Ram 2500 6.4L Hemi Towing MPG with 4.10 Gear Ratio

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Our 2022 Ram 2500 6.4L Hemi Towing MPG with 4.10 gear ratio video shows real life towing mpg. We first show a quick 2022 ram 2500 6.4 hemi review. Next, we show Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi mpg towing various weights of real trailers, tractors and campers.
Over the past year, we towed many different items on small and large open trailers as well as campers with our 2022 Ram 2500 6.4L hemi powered truck. Our truck was ordered with the 4.10 gear ratio so that we could keep good towing capacity even with 35x12.50R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and 2" leveling kit.
This video takes you through Ram 2500 6.4 hemi mpg from empty to towing near 10,000 lbs. We show the exact mpg as calculated by the truck's computer. What is really neat in our Ram 2500 6.4 hemi towing video is the truck calculated the exact same mpg three separate times for the same weight being towed.
We hope you enjoy our video on Ram 6.4 Hemi towing. I absolutely love this ram 2500 6.4 hemi.

  • @xGR1MxREAPERx
    @xGR1MxREAPERx2 ай бұрын

    Your truck is actually getting a little better milage then it says as your tires are bigger. The computer is calculating your mpg off stock tire size. When you go bigger your Speedo reads slower. 60 is 57 etc.. so you are going further then the computer thinks your going. Now, on a 400 mile gas tank you probably only go another 30 miles total but still that is good for another 1 mpg or so. Either way nice video.

If I towed every day then I would probably go with a Cummins but for a weekend tower, the hemi has been great.

    Great video! I just got a Night Edition like this with the 4.10s. I haven't leveled it yet, but after winter I will. We're you running 87 or 89 octane? I've been buying 87 regular lately since its cheaper and I've noticed better mileage than when I was using 89 octane. That could be more of a break in thing though I suppose since I'm now past 4000 miles. Is that a Thuren leveling kit? Do you have rear coil spacers for towing or how do you deal with the squat?

    @@useful.knowledgegreat video. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm looking at the 2500 Rebel in the Hemi. One of the reasons Ram said the PW can't tow much or have the higher payload is because the softer suspension. When you changed your suspension out and it felt more like a 1500, does that affect your payload and towing numbers?

  • @useful.knowledge

    Hi. Yes, the PW is more like a 1500 and a half in towing and payload. To answer your question, no the payload and towing doesn’t change with the leveling kit because the springs are changed on the front end not the rear.

    Nice video and beautiful truck. I want to upgrade from my Ram 1500 to a 2500 Laramie with the 4.10. One thing, you should do hand calculations for your mpg. That EVIC calc is not accurate. All 3 of my Ram's have been 1 to 1.5 mpg off from the EVIC. The EVIC registers higher than the actual hand calculated mpg. I truly believe that is a feel good thing Ram does. The only accurate way to calculate is by hand. Nice to see that you know how gearing works. You made the right choice with 4.10 as your installed tires raised your ratio. The leveling of the truck also effects mpg. The 4.10 in my book is the best for all 2500's. The 3.73 is a bit high for a heavy truck. Mileage is affected as the truck has to work a bit harder to maintain speed vs a using the 4.10.

  • @useful.knowledge

    @useful.knowledge

    6 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the comments. I used the computer for consistency between different hauls but I’ve been thinking about doing almost the same video using hand calculation. I will tell that I absolutely love the truck. I really like that 6.4 engine, the leveling kit, tire size, and the 4.10 setup. The 4wd lo turns the truck into a some type of beast. A few months ago I pulled a car out of a ditch and it was like it didn’t even struggle. I like that the gas engine is lighter in the front which makes it better in muddy conditions. The diesel is so heavy, my other truck would basically sink into the mud.

    Hi. The hemi moves the almost 10k lb tractor setup down the road nicely. The place that I notice that it’s a gasser is a very steep mountain near the hunting club. The Hemi revs up pretty high but so did the Cummins (it rev’’d high for a diesel). It’s an 8 speed tranny so when towing almost 10k lbs, it will mainly run in 6th and 7th gear. I honestly worried about going back to a gas burner after having two different diesels since 2005 but I honestly haven’t missed a beat. I especially do not miss all of the extra maintenance required on the 6.7 Cummins. When I’m not towing, this thing is actually fun to drive.

    Hi. If memory serves, it was between 17-18 just everyday driving. My commute to work is some two lanes, some interstate, and some almost city. My issue with the 6.7 Cummins and I’m sure Chevy and Ford are close the same, is the amount of added maintenance compared to my 2005 5.9 Cummins. DEF, crankcase ventilation filter(every 67k), fuel filter (every 25k) and then if throws a code such as some type of DEF, you will get limped after 150 miles. That was not an option for me and with how long it takes to get parts, my truck could be sitting in Mississippi for a month while I’m back in Alabama working and renting another truck.

    I'm going look if you did another video recently. Typically mpg goes up in a new vehicle after a few miles. The last two f150s I got it took between 5k and 10k miles and then I got the best mpg. 3.5L I got upper 23 mpg 2.7L I got upper 25 mpg premium at 62mph I got 28.9 mpg on a trip that had hills and drove thru 3 towns. Anyway, just curious your mpg now that you've had the truck a while. I'm also looking to get a camper in 2 years. So im in the market for a 3/4 ton gasser. Only two I'm considering is the f250 or the Ram. Pros to the f250 for me is the "hill decent control" option. I wish Ram had that. Now Ram I feel gives you more for your buck. I've built several of both trucks at their websites. Down side both manufacturers have is that you can't get a 46 or 50 gallon tank unless you go 8 foot bed. I dont need a 24' truck lol
