Ramphele: South Africans are tired of being taken for granted

Anti-apartheid activist and Archbishop Tutu Intellectual Property Trust chairperson Dr Mamphela Ramphele shares her views on South Africa's seventh administration and the impact the elections have had in shaping a new government.
"We've spent 30 years patting ourselves on our backs despite the glaring failures... This election represents a major shift because the ANC president #CyrilRamaphosa was still saying they would win an outright majority. The people are tired of being taken for granted."

i love her honestly, i'm truly in tears right now. ANC has failed us as the youth and i really have no hope this government will ever have an interest in uplifting SA citizens from poverty. It really is sad.

Who would wànt to kill a minister, that does not want to kill DGgs, MPs or CEOs. They are old but act childishness still enjoying sportlight. DA has an opportunity to demonstrate true leadership, they should all refuse many cars and bodyguards. GNU is a good platform for DA to show its asymmetric from ANC

We need manufactures and car builders and new mines. Fast. Furios fast for jobs and people to start.,educating them selfes in it to break away and open their own places with that knoledge and money earned. We need the jobs created by that in vestments and the taxsition on that for the goverment, to me for the people that is urgent and more than serios. Be blessed.

Yeah right! The clothes that we called traditional was the cheapest piece of cloth produced in Germany and the rest of Europe that was brought by European missionaries to cover the "naked Africans". They could not bring in silk and cashmere because that was too expensive. So, there is nothing traditional about all the German produced original cloth we call African attire. Our African attire was animal skin that you see worn by Zulus and Tswana traditional dancers. That is our traditional attire Ms Ramphele. By the way, you speak English which is the language of the colonial masters. They don't even care to learn our languages because they are inferior to them. I don't wear Gucci and I don't wear so-called African attire. I wear anything that looks good and comfortable!

Florence Nightingale to today's Nurses challenges are not the same demographic and environmental changes and knowledge required it's the same with government

40% did not shock them, theyre still full of confidence despite the writing on the wall. Its not rocket science - when greed gets the better of value systems, things will drift south till it crashes. These politicians worked for their own liberation, leaving 'we the ppl' + the country off, much worse than before. And they're not finished yet. Whats the use of going back to the drawing board if ur not prepared to admit ur mistakes? If they keep on blaming everybody but urself for the royal mess. It will be a useless lekgotla polishing tainted marbles + glossing over crimes against humanity. Politicians who are still enjoying the lights, camera + action hype, should know - in the background, the system is getting rid of its crooks - unplanned, uncoordinated, unprogrammed + therefore extremely painful. Politicians who put superfluous barriers in each others ways, dancing on their gilded cages + playing little tat for tat games should know- theyre too pampered + weak to stop the proccess grinding out + tossing aside crooks. It cannot be stopped.
