but when Deku throws a building at Asta, Asta cutsit in half once then loops around to destroy the whole thing and stop its momentum so it didn't hit the audience. Again, probably just trying to find something positive for Asta's portrayal but I like to think that's what he did now. Recognizing Deku's building toss had too much momentum to not be a threat to Innocents watching.

Warning: Stupid long comment below, read at own leisure. Stacking multiple bragging rights from both watching all the other DB videos AND the community posts, but this season actually held a lot of weight for me too. After initially leaving the DB community due to growing disinterest around Season 5/6 and an irritation with powerscaling (or rather powerscalers) as a whole, I dipped my toes back into DB again in Season 9. It’d take Guts Vs. Dimitri until I’d get back into the show and community properly, but it wouldn’t have been on my mind if not for this season. A lot to say, much of which you say yourself, so I’m just gonna have my own small notes for each episode. Didn’t even notice Jinx and Harley’s voices sounding so similar but now I can’t unhear it. Ignoring some of the janky parts of the start of the fight, I really like how they handled the cosmic scale of Scarlet Witch and Zatanna, even if I have not strong feelings for either character. As a big Jojo’s fan myself and a middling Demon Slayer fan, the refusal to go deeper into Tanjiro for fear of spoilers was both understandable and hilarious to me, since I feel like I get bombarded by spoilers about it every day on my KZread recommendations. I FIGHT FOR FURY, FIGHT FOR PRIIIIIIIDE! I think that Omni-Man Vs. Homelander is the proper way to treat a stomp fight and shows that they can be handled in an entertaining way when you make it about the characters more than just treating them like walking talking blocks of statistics (Wow who could have guessed). I do get why people dislike stomp fights, after all, where’s the tension if you know who will win? Hopefully some people started to understand how it can be done better, and Death Battle has certainly learned how to do it judging from later episodes. Magneto is such a fascinating character both personality and ability wise, and to see him given a more sympathetic (in that he was *being* sympathetic) is always a nice touch for a character. Not much to say on the fight, I kinda knew who’d win. I would’ve gone with Heracles Vs. Rostam, the greatest hero from Persian legends, but that’s my own personal thing. As for the last bit about Pikachu Vs. God, I know it’s a joke bu…look, I am a Christian, but I know the Internet well enough that the subject of religion and faith are a bit spicy (Just look at everything surrounding Hazbin Hotel right now), so Death battle had *better* be careful if they ever tackle something like that. (I wanted to go on a bit about God beating Goku, but I’ll leave it for now.) (Boba Vs. John Predator) First, HOLY CRAP I WANT MANDO VS. COURIER NOW! Thank you for introducing that MU to me. Won’t even lie, I fell asleep watching this episode the first time through. I’m not even joking. It was that unspectacular to me. (Excalibur Vs. Raiden) You know, I like when the show doesn’t take itself too seriously. Its clear they let themselves have some fun with this one and it’s nice to see. While I still want to see Bond Vs. Borne, I do like the internal story of the fight and makes it feel like these two could really exist in the same world - which is always a bonus in a Death battle, at least for me. Call me crazy, but some part of me wishes they’d tried to do this in live action. I know they’d no doubt have to change the fight around, and I know how hard they are to do, but I really want to see them take another shot at it. Once more with Dwayne “The Black Adam” Johnson Vs. A Poggo Stick, they do a good job selling the idea of these two existing in the same world. As someone who didn’t really know anything about either character, I found their rundowns (especially Apocalypse’s) very interesting. I have a weird soft spot for Silver (the first and so far only Sonic game I ever played was Sonic 06, needless to say I didn’t finish it, but I still liked Silver.) But I never really got the hype for this one. Besides as I stated in the comments to one of your community posts, Hedge of Tomorrow just doesn’t hit me like it does others and I have tried SO HARD to connect with it. Alas, it has not worked. I refute the idea that telekinesis is a boring power. If done right, it is the coolest power possible (Silver being a good example.) As for the ending conversation about the words of authors in Death battle, THANK YOU! I agreed with so much of what you said (As an aspiring writer myself). While the only type of writer whose opinion really matters when it comes to the feats of a character’s abilities are the writers with 100% control over their creations (i.e. book authors and the like), I always get so bugged when people try to pit the words of creators against each other. I get it, some of you guys want to be as accurate to a character as you can be, but on the other hand - you can only take what a creator says with as much authority as they have over the created character (again, like with authors that have 100% control over their stories as opposed to TV or Comic writers that have multiple people’s ideas stewed together). And while I hesitate to touch the can of worms that is Hal Vs. Ben 10 (btw, I’m a fan of both characters, Ben 10 is my childhood and Hal Jordan is my favorite DC Superhero so if anyone can have an objective opinion its me) the vitriol that came about due to the episode was one of the biggest reasons I left and kept away from the community for so long after the fact. And it all loops back to the burning need people on the Internet have to make people agree with them. News flash: People have disagreed with each other over far more important things, like the meaning of life, the existence of God, and if cereal is a soup, for thousands of years and still managed to work together without acting like children (sometimes). In conclusion, JoJoFro had a massively based take, and some people need to grow up and stop harassing DB and others over a hobby. Now back to you regularly scheduled episode comments. Man, I can’t believe Sea Man got ratioed by the Sponglebig. Despacito, play Campfire Song Song. In all seriousness, I always enjoy when Death battle decides to get wackier, and lets the seriousness slide every season. While I agree some people downplay Aquaman, that is *far* from Death Battle’s fault. Never watched any of the Friday the 13th or Halloween films, but I do agree that the pacing of the fight felt very off. The atmosphere is great, but they just couldn’t manage to keep the momentum in a satisfying way. I do hope they tackle characters from horror again as they can have the most interesting abilities, but as their first outing into the genre it was understandably a bit janky. Definitely like the way they animate Jason though; his stiff movements actually play well into his character. ALL HAIL SAURO- *ahem* As a long time admirer of Tolkien’s work (even if I struggle to actually get into it) seeing Sauron in a Death Battle episode rocked my world. I’m more of a C.S. Lewis guy personally, but those guys were best friends for a reason. What’s more he was against one of the few WoW characters I actually knew a good deal about, further getting me invested in the fight. Maybe I’m coping, but I’d bet most people who asked “Who’s Sauron” were memeing (Because the prospect of people not knowing who Sauron is is deeply troubling.) I agree with a lot of what you said, though I’d say I further love the ending of the death battle, because it also builds on Tolkien’s core philosophy about evil, that evil ultimately destroys itself. Shown in the original trilogy where its Gollum who destroys the One Ring by accident as he selfishly tries to take it for himself. In a similar manner, Arthas’ own evil comes back at him as Sauron turns his own power against him. Continued in reply below.

