Babylon 5 and DS9 had some excellent writing for sci fi shows. The Expanse is another one. But yeah RBW is one of the best around today.

Without her veil - she will undoubtedly develop emotions and a soul. It will be interesting to see her journey into realising what she has done.

@@dreamer2260 I love Mother. She’s raw unfiltered emotion and intellect. What I really love about Mother is that she is an empowered woman. Not like the cheesy SJW type. She is so so strong and dominant, while also being feminine and caring. I think that I enjoy that type of female personality being displayed in a way that isn’t shoved down our throats like SJW style. She is a fictional character but sometimes I envision her as a role model for me since I am a female as well.

Just wanted to point out something. Grandmother did something to Father. At the end of one episode his eyes flicker. The next time we see him he is waking up and Grandmother is already standing in the room. Something happened that we didn't see. She may have changed Father's programing somehow. She did mention something about him being her partner.

This series is the Prometheus story we never got - Whatever happened on this planet and its ancient civilisation may have happened to the engineer race aswell in broad terms. Both civilisations seem to have practiced ritual sacrifice by using some kind of organic technology, perhaps they both lost control of it.

HBO is trash. Not only cancelling one of the greatest shows of all time. they then took it off the platform. A remnant of what was once the best channel available. All new management are inept.

And now we will never get to see her plan in full action because HBO cancelled the show 🙄. Let’s hope it gets picked up by another network.

I can't wait to see Mother's revenge, just like Cersei did with a glass of wine.

Grandmother has massively underestimated Father's loyalty to Mother and to the betterment of humanity. She hasn't realized how "different" Father and Mother are yet, and while she also only intends _good_ (contrary to what a lot of people are assuming) Father will definitely be capable of preventing her from achieving that when he works out what she's doing :o

I have a feeling this series is the sequel to Prometeus series. I have a feeling David after hijacking the ship and its crew mabye drifted to Kepler B where he continued his sick experiments. The monsters and de evolved humans are probably his creations and its possible he also found a way to make more androids with the Engineer technology. I'm pretty sure Grandmother is one of his creations and he probably programmed his own insanity into her

Your theory would be convincing if their technology and background is the same, but unfortunately they're not, raised by wolves has very unique earth and unique civilization, probably they're parallel universe to Prometheus universe, and it still can't explain the entity, engineers is doomed and they have no reason to be a passive destroyer

But she’s smiling like she’s enjoying what’s she doing. In disregard of it hurting mother. She knows them children are her world. But machines don’t feel any emotions. That’s why I’m starting to believe. Mother is starting to become more human as the show goes on. So I think for story value that grandmother is the new main villain. Taking us into the new season.

That's precisely what she understands - the bigger picture. Changing the humans to ensure their continued 'survival'. She's as evil as molten lava chasing you down a volcano, not cruel nor wanting, just doing her function and having pride in what she does.

She's smiling in the false way all the androids in the show do, without it authentically meeting her eyes. It may not be reflective of real pleasure, it may be a smile intended to put Lamia at ease or something. I think it would be unwise to assume she'll be a 'villain'. I don't think this show necessarily makes that an easy definition. I think she'll be an antagonist. But from her perspective, she's meeting the criteria of her programming. It's going to be interesting seeing her develop more, and be affected more by the removal of her veil and interacting with the humans. I figure she's going to face off a bit against Marcus. Perhaps Father will team up with Marcus when he finally sees what Grandmother's plan is.

It chose Marcus because he was on the verge of being discovered as an atheist by the mythraic (and would have been probably executed by them), it chose Paul who was a true believer, it chose Sue because she was desperate to save Paul and finally it chose Lucius because he hates Marcus and sees him as a false prophet. If the entity is > 1 million years old, I think it's smart enough choose the right "specimens" to do it's biding by profiting off human emotions and their weaknesses. This also fits with the "simpler versions of themselves" because de-evolved humans don't rely on emotions and therefore cannot be reached by the signal and be manipulated.

It’s something about that game she’s letting everybody play. That’s causing the mutation.

