    If there is so much throw-away Solar Electricity, why is Electricity so bloody expensive? It should be pennies even on the worst of days. Pump the surplus into the desert state grids and let them benefit from the clean energy.

    The electricity is being stored in batteries. Capacitors and batteries are not the same, though they both store electrical energy. Battery: Stores energy through chemical reactions within the cell. When connected to a circuit, these reactions produce a flow of electrons, generating electric current. Capacitor: Stores energy in an electric field created by a separation of charges. When connected to a circuit, the stored energy is released almost instantaneously. Battery: Provides a steady and sustained current over a longer period. Capacitor: Discharges rapidly, often providing a burst of energy in a very short time. Battery: Has a higher energy density, meaning it can store more energy for a given size or weight. Capacitor: Typically has a lower energy density but can deliver energy at a higher power (faster discharge rate). Battery: Has a limited number of charge/discharge cycles before it degrades and loses capacity. Capacitor: Can endure many more charge/discharge cycles without significant degradation. Battery: Commonly used in devices requiring sustained energy over time, such as smartphones, laptops, and electric vehicles. Capacitor: Used in applications requiring quick bursts of energy, such as in camera flashes, power conditioning, and as a component in electronic circuits to smooth out voltage fluctuations.

    Most people are not told about batteries when they get their panels. They get told that the extra electricity will be sold to the electric company during the day. What they also don't tell you is that under the law, if you sell electricity back to the electric company that makes you an electric company and a commercial concern and thereby at night you pay the commercial rate for electricity which is four times the residential rate. They also don't tell you that the electric company sets the wholesale price they pay you not you and it's usually around 5% of the KWH charge they charge their residential customers. So you go into debt to have a $60,000 power plant installed on your roof, make payments of around $1000 a month for that and then you still have an electric bill due to the above only it's twice what it was before. Which is why I bought all my own equipment and got it surplus for 25% of the normal price for the materials and I installed it myself and included the back up batteries and I am not on the grid at all. Technically it's illegal to be off the electric grid but disconnected my line and informed the electric company that I was not there customer. They sent me a bill for the basic line and I informed them that I was NEVER going to pay since I was not their customer. They can only sue if the bill is over $500 and they can't bill past the second month since they have it in their power to disconnect my electricity so all they did was send me two bills and then came out to disconnect a line that was already disconnected. That was five years ago. I paid $12,000 cash for my system and have not paid a dime since. 99% of all the other people regret getting solar for the above reasons. My investment paid for itself as of last year. Now I get free electricity courtesy of the sun. My system is expected to continue working for another 15-25 years. The problem isn't that the grid is elementary. The problem is that it exists in the first place. The only winners in this nationwide scam are the electric companies who earn more profits the more solar panels are installed because every time a new customer gets panels they get yet another source of way cheaper electricity than their power plants. It is their plan to shut down all commercial power plants and rely on their customers to supply them with power eventually installing their own batteries to store their customer's electricity. It's the biggest scam in America. You pay for the privilege of supplying the electric company with free electricity in exchange for paying higher rates on what they sell to you at night.

    I spent most of my childhood terrified if being sent to die in Vietnam. My uncle came back a mess. He lost an arm and a leg but he brought back two purple hearts and a bronze star and some other medals. I became physically ill when I saw him at the bust station that day. The biggest relief was when it ended. I was 15 at the time and a freshman in high school. We in the front lobby by the main entrance of our high school a wall covered in photos of dead alumni. I had known some of them. Almost everyone in the school knew someone who lost a family member and many had themselves lost a family member. A teacher whom I had never met but had worked at the high school for a year right after college ended up going as a reserve officer. He died there. There was a plaque outside the classroom where he had taught. My Dad was a veteran of Korea and told me about his experiences. That did not help me be less scared. He told me that war makes boys into men. I retorted with "or corpses." He died a year after the war ended.

After they spent 60k to install the solar pge came back and said no, they won't tie them into the grid and pay for the excess energy cause if anything went wrong they'd be liable for the solar system and upkeep of the infrastructure. I only know one person that actually got tied into the grid but pge only pays them about 200/yr for what's produced.

