    Laz, an observation on your breeding, I breed in single coops because I race homers so I know in a large coop the hen can be mated by other males so I found that out that I was about 90% on the parentage. I know in squabbing pigeons it's not practicable by the size of your operation.It looks good though.

    You mostly let your birds choose their own mate and nest box, right? You talk about putting a pair in a certain box--could you maybe do a video on how you do that? Mine basically are all over the place, so there's a lot of "squabbling" over territory. They may nest in the same slot twice, but then again they may decide to try the apartment upstairs next time. Thanks!

    Try blocking off all your unused nest boxes it will help keep them in one box

    Your videos are fantastic, learning a ton. Do you have two feeders of corn and one feeder of pellets? Also, are the pellets a specific pigeon formulation or just a high protein turkey/gamebird pellet?

  • @lazdelgado4377

    Yes we have two portions of our feeders for corn and only one for pellets our pellets are a special formula just for pigeons Thanks again for watching my videos and I do appreciate your comments

    The pigeon grit looks like just rocks? Is it not like the ground up oyster shells or something that you'd give chickens? How does it help eggshells if it's just rock?

  • @lazdelgado4377

    @lazdelgado4377

    4 жыл бұрын

    It has rock with oyster shell . Charcoaland vitamins and minerals the purpose of the small rock is it goes into the gizzard of the bird and the gizzard is a muscle that crushes the feed and when you add rock into the gizzard it helps smash the feed and the bird digest it more easily they get more nutrients from their feed it looks like just rock but there’s a lot more in it thank you for watching my video and the response

    @@lazdelgado4377 thanks for clarifying! Yeah I know how they grind the food up in the gizzard I just had not seen someone feeding something quite so rock like before but I'm new to pigeons (have raised all kinds of poultry though) so didn't know if that was like a pigeon specific thing or not. Great info!

    I’m not sure what you want to teach it but you should get a young bird if you have a small cage and have plans to teach it something Pigeons need room to flap their wings and walk around so it should not stay in the cage all day if it’s small
