I really wish they kept Sonic's "You're too slow!" for his taunt. I used to annoy the heck out of my opponents with it in Brawl, which gave me great pleasure.

Yeah. Basically they cut Sonic's personality entirely after brawl. He used to have those angry and impatient idle animations which fit his character perfectly and referenced his angry idle animations in Sonic CD, but it got changed to just happily waiting, which makes him look more like an innocent character, rather than an angry, impatient and egotistical one

Thing is, idk if Roger Craig Smith ever said that specific line for Sonic (ever since Smash 4, they reused existing RCS lines from other Sonic games) I know this voice actor is kinda divisive when it comes to playing as Sonic, but Smash (usually) tries to update voice actors if they’ve changed between games

A cool detail about Bowser Jr.'s side taunt is that while he swings his hammer around, the Koopalings swing their wands around instead.

I saw Bowser Jr. use his (I think) down taunt in Beefy Smash Doods’ Smash Review to fake out his opponent by tricking them into expecting a Side-B. It’s the rare taunt with some potential competitive use.

While obviously not a "real taunt" I do have to give an honorable mention to Dedede's crouch. We all know it would've been in the top ten if it was an actual taunt.

Bowser's Down Taunt is either him mocking the opponent. Or just representing him sometimes being goofy. I kinda like it. He could also be faking him almost falling over.

@@cheese5551 Yeah. I played Alot of the 3D Games, and 3D World is probably where he is very goofy. Beginning cutscenes he pops out of a clear pipe, the bottom of him is squished. Also he magically pulls Jars out of no where. And Meowser, sure he was serious, but come on how can you take this adorable guy seriously. This guy also had a pretty cool car. I just hope he had Car Insurance on that. Speaking of the Car battles, when you beat him the whole bridge falls and he just floats for a few seconds cartoony style and falls. During his car boss battles if you don't move or try to get close to him, he's like, "Hey Come on let's fight" yeah 3D World has a bit of a cartoony approach which is pretty cool.

Mario Odyssey, at the ending, he tried to get Peach with him over Mario, then Mario and Bowser start arguing and Peach rejects both of them. They both are sad with Mario comforting Bowser, which is pretty hilarious.

Am gonna destroy you" but junior stops him "No Papa, we fight him some other time" Bowser being pushed away: "NO, Let me at him" Off screen for a moment, Bowser: "MARIO THIS AIN'T THE END IM GONNA DESTROY YOU NEXT ADVENTURE" Junior: "Papa, GET AWAY, Geez." Junior approaches Mario: "Ey Mario I got something to say before I go, marioIhateyouanddontlikeyouyouareacringeyheadandyoulookstupidwiththatcatsuitandIhateeverythingaboutyou." "Ok Bye. -Speeds away- Yay yay yay."

“I’m really feeling it!” and “Looking cool Joker!” are my two favorite taunts.

“Let the lesson begin” references Byleth being a teacher and is a much better taunt than you give it credit for. Much better than the “raising weapon over head” moves.

Myhtras down taunt would be way higher if you knew the origin of it. It’s based on a patched out thing in the game where a certain enemy would keep saying “think you can take me” pretty much whenever they were hit with a funny accent. Underrated one

Being a reference to something that many people made fun of Xenoblade 2 for is also kinda funny (Xenoblade fans honesty like clowning on 2 almost as much as non-fans)

I think it'd be a really cool detail if Mario said "Mama mia!" whenever you used his down taunt, it's obviously not something he does in the original Donkey Kong but I think it'd fit his character anyways

This is a great video! With so many taunts to rank, I can't imagine this being easy lol, but I'd say you did it grand with these rankings. Even placements that I don't agree with, like Richter's "It's Time!" and Byleth's "Let the lesson begin/Try me.", I can understand and respect your reasoning for their placements. Little side thing, I like how you put each character on a stage from their series/game. Adds a nice touch!

Just wanted to point out, Dr. Mario's "worst" taunt, where he's grinding his foot into the ground, could be a reference to Mario Power Tennis. Where during Luigi's celebration, Mario congratulates him by stepping on his foot and grinding it in. Not saying that makes the taunt better, or whatnot, but it does at least have a potential origin.

As a mac main i enjoy his side-taunt because it has imo the best doc louis line, its perfect to play before a match when he says "let em have it mac" and its like mac says "your the boss."

