My husband won't go outside if it's thundering, he is always concerned he will be struck by lightning. It's funny how the opposites end up together! Shishitos are really good! I'll have to add them in next year! 💚

Hey, I live in the midlands of South Carolina and I love to watch your garden tours since we have nearly the same growing conditions. I too grow many of the same things on a smaller scale. My tomatoes have been more plagued with blight than bugs. I do have lots of frogs and lizards in my garden. Right now we haven't had rain for few weeks so I have to water with sprinklers just to keep things alive. Happy growing and keep up the good work!

love your channel, such a beautiful garden ! we are in SoCal zone 13b and I have had luck with most peppers, we mostly grow in raised beds and containers with a small greenhouse but I have not had any luck with bell peppers or melons but still trying 😊 we have lots of night time pests...thanks also for the recipes! blessings 😊😊

Awesome episode, Natasha! It's always good to see what your plants are doing and cross my fingers for a similar yield. 🤞 I just harvested my first cucumbers ever and they're massive! I can't wait for them to cool in the fridge and get the first bite. Since you let a cucumber go to seed, I was wondering how you decide which ones to let ripen that far? I have 10 determine plants and was thinking about saving the last one from half of the biggest 5 plants. 🤔 Last question: I was rushing this morning and tried to pull a sucker off my biggest roma, which accidently pulled about an inch of skin off the main stem. Is there any chance for it to survive? 😭 Either way, lesson learned...

I'm excited for you! You'll have to let me know how it is! Did you grow slicers or picklers? That's pretty much how I decided which plant to save seeds from, the best flavor, largest tomato/volume of production. Or I'll miss a cucumber and it accidentally gets massive and I'm like “It has been decided for me!” 😂 It should be okay! Tomatoes are good healers. While it's an open wound it does open it up to a risk of infection but they typically callous over pretty quickly. I'd be really surprised if threw a too-big temper tantrum about it.

@ShepherdingPeppersFarm I intended to grow for slicers to put in salads (my goal is to get fresh foods without going to the store). But if these things keep growing at this rate and abundance, I'll have to do some pickling. I love dill pickles, but I found another channel that made "sweet and hot" pickles involving honey and jalapeños, which sound amazing. I hope the roma heals, this was the one plant thriving and having that one sucker leaning toward the ground just worried me. I have about 8 other cherry tomatoes and 11 other romas, so things will be just fine. I just really liked this one for some reason. 😁 Tha ka for the reply, have a wonderful weekend!

I’m a new gardener. You are so knowledgeable. I grew all bell peppers this year. Next year I want to try a mild spicy. Any recommendations?

Anaheims have a Scoville typically between 500-2500 and poblanos are around 1,000-2,000 and are wonderfully great to add to cooking! 💚

Your garden still looks amazing, even with all the pest pressure. I was wondering, do you notice any hornets, spiders, or earwigs in your garden. Also, do you rotate your tomatoes and squash?

We have all of the above and some. We also have a good amount of bumble and honey bees. We do like to rotate our plants and supply the soil with beneficial crops that replenish the soil in the off season.

@ShepherdingPeppersFarm Ty for replying I know you must be busy. Do you have any lights on at night near your garden? Japanese beetles and stink bugs are attracted to lights. They also are soil born. So they will build up in the soil year after year. Tilling the area they are in once a year will help kill the beatle eggs and stink bugs that go dormant but if you keep planting stuff they like to eat in the same place, every year their populations will build up in the soil.

I have a whole list of videos Id love to shoot when the peppers start coming in, Hot sauce Guajillo sauce Taco bell sauce Tomato and pepper soup Roasted red pepper soup Caribbean pepper sauce Diced chilies Muhammara dip Ajvar dip Chili powders and seasonings like jalapeno, cayenne, arroz con pollo Hopefully I am able to get through the whole list. I keep adding more to it 😂🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Ugh… the bugs!! 🤯👹hate them. What do you think of the white clay people sprinkle. (Yes, another chore to do, I hear you) but it seems to really help with bugs. I saw it on one of James Prigioni videos.

I love it, but I swear the second I put it down it rains! 😂 I've had the very best results when I put it down in the evening and left it for a few days. But I've even checked the weather before putting it out and it rains regardless. I can't help but laugh about it now 😂 🤷‍♀️

How do you know if a pepper has cross pollinated or is just not ripe yet? I have one thaybis supposed to be an orange bell pepper and it is definitely not looking right

when its time can you show how to tell when the sweet potatoes are ready to harvest.

So I am in the middle of cucumber wilt war. I’m growing Silver Slicer and Beit Alpha. I’ve lost 3 vines so far in my small backyard garden. Ideas? Can I reseed in that same bed or is it in the soil as well? I know it’s likely due to the cucumber beetles.

Cucumber beetles are such a pain. I would replant and if possible in a slightly difference area, if possible. Spraying the soil and plants lightly with a tiny amount of dish soap in water could help too. Silver slicers are on my list to try planting in the future.

Happy Saturday Natasha and fam! Yours are the only videos where I take notes lol It’s perfectly fine if you are showing the same stuff. We want to see the progress from seed to harvest so I personally like seeing the same stuff every week. I’m going to try the Megatron next year. This year I’m growing colossal jalapeños, but they they aren’t as big as I anticipated. What do you do with the Lesya sweet pepper? Finally got my husband to try peach pepper. He ate them all haha I roasted them and served with fried chicken and biscuits. Do you have facebook or a platform where we can share or tag you in on pictures? I’m making your meat pies today!

I'm really glad to hear that! I think you'll really like the Megatrons, I was totally shocked since a lot of big jalapenos take several months to get large. We eat the Lesyas like apples! Sweet red peppers are a hot commodity in our house 😂 I'm thrilled to hear your husband liked the peppers! 🫶🙌

As someone that hasn't experimented with hot peppers, other than jalapeños, please tell me what I can do with cayenne peppers. I got some "jalapeño" starts at a local farm and the look exactly like cayenne peppers, so I'm assuming they were mislabeled. My family doesn't like things too spicy, so now I'm stuck with 8 cayenne plants and have no idea what to do with the harvest.

You could always dehydrate and make cayenne powder which is good for a variety of things by just sprinkling it in.
