Well I have to say I have been an automotive technician for 25 years I'm an ASE certified Master tech and it doesn't matter what you buy they all have fail points built into them and the only reason I'm biased toward Dodge is because I like the way they look and I've have had quite a few over the years and I have had good luck with them and thank you for your blessings, stan

Not a cert. Tech but I did like my dodge as much as my fords tech wise... I sold the dodge couple days go after 45k miles on it... it was a comfortable ride but started showing rust after 2 North east winters and I had to trade it before it got bad ... it was a good truck, no tech problems and only had to swap 2 tires as front end didn't wear well ... got stuck with my chevy on side of road few times but have to say it was a tug of war with that thing all way up to 100k miles ... it turned down hill really fast past 60k n it even sat for couple years before I sold it ...

I'm really happy for you guys, that your having great luck with the pickups. I've heard more times than I can count of current gen hemis eating camshafts or puking the whole engine. One common theme it seems to those cases is LOTS of idle time. IE: squad cars and pickups on construction sites and in mining. Hope they continue to serve you guys in the years ahead, trouble free!

Toyo m55 tires, ran those for years with 0 issues. BF GOODRICH TRACTION T/As is a great snow tire, not to be run in summer. I had rams since 96 and my first diesel in 99, 01,03,05 , 13 and my big ram 5500 is a16. All my trucks were 6sp except for the 16 and that was my first auto, and I would go back to a stick immediately if they offer them again.

I tell you this, ive had all 3, gas and diesel. Not new of course but these are results ive had , i have only dodge trucks now. 1 2500 gas, and an old w350 12 valve cummins. Only complaint i have is the bodies. But keep in mind, trucks are built for work, when they concentrate on luxury and such you lose somewhere else on it. Ive had 2 duramax, both garbage when worked, my fords pulled great, but maneuvering, and durability in drivetrain was lacking. The dodges done everything i wanted and more. Ive had 1 issue in my 2500. That was an overdrive solenoid

Glad you are having good luck. Four years later two transmissions and rust all over the place my ram 2500 has not been very good Upstate NY . Only good thing I can say about mine is the Cummins engine. Been a nightmare with wiring issues with this truck. My 04 f 350 Dolly does not have anywhere near the rust. Yes it has that 6.0 nightmare engine but at 80 thousand had it bullet proofed 400 thousand miles later it’s still running great and plowing and also put a piece pickup bed dump.kit on it. Don’t know if I’ll get another Dodge after this one . Not been happy with this truck durability after four years

You are correct the factory tires are junk. Ours lasted between 12-15,000 as well. When washing the truck go to the front and back of the rear tire, then put the washer nozzle between the inner fender liner and the open space under the bed. This allows the washer to clean out all the mud and salt that causes rust in the wheel well. We have had Ram trucks since 2011 and have never had one rust over the rear tires like you described because we wash them in this fashion. It is surprising to see how much dirt and grime collect in this area. Great review!!!

Give that 6.4 some time and you’ll need a “valve adjustment” because that engine is flawed. They have have problems oiling the cam and lifters. The lobes start to flatten and they sound like a diesel. Dodge has a solution and that is tightening the valve springs, which only compounds the issue. 2018 power wagon with 68,000 miles and I need a new engine. Diesels are good for constant power output like pulling a long hill with a trailer, or moving a train, or churning a generator, or moving a ship across the ocean, or plowing a street or highway in continuous motion. Diesels are not good for work that is start-stop-start-stop. The turbo lag kills productivity for plow trucks used for parking lots. A turbo gaser would be similarly counterproductive for this specific workload. A big naturally aspirated V8 may have less power available at max output than many of these new fangled turbo gas and turbo diesel options, but the big V8 can very rapidly go from idle to making enough power to quickly lunge the vehicle back and forth in a parking lot without delay. The only thing better from a power response perspective would be electric. Dirt Monkey figured this out years ago and it's absolutely true. Furthermore, diesels are more expensive to buy and maintain. The added costs of the diesel are not useful in fleets where they are going to get beat up long before the engines wear out anyway. Fords new Godzilla V8 will be very popular in company work truck fleets for plow/tow rigs.

A diesel for a plow truck is the worst choice. Gas plow trucks are the way to go unless you are talking about a city/county plow truck situation. For a truck to do the plowing like this guy dies or like most of us do a diesel will have tons of engine problems over it's life as it's not made for constant low power/speed usage.
