🪦 RIP Charlie. She had a great life. I'm glad she stuck around long enough to see her Gar friends off. That snow-white gar is absolutely stunning!! Had no idea they come in that colour. I hope this one lives for a long time.

Hey! The plants that had the longer leaves and led down to a small root systems are called Java fern. They will die in the substrate. They are rhizome feeding plants which means they feed in the water column. I suggest putting them on rocks or wood with superglue or fishing line.

The dark green plant with large leaves on the left of the pond is called anubias. They have the same care as java fern. So also remove that one from the sand

I'm so sad at the death of Charlie. It is so wonderful though that Charlie had a good life of friends, treats, and clean water for the remainder of their short life. Congrats on the platinum gar! How awesome it is!

BamaBass is making a pond too, and I am wondering if the baby catfish avoid predatory birds any better than bass and Bluegill, as they hide during the day. I love my catfish, I miss big Odie videos!

@@aarone1981 I assume it depends on area, a catfish would probably never interact with a predatory bird in it’s lifetime unless automatic feeders are present.

Beautiful Gar! I used to have a Crawfish named Jack, I absolutely adored him and was able to completely tame him enough that I could hold him and he wouldn't pinch me with his pinchers. He let me hand feed him too, he was the sweetest thing ever

I saw a gar yesterday, my daughter and I did. It was at a nature preserve East of Galveston. Looks like a bayou with a lot of trees underwater. The gar was under some moss and we could only see the tail, but as it swam away we got a good look. Magnificent fish, I recognized it because of this channel. thanks

It’s cool that we’re gonna see a new fish!

The last two plants you added are java fern. They frow from shyzomes which should never be planted in substrate as they will rot and die. How to pt them in an aquarium is my tying them to smal rocks or drift wood or you can use vrazy glue or gorilla glue to stick the rhyzome to the hardscape. The do have rootlets which will eventually attach to the rocks and drigtwoood.

I’ve bow fished for years growing up and I never knew there was a “platinum” alligator gar! I’d assume there would be albino’s but even that things eyes are white! Beautiful gar!

I love alligator gars they look absolutely amazing and they’re so cool!

I've been wondering about Charlie for quite a while. So sorry he passed away. RIP Charlie💗

Turtles brumate in the winter and spend most of their time on the bottom of the pond. I have not seen Tank yet at the old pond.