    No it's not actually. It's going to be here for many years to come and it's going to be higher. If you have solar installed you are an electric company and as such a commercial business so you will pay the commercial rate for the electricity at night. That is four times the residential rate. When you sell electricity to the electric company during the day they set the rate, not you. And that is usually 5-10% of the residential KWH charge. So you get free electricity for 50% of each day but you pay four times as much the other 50% meaning that if you get solar your electric bill has a net increase of double what you used to pay. And for the privilege of paying twice as much for electricity you have tp put yourself in debt to the tune of around $60,000 give or take. Nice scam.

    If there’s so much solar available why is there any cost for electricity?

  • @nunyabiznez6381

    @nunyabiznez6381

    12 күн бұрын

    Because the whole thing is a scam. Firstly, the electric companies bribe the legislatures into making laws that make it extremely expensive and difficult to install battery back up. Then they made a law that the electric company can decide how much to pay you for your excess. Then they made a law declaring all who have solar as electric companies and as such a commercial business eligible for the commercial electric rates which is four times the residential rates. So go into debt to buy a $60,000 solar array then get free electric when it's day time but pay four times as much at night resulting in a net increase of twice what you used to pay. Meanwhile the electric company gets so much free electricity it doesn't know what to do with it all. There is no incentive to buy those expensive batteries since the electric company is making a huge profit from the scam they are currently running with solar. Hence the cost. Of course I took myself off the grid by tricking the electric company into permanently disconnecting me by refusing to pay my invalid bill. All that after paying $12,000 cash for everything I needed 5 years ago and after four years it paid for myself. I don't pay at night because my batteries kick in. It does help that I have energy efficient appliances. And batteries are not the only way to store energy. I have a well insulated home and so I chill my home down to 50 degrees with AC when I am at work and then I turn off the AC at sundown and when I get home from work at ten at night my place is still quite cool. It does not usually kick in again until around 4 AM. I live in Florida hence the need. The heat my fridge produces is vented outside so that also saves. My hot water is made hot from being run through copper tubes on my roof. All my lights are LED. I watch TV on my laptop and I don't use a lot of other appliances. I have two E-Bikes and alternate use charging them while I am at work when the sun is up. That stores quite a bit of power as well. I also now only buy appliances with built in batteries that can be recharged. My blender is like this. So are my power tools. I have a shelf in the hallway dedicated to charging rechargeable items. More and more things you buy now are rechargeable and the cost of these things keeps coming down. My laptop is good for about three hours on a charge.

    Solar only works when there is a light source which goes away at sunset. People are not told about back up batteries when they get solar because of the added cost and are tricked into signing up to sell to the electric company at a fraction of the residential rate but then they have to pay the commercial rate when the sun goes down because if you sell electricity you are an electric company and pay commercial rates so bottom line when you get solar and don't get a back up battery you pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege of doubling your rates. Almost nobody gets batteries with their solar panels because they don't understand how the whole thing works. I bought my equipment surplus for $12k and that was five years ago. Last year it paid for itself after four years so now I get all the free power I want for the next 15-25 years day and night. Batteries, batteries batteries!

    That's the problem. When Reagan ran the second time people didn't know it but the were voting for Nancy. His family and staff were propping him up. Same with Biden. Biden's family and staff are doing the heavy lifting. He's mostly there now as a figure head and making the occasional speech. Biden is incompetent but then Biden isn't really running the country, his family and staff are and they are doing a better job than Trump. So, vote for the Biden team.

    I'm not an elite but have voted Democratic since I was 18 - until now I'm 70 - have a college degree, own a home and raised three children. I think we need an alternative to Biden, that a younger and more vibrant communicator could bring a lot of incentive and enthusiasm from the young voters, people of color, people of broader imagination and diversity of world views. I have taken care of elderly/disabled for last 20 years and growing old is a process, an incremental decline - that is nothing to be ashamed of - but is a reality that we should not dismiss.
