I lived in the country, rescued a pigeon with a broken leg. Kept her all winter, in the house. In spring , drove 30 mins away to release her where she came from, the city. Fast-forward a few months, I moved to the city. I started feeding the wild pigeons and one day she showed up. I know it's her . Her leg is unmistakable. She was a yr old when I released her . She's 5 now and still comes every day, with her mate, and last year her young one. I hope yours come back. ❤️🇨🇦

After you caught all of your pigeons you must put them in a cage in one month after one month you can release them and they will come back if they have a babies to feed don't push them to go back to the cage they will go inside on their own and you must feed them every day and you must watch them and talk to them your presence in the cage will be very important because your sense is they map for them to come home if they have go further distance this is my advice because that is the routine we do here in the Philippines thank you

On adult previously flown birds...I have cut all the primary feathers on one wing on birds. Kept them in loft for 2-3 weeks and then let them fly. 90% of time they stay on loft or on house...and have had 50/50 luck on them staying around. The last two ended up disappearing after homing for 6-8 months....one first and then other...think it was a Coopers Hawk. So this time got 5 never flown young birds....to try.

I was going to comment the same thing. When they have babies, they always return. Same with the same noise when feeding time comes. Make the noise, (Whistle, shake a feed can, whatever) and they come back.

Oh no Bobby. You should never force them to go outside the coop, instead at least just let the door open and let the pigeons decide wether they go out or not and that way it's up to them if they gonna come back or not.

A general rule is if there not back by the third day there probably not coming home . You should make a nice big flight pen on the top of your loft . This allows the birds to see there surroundings in a relaxed state . Good luck for the future.

Love the pigeon vids. Just a few tips Bob, feed the birds about a tablespoon each bird for three days then on the fourth day open the door and let them be and then in the evening call them with the same whistle or call you normally use and feed them. Keep them slightly more on the hungry side and try to fly them more and more often they will be flying better in no time.

I learned from president of local pigeon racing club. Build a vestibule platform enclosure around their one-way entry that you can put them in hungry until they figure out how to go in and eat. Design it to fold down in front of the one way entry to function as a platform where they can land. This way, they know how to get back in their home well before they fly.

The only thing I can add to this is stuff that has been said. Keep them hungry, NEVER force them out. Yeah, if they've never flown outside? They get winded easily. Definitely make a fly pen/ screened portion that they can see in all directions before you try again. Hopefully, you got them all back and keep letting them out. Even if there's only half back? Those are your foundation birds. Good luck!

Before you let the out to fly, make sure they do fly on an empty stomach. They will fly & exercise better & they will enter into your pigeon coops when food is available for them. Trap train them also, so that way they will be able to gain entrance to the lofts. Always fly them on empty stomach then call them in with food. Lovely pigeons by the way & a good loft setup.

I love the videos! I hope you read this to help your pigeon loft, I seen a few mistakes you did by rushing the birds out on there first time out your posed to let them out by themselves some bird might not be ready for to fly out some take there time and you recently moved the pigeons probably didn’t get a good chance to see there surroundings and still could be used to your old house as home or the other loft they came from so you put your birds in a cage few feet away from the loft so they can see all there surrounding for an 1 hour each day if they young birds 3 year olds or less 2 weeks doing that would be great the older the bird the longer you might want to do it maybe for 3 weeks or 4 I have successfully loft Federal pigeons and racing pigeons, I hope you do too! I hope Jordan see this too and try it would be amazing to see 200+ pigeons flying together around the barn 🤘

If you let your cocks out only, the first few times, 8f they have mates, they quickly return. They will show the other birds what to do. I leave my lofts open unless to windy, always. Breeders are trapped but, they can leave, babies cant. If they are mated and happy, they will always come back. They put themselves to sleep before dark, like chickens. I close traps later and fly my teams, no breeders. (If im using fake eggs, i fly them)

Hi. I saw your video and thought I'd send you some ideas. First, somewhere, on your coop, build a landing board up high and with no legs to the ground as racoons will climb them, get in and eat your birds. second, using traps just like you have on your trap on top of the coop, cut a hole in the side that just fits your traps and then put the traps in the hole. Now you have a doggy door type entrance for your birds. Before you release them, build a little 2'x2' cage with one side open and place the open side against the coop where the traps are that you just put in. Put all your birds in the cage and then put food in the coop. Each bird will eventually navigate the traps and go in. Do this 4 or 5 times then when you let them out they have a door to go in and they know how to go in. After that, you just let them out and hope for the best.

The Adults will go back to where they hatched at if they are or have homing blood in them. If not they are gone for good. They done flew the coop. If you want to keep them from flying back out you need a one way door. Basically a small door that they can push open when they come in but can't push back out. And easy one is to use a series of vertical metal bars about the thickness of chain link fencing and have a swivel point at the top. Have them spaced far enough apart that they can fit their heads through and they will push through. You may need to train them a little first by hand. It also works for doors on traps. It's used quite a lot here in Germany. Also you should use slide down doors just big enough for the birds to get out. You just open the doors and let the birds go out on their own and not push them. Once they are all out just shut the slide doors and have a small perch for them to land on with the one way doors there. They should be side by side or they may become confused and just fly back off and not return. Guess I should've waited a little more. The swing door like what's on the trap, lol.

That was alot of work just to add to the feral population. Lesson learned. Watch some loft training videos on how to do it right and start again. Remember never let breeding pairs out when they have chicks. It was fun while it lasted Clark. Goodbye little buddy. 😪😫😭

If you really want to enjoy flying get Tippler pigeons & also you have to train them properly have to have a aviary so they can look around get familiar with the area so they will come back good luck

They are wild birds they probably just flew away! But the ones that stayed behind have some homing ability which if you keep breeding them, you should have some nice homing barn pigeons.

With new birds that never have been released, how long should they stay in their coop before releasing them for their first time?
