    It’s very important to vaccinate your birds and give them a D warmer in order to keep them healthy Worms will deteriorate the health of Birds very quickly and give them a slow death they are very destructive to pigeons The birds will be unable to gain weight and slowly waste away

    The more room the birds have on the height the less often you need to clean the nest box .the splitter in the box is 16 inches which is 3/4 of the entire nest box that gives the Squab plenty of room

    Thanks for sharing. I am having problems keeping the squabs alive past few weeks. I did clean out the nest bowl and replaced it with fresh hay. Do you think that could be the cause of why my 3 weeks old squabs died? I also noticed they had very little feathers on them where as the other pair has squabs about the same age but a lot more feathers on them. You advise /input would be appreciated .?

    I had the same problem a few years back for some reason my birds about two weeks of age would die I would clean out the nest box disinfect it it was in a new building that I finished there was another gentleman that had built his building at the same time and we had both experience the same problem with our new buildings at the same time if I remember correctly it was this time of the year it lasted approximately three months and then my bird stop dying I did speak with the vet he advised medicating my flock I did not medicate them it ran it’s course and my mortality rate changed after three months the medication was very expensive Whatever it was ran it’s course in my flock and then went away I lost zero breeders so it was bad but not horrible

    @@lazdelgado4377 May be that explains why the other squabs are still doing well because I was giving the other pair 3 in one treatment for cankers, coccidiosis and worming . Their squabs defo have more feathers and are still alive. It could be the cold weather too . The pair which just lost the squabs is smaller breed and prolly not able to cover the squabs as the bigger breed can??? Just thinking loud.

    @@victorygarden556having kept a lot of pigeon breeds from kings, to racers, to pouters, you won't beat feral pigeons for a self sufficient flock. The odd hand full of feed and a safe place to nest, they'll forage most of there own food for you. Granted they aren't the biggest, but for ease of keeping, and predator resistance, they take some beating.

    How do you pair your pigeons? Do you just try to sex then and release them in the pen and they pair themselves? After they are paired I’m assuming they stay in there pens or claim them, do you have some that switch pens? You said you put a bracelet on them and mark which pen they are using is that correct? Sorry for all the questions I’m looking through all your videos to try to get some of the questions answered. Last question. You stated you have 2,000 pairs so how many squabs do they produce in a year total or weekly or how ever you calculate that?.

  • @lazdelgado4377

    @lazdelgado4377

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes when we start new pens we try to put even numbers of males and females we’d like to put a few extra females they tend to die a little easier once they have mated up we do put leg bands on them and that identifies which nesting box they are using our production varies we are often starting new pens and getting rid of old birds we produce between 250 and 400 birds a week In the winter time it slows down it also depends on how many pairs we have culled out

If you only had two birds it would be easy it shouldn’t be that much I would imagine $10 or so depending on how much you pay for your feed.
