Actually, Mrs Duncan enjoyed your video too, her dad in Sweden was involved with ‘Railbussar’ preservation at the Dellenbannan preservation scheme in Hälsingland, Sweden. @@RailcarRestorers

As a youngster, I used to take an occasional ride on the Craven units that worked the suburban services out of Kings Cross. I remember the ride being like a magic carpet. Great work you're all doing and thanks for the educational and entertaining presentation.

Had a fantastic day on the Saturday, great weather and rode every unit. Had a trip from Stoke to Wolverhampton as a kid mid sixties, must have been a 104, looking forward to the Heljan model.

Super video, full of interest as always. It must be technically interesting how a "gearless" 127 unit can couple to another blue square unit that has a gearbox. Does the 127 driver need to "change gear" for the other unit?

Thanks for the comment. The 127 has a gear controller like a standard mechanical unit but has a D for automatic function. When operating on its own. When paired with a mechanical unit use the tacho to change gears and it will operate like a normal unit.

Great video as always, and a real journey back in time for me. Pre-electrification of my local Ayr- Glasgow route back in the 80s, there was a serious fire at Ayr depot which took a lot of the resident 107s out of service. They drafted in recently withdrawn units from all over the country, including 104s, 105s and 120s, and I well remember the raspy exhausts and clouds of blue smoke of the former!

Some lovely units on there . Why do some in preservation insist on fitting or keeping headlights and red bulbs in marker lights. Completely spoils the 109

Thanks for the comment. They do have some lovely units there and they are very well looked after. As for the headlights etc I guess it comes down to personal preference. No headlight on our 117 though!

@RailcarRestorers great to hear that Paul When I was involved with the 101 at Sheringham I wired the red setting out and got rid of the red bulbs. Looks stupid an oil tail lamp adds to the atmosphere

Thanks for the comment. I’m not entirely sure on that one. Dmus are playing a part though as they are cheap to run compared to steam!
