i'm not gonna say who was 'tougher' i like randy but some of his fights were a little boring, he didn't have that killa instinct some fights he would just hold on n wrestle.

ben T that's my point. Randy wasn't the fastest or strongest athlete. He just would take people out to the deep water and drown them. I don't think it's possible for a man to be tougher than Randy.

Tito was a lot of talk but I think he understood the spectacle of things before he stepped up to fight guys like Couture -- to give a little backstory -- I wrestled Tito at the North vs. South JC All-Star Meet back in the 90's at 190 lbs. and he beat me -- I weighed in at 181 with jeans and a sweatshirt on and had a broken leg (thanks Bobby Posadas) and he cut down to 190 and was pretty intense -- I shouldn't have been wrestling but I was a fill-in for a guy from Fresno City (Tom Gohde?) and thought maybe I'd be OK -- I'd wrestled at Cal State Bakersfield and had started to come into my own when Title IX reared its ugly head I was a victim of cuts --- I went to Modesto Junior College and tried to go 167's at a dual tournament and nearly shit myself from cutting weight so I moved up to 190's and never looked back -- Tito and Gohde were the only 190 pounders worth a shit at the time and I was too busy partying to care -- After I destroyed the returning 6th medalist from the year before at a dual against Sac City I figured I could keep partying and win regardless -- Stupid me -- Lost to a marginal dude from Sac City at a tourney and got my ass chewed by my coaches after my mom told them I was still hammered -- Took 3rd and that woke me up and I went on a tear -- Beat the same guys Tito beat by the same margin he'd defeated them by (he beat John Devine, a pretty tough dude, 14-6 and I beat Divine 8-0) so I thought I was doing pretty well; Tito had barely defeated Gohde and he got injured before the All-Star Meet so I was picked -- I Shit the bed -- Had no business being out there -- Tito was training with Tank Abbott at the time and cut down to weigh in at 190 from about 220 and was a prick the whole time -- He was penalized a point during our match for unsportsmanlike conduct (deservedly, he was nearly throwing punches) and I just couldn't match up with my leg broken -- I had no lateral movement -- Didn't matter, he was too big and too physical for me -- He won and acted like an asshole afterward while I was carried off like the crippled pussy I was being -- I continued to try and keep wrestling later on but ended up submitting to my broken leg while he beat a a pretty solid guy from Sac City to win his 2nd JC state title while three arguably better wrestlers, myself, Larry Silva, and Gohde sat on the sidelines -- Tito ended up at CSU Bakersfield and promptly shit the bed himself -- He got destroyed by their starting line-up (Ritter, Corpstein, Duru, Scottand brought Tank in to roll around with the CSUB guys and he was summarily destroyed as well; Tank wanted no part of Uber-Stud Daryl Pope (beat Don Frye so badly during a wrestling match he had to be carried out on a stretcher) -- He even no-showed an inter-squad dual meet against my best friend and coaching partner Derek Scott, fearing (and rightly so) he'd get destroyed -- I took a tiny bit of consolation in having my former CSUB teammates tell me I was a lot tougher of a wrestler than Tito (his real name is Jacob by the way) -- He quit Bakersfield and began his career as a fighter -- Did OK by all accounts -- Randy and Frank Shamrock exposed him (I was taught how to shotgun beers while I was being recruited by CSUB at the Pac-10's in Boise by Couture, an OSU coach at the time, and Steve Lawson, another awesome bad-ass, as they were biting into the sides of Coors Lite's and sucking them down and telling cool stories that Tito could only wish he'd been a part of) as I saw Randy dismantle Belfort while the UFC was blowing Belfort (and all of the Brazilians) as unbeatable bad-asses -- Couture is a multiple time Greco world team member and his only loss his senior year at OK State was to NCAA Champ and another super bad-ass, Paul Keysaw -- Point being, Tito, if he had any brains (and, like I alluded to before, he did) was just talking shit on Couture to sell tickets and PPV buys to make everyone involved money -- Tito was an opportunist who made the most out of what he had -- More power to him...

He developed stroke like symptoms in 2004, and I guess thats what made him retire. He was originally suppose to fight Tito in a rubber match at ufc 50, but he was taken off the card because had to go to the hospital due to the stroke symptoms.