I oddly agree with grandmother, it does seem to be the best solution to shield humans from the entity while preserving them at the same time. Though finding the entity and killing it completely can be a solution, maybe grandmother concludes that devolving humans is more effective.

@@bryeetsonny9458 - Grandmother genuinely believes in preserving humanity and knows the only way to do so is to force the devolution as quickly as possible, or else Sol will kill them all. She knew Mother wouldn't understand (hence trapping her for the time being) but actually hopes that in time Mother will be able to help her care for the devolved humans. It seems evil to us, but her intentions (in her android mind) are 100% good. She doesn't reason like humans do, to her as long as she has saved the humans from death then she is serving her purpose. Mother on the other hand knowingly and willingly killed over a thousand people, including children, when she crashed the Mithraic arc. So I find it quite amusing that we automatically see Mother as the "good" one, and Grandmother as the "bad" one, even though Grandmother is trying to save everyone and Mother intentionally chose to kill over a thousand people. This show is super interesting like that, the way it subverts expectations without and makes you question your morality, haha

We don’t know Sols plans to say they will kill them all nor Grandmothers past (even though I’ll say changing peoples into creatures without consent is enough) to compare to the people mother has killed. We can use your logic to say mother killing over 1000 people was her genuine believes in preserving new humanity in her android mind. But regardless both ideology’s are evil simply and goes against there basic programming.

But what I am saying is that from _Grandmother's_ perspective, she is doing what she believes will save humanity - all humans on Kepler if possible. It seems to have been the only solution that worked in the past (humanity didn't die, and Sol went back to sleep) so she's not 'evil' in that sense, though to humans what she wants to do seems evil. It could end up being the lesser evil compared to what Sol seems to have in store for them, heh. Evil, as always, is a matter of perspective :)

Reminds me of "Oryx and Crake".

One thing I’ve found odd about Hollywood androids is how they largely choose to communicate verbally and are almost always humanoid… you’d think they would use much faster radio communication and have multiple appendages. WRT to this story, perhaps the androids are meant to be the next level of evolution for humanity, and the androids are maintaining superiority over humanity by manipulating and devolving them?

I imagine humans would want their androids to be made in their image and have the same communication. Them talking to each other in other ways would surely be unsettling to many. The only show that I've seen explore androids when they don't need to look pretty is Westworld. They made this weird white androids with muscles showing and no face. They looked amazing and it wasn't cgi.

Android means Man like, so any other shape is just a Robot, even Robot derives from Robotnika, forced labour or slave, so whilst an R2 unit is a Robot it's not an Android like C3PO, we like things to have familiar shapes but not too like us or the Uncanny Valley kicks in!

Having them not connect internally could be interpreted as a security feature, Mother was able to shut down Grandmother through close proximity imagine shutting down all the androids with one network call. Also having them humanoid shape logistically would be cheaper, you don't have to arrange openings or seating for anything larger or smaller.

The cycle starts over. Poor mother can't catch a break constantly getting reprogrammed :( is this what being human is?

Well it's clear (Certainly to Mother) that Grandmother needs to be stopped at all costs.

This is what Hollywood is actually capable of, brilliant smart storytelling with amazing character development, beautiful effects and landscapes that bring the movie or show to its fullest potential. If you thought of movie making as an art form, many Hollywood big wigs should take note and follow in this way of film making. This could work for any genre, the amount of time and care put into everything and the story crafting going on here. We could have like a golden age of cinema. But sadly there’s so many agendas that push for dumbing down story plots for the sake of political correctness, the greed that eats up the budget and puts less in the effects for the sake of paying ridiculous amounts for big movies stars that don’t act well in the part. We could have better cinema, we could. If only.......

I didn't like Vrille or Decima but not because of the casting, their characters were _meant_ to be deeply unlikable, haha (well, a lot of people like Vrille without realizing she was lying and manipulating Campion solely to meet her own ends - ie survival. She's extremely adept at manipulation due to the circumstances surrounding her creation). But yeah Grandmother especially was freaking brilliant casting - gorgeous lady and she can really nail that "slightly uncanny strangeness" an ancient bioengineered android would surely have :D