First comment got too long, RIP. Continued here. Oh…oh no. Okay, positives first: Strongest Alive is a certified banger…that’s all I can say folks. Look, I’m not as in the know on the behind the scenes stuff of death battle. Never even knew who Liam was beyond that Death battle cast after the dreaded Ben Lantern debacle, nor did I know who any of the animators outside big names like Devil Artemis were until I started watching your breakdowns of Death Battle. But regardless of whoever’s fault it is for how Deku Vs. Asta went, whether Liam’s or not, it should be said that it was a very odd episode to watch. I couldn’t shake the feeling like Death battle desperately wanted Deku to win the fight but couldn’t manage to convince themselves to actually let it happen. Don’t get me wrong, I am definitely a fan of Black Clover, and I enjoy a “Asta’s a screaming goblin” joke too, since its somewhat accurate. But jokes like that are best done in good faith and humor, which it didn’t feel like during this. Yes, Asta is a classic Type-A personality who likes to brute force his way through problems, but he doesn’t brute force his way through problems unintelligently. Also, you want to know what is even worse about Asta’s Ki sensing not working? He is literally one of *two* characters that use it. His fighting style is practically built upon it since he can’t sense mana like everyone else. I know I’m more cynical about the “Death battle is biased” stuff (as I’m almost certain that they are), and this episode was not beating those allegations. Okay, here at the end, its time for my hot take: As a guy who doesn’t watch or like Dragonball, I actually really enjoyed Gogeta Vs. Vegito. Dragon Dance is lowkey underrated, the choreography was good, and it successfully sold me on the idea of Dragonball’s fight scenes (which I previously only ever saw as boring “me hit you harder” style fights mixed in with random bouts of characters shouting.) Woof, that was a lot. But this was a long video, and one I’ve really been looking forward to. Not near as much as I’m looking forward to Season 10, since that’s the one that got me back into the show, but it was still a solid season, nonetheless. See you in Season 10, JojoFro.

Strangely enough, Black Adam Vs. Apocalypse is really up there for me. The voice acting is *so good,* the track carries, and the death is one of the most brutal I've seen in Death Battle. But still, Fallen Gods *carries*

Your thoughts on Deku vs Asta summarize perfectly why I do not want Light vs Columbo. On top of just finding the matchup boring as sin, Liam has made it abundantly clear on MULTIPLE occasions that he just blatantly favours Columbo, and seems to outright dislike Light to the point of downplaying his intelligence to the point of saying 'The only reason he got so far was because all the authority figures in Death Note are dumb!' [Or that might have been Sam that said that while Liam just agreed with it...] So you just know he's gonna do something like have Light try writing Detective Columbo in the Death Note and be shocked when it doesn't work, or have him make rookie, amateur mistakes when Columbo is grilling him when he would be spending the conversation HEAVILY analyzing literally EVERYTHING Columbo said with internal monologues and carefully choosing his every word.

As a big Black Clover fan, the whole thing with Asta disappointed me I feel like a decent amount of fans were really stupid but mostly because they're sick of the Deku comparisons Asta got in the early days of BC so if anything I imagine the announcement just brought back those bad memories and made everyone very overly agressive As for Asta himself as a massive fan of his character, it just frustrated and angered me, the snarky comments felt not smart or even funny and the respect for the character felt really low, I also hated how he was handled in the fight since if anything I feel like he would have been enjoying himself fighting someone like Deku and be more or less saddened by Deku dying due to his own power. What should have been a fun fight between two fighters who would have probably been inspired by the others determination and strength, turned into a big screaming match between Deku and a what felt like a caricature of Asta

I hold SpongeBob VS Aquaman in a very high reguard - it's the episode that got me into the Death Battle Community. Obviously, I saw other episodes before it, but this was the one that really made me realize how much Death Battle had evolved after the last episode I watched, Mario VS Sonic 2, kinda soured my opinion on the series for various reasons. Ocean Men is still probably my favorite track yo come from Death Battle, and it just put a big smile on my face to hear these characters talk about SpongeBob, tied with Phineas and Ferb for my favorite childhood show. It's probably not the best episode out there, but it's definitely my favorite...until they make Phineas and Ferb VS Wallace and Gromit, that is, that's been the one I wanted since I was literally seven.

I actually feel a similar same way for Blake VS Mikasa. The hype surrounding it got me more into the Death Battle community, and RWBY to an extent. Except, well, we all know how that one turned out. But I love it anyway. So, I'm going to treat Blake VS Mikasa like how a certain crab KZreadr treats Toad Circuit and Figure-8 Circuit.