Great stuff! I think the power up taunts for Mewtwo, Lucario and Fox are the main ones I’d boost up. I think Olimar’s mini head shake also gains points for being perfectly loopable, and Corrin’s “my path is clear” isn’t that bad (if anything, him having One unique line gives us something to say While mocking him)

Personally I love bowser down. It gives off a “oOh YoU’rE bEaTiNg Me Up So WeLl” vibe. Like he is so above the opponent that he lets down his menacing persona and can’t help but have a little fun with his opponent.

Easily one of your best videos yet, extremely funny and well detailed for a video about yoshi overpowered mata defining down taunt.

5:02 I actually really like this taunt due to it’s origin. It’s the animation that byleth has when they level up in three houses

It's nice to hear somebody who enjoys the current "Sonic Speed!" taunt. While it's no "You're too slow!", I personally just really dig Sonic's delivery in that line. As much as I enjoy the thumbs-up Mario taunt, I do slightly miss his Mega Mushroom one from before. Obviously, it wouldn't work in the context of Ultimate and how it shortened taunts, but I like seeing Mario turn huge even if it makes him a giant target. For Bayonetta and Wolf, I like the up and side animations respectively. Wolf's "Are you scared?" fits his intimidating vibe well, but the line from Brawl, "What's the matter, scared?", was cooler. Likewise, Bayonetta's up taunt looked more elegant in Smash 4 with the long animation and the voice line was much better synced. Even so, the idea of taunting is fun. I like breaking them out while brawling against the AI or family. Very nice video.

Great video, I really enjoyed every minute, nice idea. Changes I would make: 271: Rosalina up 270: Rosalina side 269: Rosalina down But that’s it, great ranking!

Every time I see one of these videos I’m always surprised how much I care about these taunts because I’m always so angry by the placements

I like using Olimar's Up Taunt, and then immediately jumping afterwards, quite amusing.

As a villager main, I think it would be cool of they had his down taunt do a spike like Luigi down taunt does. Poking someone with a stick at the ledge would be a fun way to kill

One of my favorite taunts is Bowser Jr up taunt. Sure the animation is kind of boring, but whenever I play Bowser Jr I play as Morton, and he's become basically like an inside joke with me and my friends who play smash, he's super goofy. Whenever you use up taunt, the voice line that he uses is so funny I just can't help but use it whenever I can

I think doctor Mario’s up taunt is supposed to reference putting out a cigarette, and with that context, it’s way funnier and definitely doesn’t deserve last imo

Byleths let the lesson begin line is a neat reference to how in three houses their a professor and say that line in some of their battle lines

Something you didn’t mention about the inkling taunts is two of them are references to the actual in game communication methods in splatoon :) being “this way” and “booyah” both having a unique animation based on weapon but the ones in smash line up with the splattershot the inkling uses! Great video, I’ve been binging a bunch of them recently and they’re all super neat :D!

Inklings up taunt is “this way” from Splatoon which has the exact same animation and input (up on the D pad). Inklings down taunt is “booyah” with the same input and animation as well as in the actual game. I thought that was a really neat reference you might not have known.

I remember complaining about Pjiggle's taste in his video but man, the bar was low and you went lower lmao. But taste is subjective I suppose, that aside great video, looking forward to the moon ranking one (4h video maybe?)

One of Mario’s taunts should be swapped with a peace sign and a power star above his head. For the longest time, I’ve wanted that to either be a taunt or a victory animation so badly and it’s nuts that it still isn’t when it’s just so iconic to his character

I've always found Ryu's side taunt a little ironic, being as though, well, it's a taunt

I dont know why you were so harsh with squirtles animation. I think they're all at least mid teir and show a good amount of personality. They way he spins out of his side taunt and the expression he makes while he tries to correct himself are pretty charming, in my opinion and demonstrates a good amount of character, at least more than most of the marths witch got put in mid teir. I also like the way ivysaur tumbles out of it's side taut. It looks super dopey, and I like that.

I love the edit on 34:48. It's really funny!

10:21 As a Fire Emblem fan, I agree Corrin's taunt(also FE Fate's story) sucks. The line also kind of feels weak compared to other Fire Emblem cast in Smash bros.

Wouldn't it be cool if characters that have alternate costumes that change the character (Bowser Jr., Olimar, Inkling, Hero, and Steve) had different animations to fit that certain character? It would be so cool to see an animation with Munchie to play around with Hero(VIII), have Enderman do a Ridley taunt where he grows tall, Lemmy hitting his head with his wand, and Zombie eating rotten flesh. How do you think of that idea? Possibly a Smash missed opportunities video.
